I'm a new subscriber but from one Chris to another I love your content, I just purchased another c4 about 4 months ago and the stuff you've been putting up is definitely been a big help, Thanks Chris you Rock Dude ✌️ 👍
Hey Chris! 87 owner here. I’ve learned a lot about my car from watching your videos. I was wondering if you’d consider doing a video where you show how to replace the oil sending unit and pressure switch. There are some videos out there but they are old and grainy. I’m sure your car doesn’t need it but alot of C4 guys will eventually need to do this and you do a great job of explaining the process.
Hi Chris! Great job as usual! Love all things Royal Purple! I use it in my old ‘99 Chrysler 300, which I bought new in ‘99 and now has over 155,000 miles. I use their engine oil exclusively because a friend of mine had an old Toyota truck that unbeknownst to him, developed a bad engine oil leak and sump went dry. He drove it like that all around town till he checked his oil and found it missing! Towed to a shop, mechanic checked everything, NO PROBLEMS FOUND! Told him if he hadn’t had that high quality lube synthetic in his motor it would have been irreparably damaged! Been a fan of RP ever since.
I changed my gear oil yesterday. I have a jar with some hose barbs that I stick one of the hoses into the bottom of the differential and then I pull I vacuum into the jar via a hose on the other barb that sucks out the gear oil. I also used that same pump as you to fill the gear oil back in. But they are now selling gear oil in bags that would make it much easier as you can put on a clear tube on the end and squeeze the bag to push the fluid into the differential. They only do the bags with synthetic gear oil. Also, I've got the short allen socket thing for the diff plug. You can buy them from Summit Racing and even people selling stubbys on ebay. I know you are selling the C4. But I really recommend you pick up a book called "101 Projects for Your Corvette 1984-1996" It gives a lot of good info on doing repairs. Google will let you read sections of the book online for free so you can at least check parts of it out. I went with regular dino gear oil as I've read synthetic gear oil can eat away at older RTV that was used on cars before they started using synthetics. Though some call that a myth. But I've read of some people getting leaks out the bottom case after switching to synthetic gear oil. So I'll just stick to dino oil as my luck the case would start leaking out the bottom. You probably shouldn't have that problem since you just resealed it. Mine is probably still using the factory RTV.
Hey I’ve been loving your vids. I recently picked up my first Corvette: 1995 manual. Do you have a vid on how you got your undercarriage so clean? Acid wash? Degreaser and pressure washer?? Dry ice blasting!? I must know!
Sunex makes a set of stubby/short bits www.summitracing.com/parts/sxt-9138hsm and these from Performance Tool appear to be shorter than the normal ones www.summitracing.com/parts/wmr-w54287
You can use something like one of these to pump out the fluid. www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/fluid-transfer-pumps-manual/product-line/performance-tool-fluid-transfer-pumps
The correct wrench is a 3/8" hex wrench, not 9mm. The internal hex diameter of this plus is 0.385", and of course, 3/8" is 0.375". 9mm is "close" but 0.354", too undersized and you will risk stripping the plug out. This plug is not tapered and easily comes out with an allen wrench.
Does the car need to be level while doing this or can I have the back wheels on ramps?

Almost forgot about the deferential oil in my 85 dana 44.. its time to change thanks for sharing this video
👍
Thanks. Something to add to my to do list.
In a jam you could also use a 9 millimeter wrench on the Allen socket to loosen the plug. Thanks, shelbylancer454.
Great vlog Chris. Question: can you purchase a new drain/fill plug to get rid of the rounded off one?
Yes

I appreciate the info mate . Cheers from Queensland Australia .
Thanks!
Is it only possible to do this if the car is jacked up?
Do you know if it's possible to do with ramps?
Dern good video! Thumbs up 👍🏻~John
Thanks
The Allen wrenches work as well.

Time and elbow grease.
use a matco short 9mm allen socket with a long 1/4 drive wratchet. they are not very tight
Great video Chris will you be putting a new drain plug back on?
Didn't see a limited slip use designation on the Royal Purple. Just not visible on camera?
I pointed out on the front of the bottle that it includes friction modifier.
Thank you
Great vid, thx!
Where did you get that nice lift unit?
QuickJack
What is the red tag on the diff cap for?
It’s the reminder to use limited slip diff lube only.

How did you get the old oil out?
I had the diff out to reseal it. I’m pretty sure I mentioned that in the video.

Do u have a buyer yet?
Possibly
Put a little ratcheting box end wrench on the protruding hex shank. No brainer...
Or just use a normal 9mm allen wrench
😎🔥💯👍🏾…..great video Chris
Thanks
