Finally someone to comment on Vesper's final boss. I can do EVERYTHING perfectly fine besides the final boss. I think I have only died to one shot lightning strikes I can't see, it just gets really disheartening to want to keep making attempts. I've done every dungeon solo flawless, and this boss makes Ghosts of the Deep blush in terms of the final boss.
Yes. Love the mechanics, they're fun mechanics but they end up feeling overused when I have to keep doing way too many of these phases just to get to DPS.
Verity is one of the most interesting and engaging encounters I have ever played in D2. Its so thrilling making progress and a bit entertaining putting the pieces in as well as doing the ghost rezzes. But dear lord, only problem I have is how BRUTAL wiping or slipping up is. Even after contest and a couple weeks, it felt so devastating to fail.
I’m glad you said that about the VH final boss. It’s a brutal encounter that can wipe even experienced teams and takes forever. Over half of the dungeon time wise is that boss. No need to do both rooms to get to dps either. Just a slog of an encounter. I think once everyone gets their ice breakers, there will be a massive drop in people playing it

I've been flip flopping between the servitor and puppeteer bosses in VH. I used to love the servitor, but after many buggy or just annoying encounters, I now hate it. As for the puppeteer, after perfecting the dps phase and nuke mechanics, I love it. It's a very rewarding fight when executed perfectly
But kind of like he talked about with cheese mechanics, it only becomes enjoyable once you learn the cheese spots which means the dps mechanics are flawed
@@marshallman402 It's a consistent 2 phase with a competent team without any cheese spots once you catch the rhythm of the fight. people ignore the clones the boss spawns but they are there to give large amounts of super and transcendence energy. Lightning also has very distinctive sound when it's about to hit the ground and once you're familiar with it's pattern, you pretty much learn to constantly keep jumping, moving around while damaging the boss. It's very rewarding
@ I did a master run with no warlock or healing on my team and it was fun to play that way. If u kill the clones while trying to parcipate in damage u are able to get a second super in one damage phase so I get exactly what you’re saying. It’s easier than people make it out to be. What makes it fun is that it forces you out of camping and having to learn how to play on the fly. I think the unpredictably actually is the only thing that gives it a challenge given the fact that the puppet just sits in one spot and shoots. The encounter would be to easy if the lighting had a predictable pattern. Even without that it’s easy to avoid in my opinion. Most of the time if u get rid of the clones early and constantly fly in the air when seeing lightning beating him becomes very achievable. It’s just unfortunately most teams are going to cheese it anyways because it’s available. Where some bosses don’t necessarily have an option to.
@@marshallman402 I also cleared my first master run with my buddies last week and it was very fun experience honestly. We wiped 2 times and on our 3rd attempt we just played for our lives instead of playing full on aggressive and cleared the boss in 3 safe phases. I absolutely love the sparrow you get as a reward from it. I was on star eater nova bomb warlock while my 2 buddies ran consecration titans.
Gahlran's Deception and Gahlran were a good time and excellent usage of not a huge amount of space in a raid but still a very rewarding experience when teamwork pays off and everybody's doing their part. Bungie's had infinitely more dragged out things in much larger spaces for worse encounters and activities.
The only thing I think is cool about the Corrupted Puppeteer encounter is how it does force you to move around for DPS. Like even if you have a Well it doesn’t last the whole time and it’s different than a lot of encounters where you can just stand in one spot. From a solo perspective the bottom takes awhile for the amount of damage you can get out if you’re not just full sending the boss.
Made the day 1 experience so much better and rewarding feeling when we cleared. If it was like for example warlords I don’t think it would have felt good to have cleared or as if didn’t feel challenging.

I will mention though, Im throughouly disappointed for each time Bungie messed up trying to make the Vex interesting. For example I was more disappointed with Episode 1 than I was with Curse of Osiris story wise. We could've had a sentient vex mind, questioning reality itself like some sort of Age of Ultron moment. But no we got a younger version of Maya/Lakshmi with a smoker voice, going on a murderous rampage, acting smart, while being the dumbest character i've witnessed by murdering the real version of her wife, mixed with love gay story number 8087.

Loved Crown because it was like splitting a raid into multiple pairs working together, like it compartmentalized everything. Very unique. Also, hard agree on the Vesper final boss. I find myself more annoyed with it every time I do it.
When I first pop up in the VH boss dps phase, I always think I am being targeted by a lightning strike. It takes me a minute to adjust to all the yellow. I never knew why until you just said that.
20:19 Crown of Sorrow was a good bookend on pre DCV Destiny. I’m still annoyed that I didn’t do a few extra runs to get my last 2 armor pieces from that raid.

