Eddie looked the best and healthiest during this time period. Who else can agree?
He is not talkin about being old or young he is trying to say that Eddie looked healthier in the 90s than the early 2000s And 1980s Eddie did
@@rushfan3249 He started looking like he was strung out after Hagar left the band. When Eddie and Alex did that interview after the whole Roth MTV fiasco, He looked like he was partying too hard for sure..I remember being surprised, because just a couple years ago during the balance tour he looked a lot better
You know its a great tune when you get a stadium of people to shut up,stand still and just listen in awe.
And there weren’t 40,000 damn idiots with their stupid cell phones trying to show all their Internet “friends“ how they went and saw a concert but somehow missed the experience. Generations of idiots now.
This song hits hard right now. RIP EVH. Fly high
I’ve been in love with that girl at 1:03 since like forever! Always enjoy coming back to this video not only for a great song and performance, but to see that beautiful girl again! 😊
Thank you so much Sammy. I played this at my wife's funeral. She passed October 18th 4:20 a.m.. the old pothead that she was had to pass on 420. She loved Eagles she loved to fly she was born again and went to the sky. Thanks Sammy excellent tune
So sorry for her passing, always remember she's right beside you everyday, not in body but her spirit. I'm sure she's smiling down at you and singing with every blow of the wind. Keep the faith it will carry you through.
Sorry for your loss…… stay strong…God Bless❤️🤟🏾
May she rest in peace 🙏 ❤️
Where Eagles Fly
Prayers
Perfect song for a tribute for Eddie Van Halen.
yeah, and the idiot didn't know it !! lol.
no was not for him for sure!!!
You suck. You hit my feelings
It's sunday morning August 21,2022 10 a.m and the Rock & Roll Road Trip brought me here. Love Sammy Hagar.
Eddie adds so much to this song with that flawless solo at the end. Back when his playing was perfect and didn't just noodle
The best years of Van Halen were when Sammy was with them. Love, love, love him!!
Damn right! The band sounded so powerful and compact! Like a single unit, specially live... That never happened with Roth...
Oh hell yeah!!
@@eanayac Maybe David Lee Roth helped a lot to bring Van Halen to that point where they were when Sammy became lead vocalist.
I think that this is the best live version of a Sammy Hagar song played by VH: Van Halen - Give To Live - th-cam.com/video/a6DGa_CUyRs/w-d-xo.html I have not heard many live songs of Van Halen/Roth.
That aint what Eddie thought...
I’ll say this. I saw both versions of Van Halen live twice. This narrative now about Roth being a better front man is a myth. He was GREAT on camera. In music videos Roth was a genius performer. But because he did high kicks and shaked his ass did not make him a great front man in concert. He didn’t engage with the audience as well as Sammy (and others) and didn’t really generate any real energy. Van Halen had far more energy in concert with Sammy and sounded infinitely better.
This song is perfect for the time...Rest in peace EVH 🎸
Now Eddie can fly with the eagles
Eddie still playing in the sky!!! We will miss you a lot Edward!!!
Amen I love and miss him
Eddie's solo progressed over the years on this song. On the Balance tour, it brought me to tears. I got to hear and see it three times live on the Balance tour, once from the 5th row right in front of him.
Yeah, the melodic rise and falls he created really hit in the pocket with this song. Great song brought to perfection by 2 great musicians.
Best version of this song on TH-cam. Eddie's guitar lead gives this Sammy song a real boost. Wish he was still here with us. Greatest guitarists ever.
100% agree! Eddie leading the band back in to finish it is soo good!
Chills man, I get chills when I hear the feeling in this version
My favorite part about this version was when the band joined in at the end and Eddie did a very tasty lead over that.
I agree! The band coming in at the end was the 💣
I get goosebumps and cry every time Eddie comes in at the end especially when he gets on the mic and goes “my buddy…Sammy Hagar”
I love that part too!
@@LadyBugg68Oh yeah!! I agree!
Yes you nailed it. This is the best version of this song.
Just the best!
Love this...Sammy and Eddie were amazing together! I want this song played at my funeral.
Absolutely the most spectacular ending to any Van Halen song ever! Saw them do it.
Of course I mean a Van Halenized Sammy song!
I did too. Ed played an extended version of this outro at one of the shows I saw on the Balance tour, and I was literally brought to tears.
Me too. I feel so lucky I had a chance to see these guy’s multiple times.
I was there in Toronto what a killer show
Actually I like the studio version much better
Right on.van halen forever.
Just saw this for the first time. I caught myself with an ear to ear smile when Ed, Mike and Al came in towards the end. Yep. RIP Edward, where eagles fly...
I was there. Both nights. Will never forget it.
Lucky you!!!!!! 🦅
Me too !
Best concert of my life was Van Halen's Balance tour in 1995. Moline, IL. They performed it just like here, with the video screen showing an eagle's point of view. Such a great song. Such a great group. RIP Eddie. You are missed.
Damn...I absolutely love how melodic Ed"s guitar playing is here. I would LOVE to hear whatever it is that he is playing by itself!
Miss Van Hagar so much
bannsidereddie it was something special!
