I sobbed while watching this, I am SO happy for you! I am American Born Chinese and growing up, I also felt a huge piece missing from my life because I grew up in a small suburban town where there were barely any Chinese people. I grew up rejecting my Chinese heritage because I was bullied for being Chinese. I never saw China as a second home for me because I had very few memories there. It all changed when I went on my first real trip to my family's hometown in China at 24 years old. That trip made me see China as a second home, just like your trip did for you. I learned so much about my family that I never knew before because my family is pretty avoidant when it comes to talking about their past, since it's filled with traumatic events like starvation, illness, premature death, and a harrowing journey to America. I felt like a new chapter opened for me, just like for you. Now, I moved from the US to China and am on a journey with my partner to build a heritage seeking travel company that aims to reconnect overseas Chinese with their roots through root seeking trips to China. This story is a perfect example of the power of root seeking trips!

Hey Grace, thank you so much for your comment and sharing your story. I'm happy to hear that you made that trip to your family's hometown and could finally connect with your Chinese roots. I think there are many more who are on the same path and struggle to find a connection. It's inspiring to hear that you found that connection and are now helping others to find it! I wish you and your company good luck 💖💖.

I'm a mama who adopted our daughters and also had a child by birth. I am just so happy for you that you have been able to find your birth family and can now have so many more people who love you in your life. I imagine that your adoptive parents are very excited for you. I think it's impossible to truly love someone and not want that person to be surrounded by love. Love- true love can never be selfish or self focused so for me I pray every day that my daughter born in China and adopted by us can have the same fortune as you have. We love her so much- we have been so blessed to have her a part of our lives and I want her birth family to have the chance to reunite with her and experience that love. And I want our daughter to feel all of that love too. It is my dream and I hope it happens one day soon. As for you- thank you for sharing this wonderful journey and isn't it amazing what has happened! It is only going to get better and better. I'm so happy you will go back to China. Embrace your Chinese family- you both have alot of lost time to make up for!

Thank you so much for your kind comment and sharing your story. Yes, my adoptive parents have always been very supportive of me and they were super happy when they heard about the reunion. They argue that love can be shared. You can have 2 sets of parents. Finding my Chinese parents will change nothing, they are still the ones who raised me. I wish you and your family all the best. I hope that your daugther one day will find her biological parents too. Sending you much love!

Excellent video! Well done. Curious if the DNA test used (seemingly a paternity test through the police data base) matched you to both of your birth parents? If it matched to only one you will want to retest them when you go back with 23andMe or similar just to confirm. The police DNA test is not highly reliable.

There used to be an adoptee from Korea who was a TH-camr, don't know if she still is. She actually went back to Korea and lived and worked there for a while. She found her family and found out she was an identical twin but they gave her away. Apparently her Korean uncle was the one who made the decision when she was born, saying she didn't look like she had good genetic qualities and so her parents just kept the other twin. The sad thing was, she and her twin didn't hit it off at all......and whilst her birth mom welcomed her into the family, the other family members, even her father was so distant.
It was such a difficult situation for her because she didn't get on with her adoptive parents either.

    ❤ why u care about them !!!
They didn't care about you . Your parents are the ones that took care of you !!! ❤ they should've been looking for you the way you look for them you found them they didn't really care all these years . Your parents are the ones that brought you up not them they not even family just people who give you a nice meal !!! They had this time to look for You !!! It's always like that always a child looking for the parent your parents are the ones that gave you everything you needed all these years !!! ♥️😔☹️

I think it’s cruel to say they didn’t care about her. You don’t know the families circumstances. Maybe they were looking for her. They also have very limited information about what happened to her. She can love her adoptive and biological family. To want to know where you’re from is not wrong.

@ she shouldn't be looking for a family and she has a lot of lovely family where she's living she hasn't need them so don't say say it's not nice it's not nice what she's doing to a family now if I was her mother the real mother that she was adopted from I wouldn't like it that she would travel to look for a mother who only gave birth to her and she's crying over it boo-hoo

When you cuss in English it is funny and cute. Like WTF. You should know the F word is not acceptable in the media and in regular American conversation. It is ok if you feel comfortable with your company, but not good in front of regular people, esp. children

First of all, I am not American, I am Dutch 😉. Here, using that word has a total different connotation.
Second of all, saying 5 times the F word in a 17 minute video does not violate the TH-cam regulations. This video does not "belong" to American media.
Third of all, it's my own video and I have to freedom to say what I want. I only say it to emphasize how unbelievable every felt. It's my raw reaction/emotion. Meaning: it's not scripted.
Fourth of all, I have no viewers under 18 years old. The video is specifically not recommended to children below 18.
      I hope I made myself clear 🙏🏽

I cannot believe your parents actually left you outside on an open field!!! They put you out like a kitten no one wanted. They put you out and went on with their lives, how could they look you in the eyes?
They never even tried to put right their actions and search for you.
