    Brilliant safe at 2:14, I slow-moed the video to see how you did it - very cool, calm and collected, chapeau!
    Also, you are one of the first YT channels I followed when Flippy Cat was still roaming the setup, I am so happy each time you publish a new video - and my daughter grew up with your dominoe videos practically her whole life. As someone else commented: you truly ARE a treasure! Thanks, man, for your passion, your perseversnce, and your productivity. Love from Germany! 👍🙋‍♀️👏

      I was really disappointed my hand ended up blocking the falling part of that fail. Got lucky that my attempt to get ahead of it fell the one way. I wasn't using many safety gaps at that point still because I would be able to setup that line again if it did fall. I was more careful with gaps after that.

    Very good world record, I am a bit sorry for what happened to the yellow line, but luckily the fact that it just got stuck makes editing easier. But the truth is, I really admire the fact that you spent more than 24 hours working with those micro dominoes and with nerves of steel, it makes me congratulate you a lot, apart from the floor moving I don't know if it's a sheet of paper but what I do know is that with only a few millimeters of precision and using the ruler as a template, the time you dedicated to this record was really worth it (except for the fail 😕)! 🤩👍

    • @flippycat
      @flippycat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Surface I'm building on is a sheet of laminate (Formica). It doesn't lay flat and the edges will try to raise...and then raises in the center a bit. This is why in the setup you can see I have weights laying around and sometimes bins of dominoes to keep the section I'm on pressed down. I build with these and minis on this surface before so know the up down doesn't cause them to fall (unless something dropped on it), I didn't expect the moving to be so visible on camera. It's a very smooth surface and works great to slide dominoes on. Just needs to be glued to a board to keep it flat.

    • @MexicanDominoPro8
      @MexicanDominoPro8 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@flippycat And if it's true, despite all that, I really love this type of surface because white gives a nice contrast to the domino colors! 😊

    • @Schnurpsful
      @Schnurpsful 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im no expert but tiny dominos don't have a lot of mass to push on others and the stones just before the corner, where the failure happened, look like they are placed to close together.

    • @flippycat
      @flippycat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My gut says they were too close, and then it hit the turned one just right that it jammed and stopped. I didn't take as long as I should to look at it before tapping it with my finger. They were not touching initially, just very close. It seems like maybe something was sticky though. I will never know.
      I thought some of the turns were too sharp, and I was going to have several turns fail, especially the turns at the tips of the pencils.

    Flippy over here, almost tripling the former world record like its no big deal :D awesome congrats! I can't believe that fail. Are these dominoes so light that they get stuck so easily? Unlucky..
    But I couldn't figure out, want could have failed in the edited version. My guess was the field starter at the beginning but it worked flawlessly!

    • @flippycat
      @flippycat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know why it stuck, it stopped where there were a) very close b) followed by a turned domino. Also the yellow ones fall slower than the rest for whatever reason too. I did a longer test to compare them to blue. I still feel it just slowed to a stop from close spacing, but maybe something sticky was in play. Could not recreate close dominoes stopping at a corner though.

    Awesome setup! I felt stressed just watching the timelapse! It must be really difficult working with their low weight; I've made a few rallies way back with LEGO pieces as short as 16mm and that was already a sensitive setup! Really interesting that you made a mini barrier with a few dominoes and tape(?) to save your fields

    • @flippycat
      @flippycat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't find it too difficult, until doing a corner or just having to fix an out of place domino...anything different from the motions of place down, then slide and release is when I'd have to be careful. For the pencil part I was trying to keep the columns lined up so correcting them when I was going sideways was a bit stressful. I would probably do those differently now, I didn't realize I was going to be able to slide whole rows with almost no risk with a ruler edge until later, so I was being precise on placing them against the other dominoes each time which I didn't need to. it was a little metal strip taped to dominos on one end only that I could tip into/out of place slowly, then another domino on the other side in case the tiny things actually had enough force to push it.

    • @22DOMINOES22
      @22DOMINOES22 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, I see it now that you only use one domino for the barrier at 1:23. I'm jealous that you have what seems to be a stable floor! Mine's hardwood and can flex depending on where you stand, something I discovered when I was building tall towers before, so I've always had to be very cautious if I'm not building on a table

    • @flippycat
      @flippycat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@22DOMINOES22 I used to have a good floor, but my current setup I have to be careful. I am slowly learning the spots that are not safe to step on beside something too tall though. For this video I put down a sheet of Formica (counter top stuff) but it doesn't lay completely flat. You can see throughout the setup there are weights sometimes to keep the area I'm working on pressed down so the vibrations and up/down moving are less. You can see it all move up and down quite a bit in the time lapse at 2:30 and 2:42 and 3:01 From past setups (and now this one) on this surface I've learned the up/down is safe and doesn't create too much of an incline for at least mini and mini micros to not fall over as long as I don't suddenly put weight on it.
