    Thank you for posting this lovely video! You should know that all the movements are natural movements of the horse. Refined perhaps, but if one has ever seen a stallion court a mare at liberty, he will basically perform all these movements, including the arched neck.

    • @Jefferdaughter
      @Jefferdaughter 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jefferdaughter And, as another poster pointed out, other breeds can also perform these movements, though few know how to develop the horse physically and to train it to do them.

    They have an intricate history. Very much tied to that of former Habsburg Empire. The original stud farm is in Slovenia, Lipica by which they were named. There was another farm in Kladrub, Czech Rep. which specialized in heavier horses for carriages. Also besides 6 main lines there are two other lines: Tulipan which was created by Count Jankovic in Croatia (namely Lipik - named after horses) and Incitato originally in Transylvania, Romania (then part of Hungary), later south-central Hungary.

    Such gorgeous creatures! I would love to know how the riders are chosen and what their training is like. I did notice in the tempe passes their hind legs were not in sync with their front and would have deductions in the modern dressage world. I am not criticizing, just pointing out some differences in baroque and modern dressage.

      I noticed the hind legs didn't change leads too, but I suspect this is the early part of their training done here. Further training would continue if they are chosen for the main stable in Vienna.

    They decent from spanisch and arabian horses? Only the Pluto (Spanish
    ) and the Siglavy (Arabian) lines. Maestoso and Favory were Kladruber and Neapolitano and Conversano where Neapolitan stallions (this breed is unfortunaly extinc). Pluto is not just his name, it is his ancestory. This beautiful creature is called Pluto Monteaura. After his founding stallion Pluto foaled in Danmark in 1765 and his mother line Spadiglia (Karst mare) born in 1778. Monteaura is a name commonly jused in this mare line in Lipica.
    Other breeds can preform the airs. I know several horses who can do a levade and courbette (the jumping on the hind legs) and non of them are Lipizzaner. Lipizzaners have more space in a joint in there pelvis, this makes the collection more easy.
    did you know they used to have more colors. Gray is a dominant color and the royals preferred the gray coat, that combination and the relatively small breeding population made sure the majority is now gray (white horses are born white and have pink skin). Still there are some that never turn white.
    If you can find a copy of the movie "Miracle of the White Stallions" it is based on a true story. Alois Podhajsky's role is extremely exaggerated, but it is how the breeding herd was saved after WW2. For the end they used the mares of the Lipica Stud, the Piber stud did not want to have there mares rushed on by army vehicles again.
    Greetings from a Lipizzaner fan ;)

    the foals may be weaned at 6-8 months, but can stay in the broodmare herd till training age. Yes, the horses were overflexed causing restricted airways, it is a shame to see modern training in a traditional stable.

      I don't ride, but this overflexed issue I have heard about. I wondered if that might be (saw another video and more than one person made that comment), and I saw similarity to said video and the horses head position. Why is this done? I also saw bridleless and it was beautiful💞💞💞

The stallions in boxes instead of being attached in stands the day long. You practiced Rollkur! All things forbidden in our days because of animal protection laws.