How can it be Van Hagar when he completed Van
Halen???
i watch this show and old Van Halen concerts with DLR(i've seen them both)and Sammy is Incredible.I must have been too high with DLR to see the difference. lol
Early this morning, I was with my friend in a #kansascity #icu and held his hand and played this song/video for him during his last hours on Earth. #SammyHagar #VanHalen 3/22/2023🦅🕯️💔💛✨
This version still gives me goosebumps.
I was there 7th row... right infront of Eddie
Love this tune one of my favs. Eddie we love you.
I wish they could've stayed together.so powerful when eddie kicked the electric in.god bless you edward.
My favorite Sammy song.. Thanks Sammy, This song keep me from not giving up after brain surgery.. 💙💙💙💙
Tia m prayers out for you
This song cured me of alcoholism. Love it. Hope you are good
God bless from me
Amazing , song as a vehicle to relate to losing a loved one or any life pitfall .. ❤️
@@lawncuttingplusdelta Thru the ups and downs in life, this song means it all!
This is just about one of the most beautiful rock songs I think could be written. I'd like to have heard VH play the whole thing non-aucustically. This is still amazing though.
I have 50+ years of music in my head. This is top 15 all time. Just a beautiful song Sammy!!! Have to mention that I love eagles. The EVH back on this is just gravy!!!
Farewell, Eddie. God Bless ya's.
Truly one of the very best songs by Sammy. So glad to see the band show up to support him with this! Just amazing
unreal! Im so happy and thankful i grew up with real music and unreal talent. Sad it no longer exists.
When you think of the finest things in life. Please think about this peaceful song which we need more of. When you want the best take a look at this video a few times and know you have the best in Sammy & Eddie. RIP Ed I truly hope that you & Sammy made peace with with each other.
I don't cry easily. This however....
Same here. 🦅
What an opener! It blows my mind that these guys walked away from sounding this great. The industry has changed, music has morphed, but a great show is still great!
Eddie's freaking ego prevents them from Uniting.Sad!
He rode his moped
I was lucky enough to see that VH performance some 25 yrs ago. RIP EVH
Sammy Hagar let a new look to Van Halen's songs...Eagles Fly, one of his best lyrics...great guy!!! It's Cabo Wabo, man!!
1995 Nashville, TN.
2nd row.
Center stage.
I loved EVERY minute of that Show.
R.I.P. Eddie!
I love it when Sammy uses harmonics in his solo.
I want this played at my funeral.
good thought,i might steal your idea LOL
Me too 🦅
Me three lol
Yes, 53 years from now, after I turn 100 years old, I want this or “Dreams” played at mine or I’m not going.
Get in line🤘🏼
Such a beautiful song. Love you Sammy!!! Edward, what you left behind is above. I'm so sorry that people on this earth are oblivious. You will be remembered in a way that you should be. Hope you cross my mom and dad up there.
I love Eddie coming in on the end of the song. Just enough so that it's still Sammy's song. Simply Awesome.
Eddie was so proud of Sammy at the end of this performance❤
Sammy has the.best songs. Tells stories if true life experiences, that many people can relate too. Rock on Sammy!
I was at van halen 94 in Chicago, and I fucking leapt up YELLING and almost crying when he performed this song.
Gets this ole boy so emotion a l before the feeling of the song is so well projected!
This will be played at my funeral.
I wish there were more songs that made me feel like this. :(
Love Sammy and the rest of these guys ❤️😎
beautiful!!!
now that's rock n roll at its finest!!!!!
I absolutely loved the tone from the EBMM EVH and the Peavey 5150. Eddie was truly a genius when it came to tone. The sad realization that this line up will never happen again. R.I.P. Eddie.
I'm 💔...I feel like a childhood friend passed away. Always held out hope that they'd reunite. I follow Sammy on FB and watched his Birthday Bash 2 weeks ago. It was good to see half of the former line-up. Maybe in tribute, they'll have a reunion with Sammy, Mike and Alex? 🤞🤞🤞
@@jacquelinematthew1021 I think a lot of us wish that would happen. Maybe something with Alex and Wolfgang just to make a weird closer for us fans. But with all do respect to them, I think it's best to leave it as is and just know we had some amazing songs and concerts from them and more to come, just without Ed. It's definitely heart breaking
O nível do Van Hallen cm Sammy Hagar, ultrapassa as nuvens!!!
Definitely gives me a feeling of hope and peace. I miss this Van Halen so much! ❤
Thankfully i saw them perform this a few times in concert but man... I miss those amazing times.
Just a reminder of. What a powerhouse they were with Sammy’s influence!!!
Egos destroyed it!!
#damnshame
It sucks that Eddie Fucked it up!
Totally agree with you 👍 💯 This was one of the best bands that ever was.
Plenty go around....
Ray Daniels destroyed it.
Sammy Hagar, multi-talented: greatest voice in rock, ever!
