This idea of resource filmmaking reminds me of an idea I had back in high school (way back before electricity, back in 1979) to make a short film in this tiny little crawlspace in our house, over the front entry. It was a space I had access to and it gave me the idea for a self-contained short film. I didn't realize it was using this approach but, yeah, it was. So this advice truly resonates.
If the gear and software available now had been available back then? I would've been in heaven.
...and now I'm thinking about that project, again. Maybe not as something I can pull off but as a springboard to think about other possibilities.
    Thanks!

Yeah! What you're describing is totally resource filmmaking!! That's a very interesting concept for a short film, I say run with that idea and see what you can make!!

    Thanks!
Would you make a short film, if you were given a short idea to expand on in the script and perhaps given choices (or recommendations) for what camera, lenses to use and....some support with the budget, like $1000 (for, for example, 2 filmstocks, super8 camera, developing, scanning, props, costumes)

I think you could totally make a short film with everything you listed here. If you plan around the main expenses being film for the camera, getting it developed, and props/costumes, I think you can use resource filmmaking to make a story that uses locations and people you have available. Best of luck!

@@reelfilmmaking101 Sir $1000 was just a random figure, of course the costs and everything would be discussed and most importantly if you liked the idea, then if the one pitching it to you had that amount. Every single person gets ideas, but not everyone is talented or has the skills, training and experience to shoot, so they ask others and not to forget coming from different countries and cultures, one would like to see another culture and cast do a take from their perspective.
I have super8 and 16mm cameras, but i don't have the experience or knowledge and I'm interested in asking filmmakers and I already know that a lot of money goes into it, whether film or digital, so only if the filmmaker agrees to the idea and funding estimate is agreed on.
