PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep making videos bro, your research, knowledge, explanation of material, visuals, audio, literally every part of these videos have been awesome keep up the good work!!
I want to see the top G5 teams play on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox as well. When they showed Fresno State at Boise State on CBS? They got over 1 million viewers of the two top MWC teams. Plus, many G5 schools do get more tv ratings than some of the schools SEC and Big 10 teams. There will be clamoring for the playoffs to expand lets say to 22 team field. Every conference get at least 1 team in and 12 at large bids. And no, SEC is not that strong, and most of the Big 10 teams lose to G5 and FCS schools. Nobody wants to watch losers that are made up of those 2 conferences alone.
The idea of the SEC and Big Ten leaving to do their own thing because of how rich they are sounds eerily similar to the Super League bullshit happening in European Soccer.
Yesm. And it's also largely American investors pushing that BS, too. One thing American capitalists do well is kill traditions. The Europeans, unlike us, were not having it and made their voices heard.
Yeah, but the real question that needs to be answered is why their member institutions won't relinquish that non-profit/tax-exempt status when their bootlickers peddle arguments rooted in capitalism. 🤔🤷♂️
This is when they finally made their demand for 4 teams a piece, I think the other conferences should call their bluff. If they threaten to leave, let them.
I personally think the playoff will not take very long to max itself out at 16 teams, especially since it’s already a 4 weekend ordeal and all they’d need to do is add 2 games. The LARGE hurdle that will be the next evolution will be adding a 5th weekend to the playoff. Giving flexibility to have 20-30 teams in the playoff makes autobids much more palatable for the Power 2. Eventually, FOX/ESPN are going to convince the Power 2 that there’s more money in making the playoff bigger, rather than smaller. It’s just reality. Although, the days of an overrated 9th place Big 10 team getting a bid over a 3rd place Big12 team are inevitable. That much is certain.
I don't think that the Big 2 will split off fully, but I do think it means they will be in prime position to demand reorganization to FBS and essentially abandon geographic conferences for soccer-style divisions. They'll make sure the prime time slots feature the biggest teams playing each other, with them having a separate ranking/table, but keeping every other team in the same umbrella organization to add a veneer of equality. If they get bold enough they could even start doing promotion and relegation to ensure the 2nd and 3rd tier schools get a chance to be in the same level as Alabama and Michigan. Ideally this would exist only for football and perhaps basketball, and every other sport can go back to geographic conferences and not forcing Stanford volleyball to fly to Miami.
Loved the Video. Since you mentioned the CW and GT (Go Jackets!), did you know Underdogs on the CW are now 11-3 ATS and 9 of 14 on the ML. It's a wild trend that makes no sense... which is fitting.
Great video! I think it’s pretty obvious that they want to make more money from college football. It’s just not so obvious that the SEC and BIG leaving wouldn’t do that and would actually decrease viewership. 3:40-7:00 are definitely the most important parts of the video.
You all have 3 options: 1. Play in a league that only has 30 to 40 of the biggest schools. 2. Play in a league with 130 teams and get upset that your team never wins the national championship. 3. Play in a league with 130 teams but be happy when you win bowl games and also that you can win conference titles because your conference doesn’t have more than 12 teams.
Great Job! Live Sporting content is the only guarantee that networks have (per former Fox Sports Prez, Bob Thompson... as seen on the Big 12 Mafia). They absolutely want more content.
I despise the big 10 and sec and their false sense of grandeur. They have teams like Vanderbilt and Rutgers in their conferences and wanna split from the rest it’s pathetic
Maybe what we are experiencing is more akin to the early days of skyscrapers in cities like NYC and Chicago. Innovations like structural steel and the passenger elevator truly changed the game of real estate and ensured that the industry would be markedly different from those points moving forward. Let's say structural steel is the introduction of things like the transfer portal and NIL. That's what will come to form and shape the structure of teams in the future. Let's say the passenger elevator is akin to the conference realignment we have experienced recently, with some teams getting into much better financial situations as a result.
@@ThrowBackFrog Like, teams like FSU and Clemson are each in an old artist's loft space in industrial Brooklyn or the west side of Manhattan. But that space has seen better days, and now you straight up have too many requirements, too champagne a taste and a lesser budget. But which conference has a couple of rent-controlled units up for grabs that you can saunter into in 30 days?
Football channels are always the way to go, people love hearing about anything football from different perspectives and even football history. I'm a UC Bearcats fan btw
Another great video! The fact that every other team is tied to my team’s (where I went to school) success is why I’ll tune into so many games. To see which top team falls and makes way for mine to move up the rankings. It becomes significantly less interesting to me once that’s not part of the equation.
clarification: Disney owns specifically ESPN/ABC, giving them the rights to the SEC, ACC, AAC, Big-12, MW, and the CFB Playoffs FOX Shares the Big 10 with NBC, and CBS, as well as the Big 12 with Disney
I would love to see the playoff selection follow the model of UEFA Champions League. The champions of each conference get in, and the remaining slots are determined by the leagues performance in the playoffs over a given window, with some some cap existing for the most dominant conference. The SEC will have the most slots at first, and continue to have the best chance to keep their position, but if four teams get in, and three lose in the first round but the Big 12 make a run, then the competition number of bids change. Less arbitrary than a committee’s eye test, but protects the big dogs’ status if they can keep it up.
@@anythingthoughanythingthou2453 other than the name of the tournament, nothing I said has anything to do with soccer. Having an actual system based on performance is better than the opinion of a few guys behind closed doors. Your status should be on the line with every big game, instead of relying on constant drum beating.
So both options are bad for college football. If B10 and SEC both leave, it creates a deep division in division 1. If they just try to quietly make the playoffs exclusive to them, it makes the rest of the FBS all but irrelevant in the wider sporting world. Either way, both conferences would make a ton of money out of it.
The formation of Major College Football is still a few years away. ESPN has the ACC GOR extension option in 2027, the Pac 12 has until 2026 to reorganize, and the MWC TV deal ends concurrent with that. FSU may find a way to leave the ACC by those dates, and the football operations of the top 40 schools in FBS will merge into MCF, with an 8-team CFP after a 11-game regular season (divisional round-robin and 2 non-division games). Simply put, most of the CFB world is not aware enough of this, much like most of the world of 1938 could not fathom the extent of German ambitions. We all know how that worked out. You may call me the CFB Churchill.
As for this vid's assertion that there will be more games and more TV investment into them, I must point out the decade-long decline in youth participation numbers (outside of Texas and Florida). Sooner or later, this will manifest on the field, diminishing the quality of the games, and thereby the market for them.
I really think some of the G5 leagues should be pushed down a division but ACC, Big12, Notre Dame, and stronger G5s like Boise State should stay with B1G and SEC
You absolutely fail to account the danger to NCAA approved danger to college football overall and specifically a rule that might shift the power if held long enough - the NIL.
