Thanks I need to clean the top of a 1978 Argosy Airstream. So the tip of recaulking every 5 years was very useful. and checking for squirrel damage. Thank you!!
Looked like the video ended with you stuck on the roof. :-) I hope your video assistant stuck around and held the ladder. Seems that it would be good to enlist a helper/spotter whenever possible. Great helpful knowledge sharing. I plan to buy an interstate. Does that roof have sufficient support to hold a person? With that said with the 300 watt solar, not sure there is room enough to stand anywhere. So, how does one service the roof seals in a situation where you can’t get all the way up there?
Fred, thank you for watching yes, they finally got me off. The Interstate does have a small amount of room for technicians to get up and it will support a great amount of weight.
What is a 'great amount of weight". I go 285 and need to climb up on my 2019 23FB Flying Cloud to install a MicroAir Easy Start 364 on my Dometic AC. What is the limit (with tools etc.)?@@colonialairstream
Thanks for the info on getting onto the roof. I was able to climb up onto my 2019 23FB to install Domedic Ultrabreeze Vent covers. It was a little nerve-racking moving around on the roof as I didn't want to crush anything. I got more comfortable while up there and managed to install both Ultrabreeze covers in about an hour. Any tips on getting the Omni Directional TV antenna to work? I have no signals at all. I have already replaced the booster wall plug just in case after trying a cheap flat panel antenna from Best Buy that worked to get stations. Anyway, thanks again for the great video.
Lots of Space fro more PV panels. Can you quantify how to max this out? Seems like you could put twice as many and much wide panels? What are the options there?
There are many options for more solar. Our service department can work with you on the aftermarket items. This particular model, I can fit two more 90w panels up top.
Hey Patrick-My wife and I love your videos. My wife thinks you sound just like Ray Ramono, but I’m sure you’ve heard that before. Any idea what the weight limit might be to get on the roof?
I always see you getting on the roof, but I would assume getting OFF the roof is an art form. I have always found it is easier going up than it is coming down - not just on an AS, but generally.
I believe they had a faulty skylight in the bath area from where it was dripping. I feel bad it happened to them and their selling dealer will remedy it for them.
WOW! Patrick with lots of hair! Thanks for sharing more tips on taking care of our Airstream
Our pleasure!

Glad it helped!
I've wondered about getting on the roof of an Airstream. Thanks for the information.

You are welcome.
Thank you I’ve been wanting to get up there❤️

Thank you very much. It is possible the connection came loose at the base or at the splitter hidden somewhere in the trailer.
I own a Basecamp by Airstream. Thanks for sharing the details.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks...just got 1978 model
Classic.
Nice
Silly question - but how to clean when its so slippery on roof when wet? Do you just towel and dry as you go?
I would suggest doing it from a ladder with a long brush.
Great info boss, nice job!
Thank you.

*Cameraman walks away with ladder*
Patrick "Hey, come back here!". 😁
Cameraman "Muhahaha"
lol

There has been no published weight limits.
quickest ladder set up ever! (thanks to fast forwarding lol)
Yes, no need to drag it on.
Is the same procedure for getting on the roof of vintage airstreams (71 Land Yacht 21')?
Yes, they are just more rounded and more slick.
I always see you getting on the roof, but I would assume getting OFF the roof is an art form. I have always found it is easier going up than it is coming down - not just on an AS, but generally.
Yes, it could be challenging.
I climb over 1200 roofs a year and I can tell you that you are exactly right. It’s harder to come down.
Saw on a Airstream blog Facebook, leaks on new Airstreams! What's the deal? Over rivits in bath room.
I believe they had a faulty skylight in the bath area from where it was dripping. I feel bad it happened to them and their selling dealer will remedy it for them.
@@colonialairstream Wanna bet?
Bit of an acrobatic feat getting back on to the ladder though.
Yes, please be careful.
Thanks
No problem
Should have shown how you got down.
Paul, it is the same but in reverse.
damm i thought they were all aluminum
Yes, they have a full aluminum rib structure and aluminum exterior roof and skin.
How do you get OFF the roof?
Nope. People over 55 or 60 should never climb on the roof. Way too risky and prone to damage or fall. Pay a tech to do it.
