    Hey Bill, I have a fsm, 1961 w/ backhoe
    Suppose I want to use it with a 3-point hitch system and remote hydraulics like yours do you think I should look for another tractor setup like that or just Scout around for the parts?
    Thank you

      @BillTheTractorMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a neat tractor you have! I'd scoop one up in a heart beat if the timing was right. Depending on the conversion yours has is how difficult what you want to do would be. I'm sure it's possible, depends on how much you want to spend on parts and how much searching your willing to do. Personally I would find another Major, power major, or super major and keep the backhoe tractor.

      This is an add on valve from Fordson (Ford) back when they were new. The tractor could be ordered with several options and this was one. You might be able to source one from a salvage or parts tractor.

      So it should stop and hold anytime you take stop opening the valve either direction. If the hydraulic pressure is always pushing up or down, your valve may need to be rebuilt.

      @claudiuardelean4897 I don't have a way to show you currently, the tractor is away in storage. There is usually two valves. One is for the up/ down control in the 3pt hitch, and the other is for the hydraulic remotes for a separate cylinder. Which valve do you believe you are having issues with?

    • @BillTheTractorMan
      @BillTheTractorMan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That coupler gets the pressure from the 3pt valve. It's for a euro hitch and some one put a fitting for an american wagon on it to dump using the 3pt control.

      @@arivaldosoares358 I don't need two sets of remotes, but a common way to do it here is with a diverter valve. Most common are electrically switched by a solenoid valve and a toggle switch by the operator. You have one hydraulic valve that gives you 2 sets of functions.

    • @BillTheTractorMan
      @BillTheTractorMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Major, Power Major, Super Major had an optional valve block that could be added to the front of the valve assembly on the rockshaft housing under the seat. That's where I added the new hydraulic lines into in the video.

      @@Cro_man_ sounds like some worn internal parts. 67yrs of earning its keep, it has earned some Tender, Love, and Care. Not sure how the shifter is set up on that machine, but I would start by pulling the shifter if possible to see what's worn and what might be out of place. Check around online, maybe Ebay for an owners and a service manual.
      Remember, these tractors were built in a time where the manufacturer designed them to be repaired by the farmer. They were designed to be rebuilt multiple times, and they will easily last generations of owners before their time is up. It just takes a little TLC and some money. It may seem like a lot, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper then a new tractor.
