    So quick question: Say I take this out onto a straight, accelerate up to approx 100 mph and then gently pull the yoke towards me... Surely I'm flying now right ?

    The fact that there’s a back up option for the gear shifting makes this more appealing. I’d still rather have a physical shifter, but it’s good that you can shift if the screen craps out.

      Most of the physical shifters though are really just digital at this point. It is a switch that pushes a button for the computer to do its thing. They just kept shifters because it is safer, for the company, to keep buyers.

    I read somewhere about active noice cancelation in the cabin, a bit like Bose without wearing the headset. Did that come through to production?

      Elon said it was part of this but it might be one of those features they haven't finished yet. The hardware is there but they need to catch up.

      There were test vehicles with normal steering wheels. You may have to ask for it when ordering.

      @@gooseseey4687 their plan is to eliminate all parts from inside which saves a lot of money in assembly time as well as cost. You should be able to shift with your voice. And their plan isn't for you to use the screen it's to have the car know what gear to be in when you get back in.

    Dude why do you keep saying that the back seats are ventilated/cooled? Tesla's website says "Ventilated front seating" the back seats are just perforated.

      @@OG-tp6qy there is nothing functional in the yoke. If you want steering wheel to not interfere with instrument cluster you can do something like Peugeot is doing - small steering wheel while with instrument cluster on top.

    Ventilated seats need a fart function, where the fan reverses and draws air outside for 1 minute after you rap a button

      Actually that’s how the old (now discontinued) ventilated seats worked in Model X. Looks like new version blows air instead of pulling it.

    Not sure If I missed this, but did you notice if the rear fenders were wider than the outoging Model S? No one has been able to confirm this. Originally, I believe even Tesla had mentioned that the Plaid and Plaid + would be wider in the rear. Hard to tell from the pictures/videos i've seen.

      They were supposed to be wider on the Plaid+ but that configuration was cancelled. Plaid has same fenders as Long Range model. No difference.

    Include tilting the screen with software updates? I love my model 3, I don't think I would like the on-screen shifting. The most important functions I think should be on physical buttons and stalks.

    I’ve been in it and can say the sound system is miles better than the MY. The sub behind the rear passenger seat is a lot heavier.

      I can't wait to hear ANC reviews. A little dangerous for hearing sirens/honks but not something to be overly concerned with.

      I would love to hear the new Plaid speakers in person. I upgraded my Model 3 speakers with the Light Harmonic carbon fiber woofers and sub, and it hits really hard now with the factory amp. I'd like to hear a comparison someday.

      @@karl_wiley Probably won’t be much of a problem. ANC works exponentially better for constant noise, i.e. road noise. Sirens wouldn’t likely be very affected.

    More on the pros & cons of steering with yoke would have be nice.
    And can enough of the hidden vents reach the driver well (since the instrument cluster & touch screen seem to block most of it)?

    The yoke steering wheel is an absolute yoke! It only works as a racing wheel, for example, in like open wheel racing like f1… if you have to do anything more than 90° rotation… bruh!

      @Santosh Parvatikar if it is dangerous as you make it to be, dont you think F1 would have repalced them? This types of wheel keeps your hands glued to the wheel which is safe and the turning radius is the same or better

      @@willstewart674 you can't take 100% control of the steering wheel if its a steering wheel cut in half... unless its a decreased rotation angle of the wheels.... this is just a pure junk of hazard on the highways...

    There's a rollercoaster in Australia that does 0-100km/hr in 2 seconds. Sounds basically the same. Which is honoestly nuts, that rollercoaster is crazy.

    It’s pretty amazing but I’ve never understood why they haven’t ever included a birds eye view 360 degree camera system on their cars, which is a no-brainier and with all the cameras around the car would be so easy to write into their software.

    Does the rear screen keep media playing once you're driving? Kinda wish my model 3 could keep media playing on the screen instead of the navigation for passengers. Instead, we just hang ipads on the back of the front seat headrests for the kids on trips.

      From the Tesla Raj video, the first screen to use the sound system will get priority. For example, the front screen play music first, then playing a video in the back screen will be silent. Not sure about bluetooth earphone functionality.

    This is why the car was so delayed and pushed back, the amount of software and calibration needed is insane. It's nice to see the direction of the Tesla, AND thank you for explain that stirring because I hated it until you went over it. But this is the future and I like it. You can definitely see hints of what will trickle down into the the 3 and Y when they get a make out. Honestly I'm happy they didn't make to many changes to the exterior snd they focused on the drive and interior where it needed it the most.

    I wish the tail lights is updated a bit, looks so outdated compared to other ev's, they don't even have to change the shape, just update the lens and the lights configuration.. oh and give a light bar across the trunk where the tesla badge trim at. that would be so awesome.

      Yeah this car is a hard pass without a normal steering wheel, if they bring his over to the Y and 3 in the future I won't even be looking at Teslas at all anymore.

Daily driving frequently involves using hand over hand motions to make turns with a wheel you always have something to grab, its doubly true for 3 point turns or u turns. A yoke is just not suitable for regular driving, its okay in race cars with high steering ratios.

      The sound system only handles one or the other screen. You can have 2 sound sources but the second has to go through a pair of headphones so you can listen to music in front and the back passengers and play a game and hear the game via the headphones. You can't do Netflix and do two different shows with both screens. You can watch video on one and play a game on the other as of today.

      I'm car geek and watch a lot of car review videos on TH-cam just for fun. So I was really surprised when I found a TH-camr I've never heard of before get a Plaid to review. Then I look at his channel history. He's a hard core Tesla fan boy who rarely uploads a video about anything not related to Tesla. So I don't expect an unbiased opinion from this guy at all.

    The steering wheel looks horrendous!
    Stick a decent round sterring wheel with good quality controls , then it it will improve the interior greatly.
    Also colour code the door handles!

    Ryan - Enjoying your channel. Informative as I’m considering a Tesla in the next year or so. Question about the refreshed S. How tall are you and what is your inseam length? I’m 6’2” and my wife is 6’ even but her torso is longer than mine, and as we age, we have difficulties getting in and out of various cars. I saw you had several people test-dummying as you showed off the launch experience. If you’re not real tall, did any of your taller passengers have any concerning comment about getting in or out - any issues with position of door pillar relative to the seat? Or headroom?

    I’m pretty excited to see this knowing the cybertruck will have the yoke steering wheel, 17” screen, and no stocks. I just wish the NHTSA would come out saying that side mirrors are no longer required. If you think the cyber truck looks funny now then just wait until they throw those mirrors on.

      @@faizaang1748 there are only 106 speedtails being made and mclaren decided against engineering it around US safety standards so yes they can go without side mirrors but no it is not street legal.
      Honestly I have no idea why NHTSA hasn’t updated their rules. They have looked into it for years and done studies for some time. Europe updated their rules and I would have guessed America would have been close behind but I never hold my breath when it comes to government agencies being effective.

    There is a lot of refinement to the exterior, even though the basic design is the same, and it all adds up to a car that looks way nicer than the old ones. It's wider, new front and rear bumper, "chrome delete", and new wheels. It looks if someone took their old Model S and styled it upto something really cool. Like if you took an old BMW M3 E46 and made it super dope. Those will often look better than the new model cars.

    Great car and new feature. For the price though and living in a busy city I think a heads up display would definitely help w safety and security.
