Hey what's the laundry room flood drain connected to? It's connected to the washer drain?

Thank you for the video! Doing the same in the next couple weeks and getting some research done. Planning to add a tile threshold to keep water in should there be an issue. My question is this. Why the kerdi fabric after? I assume it’s because the thin-set could crack between the flange and the Schluter? I appreciate any input you have. Thanks!

The kerdi is to waterproof the connect between the drain and ditra, along with the wall connections.

I have used hydroban liquid membrane. I like it works great , but i have not used hydroban cementitious yet what do you think of that product and do i use brush or trowel to apply.

      Hey JBI,
I wish I had an answer for you but I haven't had a chance yet either to try the hydrogen cementitious

I Dont understand... wouldn't a bigger piece Kerdi around the drain eliminate the use of Kerdi band?
The Kerdi band will now make a ramp just outside the drain from buildup, no?

Good question. The piece of kerdi I had on site wasn't big enough, that's why I had to use the banding.

Would be nice to see a follow up video on this! I want to build a new home with the laundry on the first floor over a full basement -- I am thinking I will do a tile floor in the laundry room and have the drain near the front of the washer and slope the floor to the drain -- More info is needed on best installation practices

Assuming there’s a trap downstream, would there still be a sewer smell that comes back into the laundry room if the drain runs dry for too long? I’ve heard in order to maintain floor drains in wet rooms, as a maintenance item, you must pour a cup or more of water down there every month or so. Without that, I’d imagine a smell would arise.

Yes there is a trap. But yes depending where it is you dont want it to run dry and yes have the sewer smell.

Can this be connected to 1” pvc and lead outside? Instead of a sewer line tap in since this isn’t an active drain in the traditional sense?
