Liked. Shared. Commented. Up that dang algorithm because this needs to stop.

Gee, I would have thought with tithing that the church could support its missionaries without charging them for the privilege.

At least this girl got to proselytize. My Mexican cousins were only given the option to work on the church farms. Not one of my 15 cousins got to door knock.

Many of us go after being promised it will be one thing, only to be shocked it can be quite another

I got married in the temple and I don’t participate anymore but you don’t see me dedicating my life to exaggerate the misunderstandings from “people” who take leadership positions in the church..take the good from everything but to minimize the great efforts and strides the church has made for many families is almost a cult like anti-Mormon movement of its own.
Move on with your life and participate in any church as much as you like. You should definitely feel uncomfortable exaggerating the extent of your own personal circumstances to make the entirety of a religious group look dishonorable as a whole. Sad way to live…be like me an ex Mormon myself and step away and move on…you chose how much to participate and how extreme you wanted your relationship in the church to be and no one else. You should be respectful of that being the truth. Yall are not doing any favors. This was a huge disappointment to come across. What a shame of time.

I’m sorry, but do you know what a waste of time is? A waste of time is discrediting other people’s stories and other people’s trauma. I’m sure there are plenty who are happy to simply walk away and move on with their lives and I can respect if that’s you, but not everyone is going to be passive like that. A lot of people want to be proactive and may feel their way of healing is helping prevent other people from falling into the same trap. If you left Mormonism, I’m assuming it’s probably for a reason, so I’m kind of surprised you would discredit other people’s reasons for leaving and wanting to share those reasons publicly. Religious trauma is real, and how people decide to heal is not your place to judge. Period.

"move on with your life".. that's exactly what we're doing here. It's a beautiful community coming together to share and support one another's recovery. You sound a little stuck yourself, staying in a group you look down on and object to. It sounds like a good time to take your advice and move on, meaning that in the most sincere way, moving on to a group where you feel more comfortable. This is where we feel comfortable.