But because they did that event that gave away the toast emote one last time I went anyway and finished everything with minutes to spare
to put Warpriest in C its a total disrepesct :)) .. bro that was that boss was a nightmare when Kings Fall come back in D2 , and even this days are LFGs who have problems with it , idk but in my opinion that is one of the iconic bosses of D2 , number 1 been Rhulk cuz that's how it should bee a boss .. MOVE , charge , kicks , lasers beams , not stand still and all team broke him with all they have
Only thing I disagree with is putting any Eater of Worlds encounter above F tier. The raid as a whole was just so boring and kinda felt like a slap in the face with how easy it was. People often call the original Crota's End a strike because of how easy it was to solo due to some unforeseen bugs and skips, but Eater of Worlds was practically a strike considering how one person could do all the mechanics. Wasn't due to any bugs either, the raid was just designed like that.
Pretty much a last ditch effort at “new content” bungie slapped a bare bones version of deep stone crypt into the game making which to me is backwards. This would have made much more sense if it came out before deep stone
I like the list and it was well explained. Really liked when you included clips of the encounters, it helped refresh the memory. I had few things I personally would have placed higher/lower, but like you said its your list. However I don't think that I'd put verity even close to S tier strictly because I haven't finished the raid because it is an LFG nightmare. Like don't get me wrong the mechanics are fine, but the dead ghost spectate part where you're only able to see one statue and not all is too much especially when you take in the factor of LFG and not knowing those people enough, language barriers, and having some new people who might not have transmog, etc. So things like that made doing that raid an almost a deterrent or at most i would maybe consider doing all encounter but that. You having a squad you know and can communicate well with might be why you like it better but for me as a mostly LFG raider it was impossible.
Ive only ever done verity with lfg groups and it's never taken more than a few minutes for everybody to understand who's who, it's just as much a coordination effort as the rest of the encounter
I do not understand the obsession with Aksis. Is it because it was one of the only good boss fights in D1? Like it’s actually not that great. It was for D1, but that’s D1 which doesn’t even hold a candle to D2 raids.
Shattered throne doesn’t hold up to todays dungeon encounters however as a whole it’s still an amazing dungeon, when you factor in the hidden stuff and the wishender quest it’s at least an A overall it wasn’t just grind for a chance at the linked exotic
Val Calur (or however you spell it) sucked imo. The damage phase felt weird, the meta sucked at launch, arcstrider being the best was bad, and the throwing balls at calus always fucked people up for some reason
Mac, when Toland is on the ceiling in Hexahedron, you look at the cube for which side does NOT have a symbol of the Nine. Whatever wall is opposite that side is where you dunk the orb. It goes just as fast as normal if you do this,
It actually doesn't. The main message of progression through the encounter comes in "The realm responds to your actions." If you don't see it, you went backwards one room.
Rhulk has to be the most overrated encounter in this game. Outside of the damage phase being cool it’s literally just stand on a plate, call out symbols, then dunk

His mechanics of splitting people specifically I really enjoyed, and shooting specific limbs. Gahlran was a more "all hands on deck" fight.
I missed the post leviathan raids because D2 vanilla is still the worst pile of garbage but the bane system might top the pile of garbage for me (just an opinion) but I do agree with the majority of your opinions here I especially like the WOTM opinion.
For me, Vespers boss is F tier. Only encounter in any raid/dungeon that has actually had me getting so genuinely annoyed with dps phase that I never want to do that dungeon ever again. I really want Icebreaker, but if I have to do that dungeon to get it, it's not happening. No other encounter IN THE ENTIRE GAME has ever made me feel that way.
honestly vespers host is a bad dungeon. legit rank it very low. first encounter is pretty boring. first boss is annoying to fight with the constant need to get 2 sets of numbers and hard the boss glitching out alot. the last boss is just stupid encounter. when getting the shield down one room is super poorly designed and the radiation guys legit can run at you fast enough to cause an instant unavoidable wipe. the dps phase the lightning is really stupid and zero patterens on top of super hard to see while being shot and meleed by everything so forcing health regen while having a ton of health. horrible dungeon
Grap of Avarice isn't mechanically complex, but I think it's Bungie at their best - jaunty, trollish, cheeky - you can tell they had fun making it.

The Spire of Stars raid was awesome. You definitely had to have a competent raid team