I couldn't agree more. Perfection
Absolutely agree
We got to see Sammy and Van Halen play this at the Los Angeles Forum. Man it Rocked. 🎸🎶
What Soul. at it best One of the best songs ever written
I Will Never Forget Sammy Playing This During A Soundcheck At Alpine Valley Music Theatre In Wisconsin For The Monsters Of Rock Tour!! That Acoustic Sound, And Just Him Singing" Amazing!
This song just flat out has some great feeling to it. Pure talent on every level from all of these guys!
I’m so glad Eddie and Sammy became friends before it was too late!!! RIP Edward!
RIP King Edward. This is a perfect example that shows how incredible he was as a rhythm guitar player. That piece he plays at the end of the song is not original to the song. If you listen to the recorded track on Sam's last solo album (I Never Said Goodbye) you will hear something completely different. I always wondered if he made it up on the spot that night in Toronto. Just incredible sounding and made a great tune even better. Thankful that it got recorded on this clip.
Beautiful song. Always been one of my favorites. Doesn't get enough play
Saw this live... twice ❤❤❤
I loved that. I want that song at my memorial if I get one.
Me too!
Thank you for singing this for us like you meant it brother! Unbelievable.
This is just crazy good on every level!
R.i.P Eddie FLY HIGH
Flying with the eagles!!
Just watched this again after a few years. Still a moving and inspirational song. Would be nice one day to hear it played again by the same group.
Would it ever!
Brilliant song, Sammy was the first cassette that I ever bought, remember "Plain Jane ". Eddy Van Halen will never be replaced.
Fly high rockin the heavens eddie. You are missed.
Together Sammy and Eddie were the BEST!
Sammy's best song ever!!!
Great version of a great song
Been on a Red Rocker kick of late would love to see him live again.
I really love this song and especially this video. I’m so happy Eddie gave this nuanced guitar part at the end. Absolutely beautiful.
Such a powerful ballad, by Sammy Hagar, channeling Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. A very beautiful and Patriotic song!!!!!
I miss those days of Sammy and Halen
Definitely the best vh frontman!!
love that Eddie played bass on the studio recording of this...if I remember correctly...
Yep, you remember correctly. 👍
Eady van Halen you we're the man. R.I.P GOD BLESS HIM.
He went to meet our heavenly father. In the sky.
Saw these boys in concert back in 91 . i miss Van Hagar
Eddie makes this song with the solo at the end. RIP EVH.
Best live rendition I've heard from Sammy yet - this Toronto one.
From what I've seen, anything that says Sammy and Toronto in the same sentence is unbelievably great.
I was there in Toronto in the seventh row
I’ve been a Sammy Hagar fan since I saw him open for Boston in St. Louis in 1978. He rocked the house. When he hooked up with Van Halen I thought, why would he do that? Then I went to their 1st concert in St.L and discovered why. They became a supergroup. It’s too bad Sammy & Eddie couldn’t work out their differences. We missed out on a lot of great music. RIP Eddie
Love Sammy Ive Been A Fan since The Day's Of Montrose In The Early 70s I'll Be 61 Yrs Old I Still Crank Out Anything With Sammy I Loved Van Halen Before Sammy Loved Them Even More With Sammy I Seen Him With His Solo Projects And VH Many Many Time's
An American treasure
this song and performance is yet another testament that cements the truth, that Sam can do Dave, but Dave can never do Sam 😁😆🤣🤣🤣
Sunday morning, nine A.M.
I saw fire in the sky
I felt my heart pound in my chest
I heard an eagle cry
Hey!
I'm alive when I breathe the air
I feel the wind smell the earth in the air
I watch an eagle rise above the trees
Project myself into what he sees
So take me away
Come on fly me away
Lift me up so high
Where eagles fly
I often dreamed that I could sail through the sky
I've always wished I could fly
The simple life of a bird on the wing
Oh, Lord, I could sing
Take me away
Come on, fly me away
Lift me up so high
Where eagles fly
Now I'm alive and I breathe the air
They wash the earth from my face
I catch a glimpse of another dream
I turned, I looked, I turned and looked again, 'cause I see no trace
Take me away
Come on, fly me away
I want to fly away, yeah
Pick me up so high
Where eagles fly
Yeah
Oh, yeah!
C'mon baby!
Where eagles fly
Come on take me away
I want to fly away
Where eagles fly
You can run me away
Chase me away
Sail me away
Fly me away
Run away with me, baby
Where eagles fly
Oh, yeah...
Songwriters: Sammy Hagar
I always thought Sammy could have sung this song as a tribute after 9/11.
IMO Sammy's best vocal performance caught on video.
Hard to believe eddie is gone! Flying with the eagles
Eddie we will always love you.
You can always tell a Van Halen 1995 show just by Alex's neck brace! I've been lucky enough to see them 5 times. Once with Dave, once with Gary and 3 times with Sammy, including in 1995 with Alex and his neck brace! I'd love to add a 6th time...
RIP EDDIE.....FLY HIGH!!!
yes the ending is just awesome the band kicks in at the end amazing
Sammy, um dos maiores de todos os tempos, indiscutivelmente!!!
This song came out right after Sammy joined VH. Eddie played bass on the song in the studio.
One of the best if not the best talents in Rock history
