Again, Mojo could have won this 3-0 or 3-1. They need to make a quick adjustment in 2 days. Even though double sub of Johnson and Raske didn’t really work out today but I see the potential there, especially when they used to play together. It brought new opposite in Johnson and more height at the net from Raske. I like to see this double sub in the future once it’s more consistent and effective. By far, mojo is still the more improved team. The players are finally connecting with each other on the court. I can see mojo has a deeper bench with the double sub. If they can execute their game plan and play cleaner, they’re quite a dangerous team. I think it’d make a very good semifinal if mojo can stay in 4th place which I think they will. Mojo is definitely peaking at the right time even with the loss today.
Great match.. on Mojo Side it’s so much fun to watch the Oregon Ducks roster back together. Raskie, Bacon, Willow Johnson, Ronika Stone,, and Vander Weide were on the 2018 Duck’s team that, as a 15 seed, upset the 2 seed Minnesota Golden Gophers in the NCAA Tournament. The match had a memorable 2nd set that the Ducks won 41-39. Yes….41-39…..so it’s nice to be drawn to the Mojo for the Ducks (rookie Morgan Lewis as well) and reminisce over the other collegiate stars that make up the roster. And they certainly have collegiate star power… On the Omaha side, Kendall White earned the nickname The Energizer Bunny while at Penn State under Russ Rose and gosh she still lives up to the moniker. She throws her body around, takes spike after spike and never seems to get tired, Another Oregon Duck with Nuneviller, how did Matt Ulmer not win a natty at Oregon… Bethania De La Cruz needs to be a featured player on every pregame her squad is playing in. Incredible power….The crowd pops when she serves….Sydney Hilley and Danielle Hart from the great Wisconsin teams, Tori Dixon, Vuchkova, Gabby Thompson, Nia Kai Reed, I can write a summary on all the ladies on each roster…..Talent… Over 11,000 fans in attendance, this league can grow and grows to 10 teams next year. Can they get a Logan Eggleston on the Dallas team when her season is over in Turkey? It’s going to be fun to watch… I’m always trying to add a constructive criticism here and there. I wish there was a little bit better storytelling….for example, when Tomkom was subbed out for Raskie there was concern about replacing the setter. But if the commentating team had done their research, Raskie set to Willow Johnson and Ronika Stone at Oregon so there is plenty of familiarity between teammates. It’s not a terrible criticism it’s just taking my passion from 6 years of watching collegiate women’s volleyball and being really excited to see a professional league for women Stateside….
I wish the double sub was cleaner in transition/offense .. it didn’t do what it was supposed to … then making the subs again in the 5th set after 3 service errors 😩…. it works better with fury and Omaha
Honestly, I think Morgan Lewis is the BEST RIGHT SIDE on Mojo...Willow Johnson is okay, but not better than Morgan Lewis. I prefer to see Morgan Lewis and August Raskie double sub.
