Why My Last Trip to Disney May Have Been My Last Trip to Disney- Confessions of a Theme Park Worker

  • I let slip a couple of times that I thought my last trip to Walt Disney World might actually be the last time I'm able to visit Disney. Why? What's going on that would make me say that? A bit of dropping behind the curtain at some things in real life for you.
A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...
Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I've visited a whole lot of them as well. Here's some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

As a fellow WDW Ride Operator of years gone by, I wish you only the best. I had a major heart attack at 41 and guess what? I recovered and became a body builder! You can do anything!!! I get checked regularly and my heart bypasses are now over 20 years old! If I can do it YOU can too!!! Be smart and be patient. You will survive all this!!!

Life can change so fast. As a friend of mine said regarding the college I was supposed to attend for a subject they're known for cancel the program "detours can often be upgrades."

It's been about 10+ years since I've been to a Disney park and I don't feel like going back. Feel like it's way too expensive, way too overcrowded, and now they have relaxed the rules too much for cast members and it's really ruined the experience

Final visit to Disneyland: 1989, solo.
Final visit to Disney World: 1975, with parents and siblings.
Disney priced me out a l--o--n--g time ago. Very well then ...

It’s been four years since I went to Disneyland. I’m hoping for another trip but I fully understand what you’re saying and it may have been it for me. I still have never been to Florida as I had hoped to by now. Only one life, twill soon be past…God bless and guide you.

I am hoping your trip to Israel will be successful and you can continue on with your Park Tales once you return :)

This made me sad. Sad for you and your family. We could all go at any moment. My mother died in her 40s. I’ve outlived her. It’s sobering. I don’t feel old but yet I know I’m getting there. I understand where you’re coming from. Big hugs. I hope things work out for you and yours and you stay safe

My last trip to Disney World was Nov 2021 and I said it was my last trip. Mostly because I was 70 yrs old. But now after what I feel is an intentional abandonment of the tangible quality established by Walt Disney I think I’ll spend my next trip elsewhere.

Combining that with this video's thene, how does singing change in heaven?

Much love and support to you and yours George, especially at this trying time. Don't feel the need to apologize or explain if your video isn't happy and upbeat. We understand and respect what you're experiencing now, and the life changes you may be making in the future. Theme parks are for good times, enjoy them while we can- sometimes things come along that enhance our lives that are far far better than a day in a park.
I've been so blessed by friends and certain situations to have experienced the Disney parks in the past, and I wouldn't trade those experiences being with friends for anything. Would I go back? maybe, but the time has to be right. I 'd prefer to look back on what i did rather than what I'd like to DO
May your travels bring you just as much joy as mine have had :)

I would love to know what it's like to live in Israel. I know almost nothing about it. I bet it's like me living in LA. I hear all the stories about the bad stuff that happens but have never experienced anything. Or people who are worried about earthquakes in California, I keep telling people it's a VERY rare event(s). I know you'll love being is Israel.

Hey, you never know though, I met a lady that was 101 at Disneyland on her birthday and she spent the entire day riding Indiana Jones. Honestly, anything is possible, so never give up.

I had a sinking feeling that my last trip to Disneyland in 2015 was going to be my last trip. And so far, that has born out. Between the increasing expense, exchange rate, and direction of the company, my days of taking dedicated trips to Disneyland are over. I wouldn't turn down a day at Disney if I happened to be around there, but there's so much more to see in the world too, and it's cheaper 😆Plus there's nothing wrong with just growing and changing as a person and keeping oneself alive by finding new interests. I kind of worry about TH-camrs who will have nothing to show for their lives but 30 years of permanent vacation at Disney World.

We Love Disney. We went to wdw on our honeymoon in 2013. We hope to bring our daughter for her first time at some point. Disney has meant a lot to our daughter since she was born. She just turned 9 and has autism. The only thing that calms her down is Disney music and watching Disney videos

Your message resonated with me. My father was a licensed Assembly of God minister. He turned his life over in 1965. It was just short of 51 years when he went to heaven. As I get older, I keep hearing him sing "Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand. But I know, who holds my future, and I know, who holds my hand." That's my message for you.

🫶🏼 you and all you’re Disney information, first time I went to Disneyland was in high school during my senior week , years later almost 30 years old. My second time going with my now boyfriend was AMAZING , so intrigued with ebeurhknf I saw and all the rides , I immediately wanted to know more information after my trip to Disneyland, and I came across your page and I couldn’t stop watching your videos for hours and hours. I stayed up until the next morning watching them , keep doing what you’re doing !

I'm much younger than you are but health is a juggling game. I try to tell guys in their 20's to get their blood test every year, work out, stay normal weight, do research. Makes it way easier to track trends.
Hope your health turns around. I don't know if they'll help you but drinking almond milk unsweetened(immediate relief), and drinking a few drops of braggs apple cider vinegar with RO water daily or after eating meat keeps my acid down. I drink a lot of reverse osmosis water without acv too. I take an acv pill once daily plus fibercon, etc.

I think I can understand just about everything you said! this former teacher, kayaker, skier is now toddling around with a wheeled walker, but Doggon it, I can still ride roller coasters! Yes, it is harder to go from rope. Drop to park close these days, but you learned to make adjustments so that you can still have the experiences. And when you cannot have the experiences, you have the joy of talking about them. Here’s a song for you,: th-cam.com/video/k-SGMoDhrlM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QDzmfxPIzq8sT3Sd

Could you make a video about what you think of Disney today and the magic today? I honestly feel like a lot has changed with Disney magic and Covid.

Sad to say, but Disney has become the place that the rich people go to to have a six flags day.
Translation: Disney:where wealthy people go and spend money on a disappointment.
Disney has just gotten ridiculous with cheezy upgrades, cheap aesthetics, and price gouging.
