  • Singapore Airlines operates the world’s longest flight, during which passengers can now get fish. It might sound risky, but it’s fresher than you might expect. Singapore’s Food and Beverage Director Antony McNeil explains how and why he brought trout to travelers plates.

you might be right but they explained in the video that its important to keep things fresh which is why they choose the trout farm nearer by, there might not be a salmon farm nearby. Either way both fish are farmed and not good quality, unless they use wild salmon like sockeye.

Steel head trout is more expensive than salmon at my local Costco. The filets sold both look similar in size and texture, but steel head filets are a darker shade of pink. They are closely related to each other as both swim out to sea and come back to fresh water rivers to spawn. You are probably thinking of rainbow trout.

I don’t like “fresh” fish that has been sitting around for any amount of time beyond an hour or so. By that, I mean from the time it is prepared until the actual serving time. Also, the airplane cabin may smell like fish for some period of time after the dish is served. Especially when served raw or sashimi style.

smoked trout is not fresh fish. it's definitionally preserved (by smoking). You could even "fresher" smoked fish from Acme which produces it in Brooklyn, 100 miles closer to JFK and EWR. The entire story here seems to be that they bought a brand of fish produced in NY instead of a brand produced in Europe or South America. So what?

BTC is almost like a tease when it gets to these levels and it starts to suck in liquidity around this range but we will have to see how the market reacts to these.
