The remastered version of M.L.W. Battle Riot Six looks, and sounds a little better than it did previously.
yes, the image is at 60 fps
Happy this was cleaned up. Better production should be a medium-term goal for the company. It's certainly not cheap, but in terms of value for dollars, it's the best way to add equity.
Good:
- Love to see attention on guys who first got attention in MLW, specifically Alex Kane, Brett Ryan Gosselin, and Josh Bishop, among others.
- Liking the dynamic of multiple powerful factions in MLW, and taking a cue from New Japan where they're structured more like fight camps is a good concept.
- Tom Lawlor was the MVP and then some of this show, and he's one of MLW's best assets as one who can do banger matches, do intense mic work, and also do great comedy. Definitely keep him around the top.
- Dave Marquez is a gem. Adds a ton.
- Minoru Suzuki. I'm scared if I don't praise him, he'll come for me.
Room for Improvement:
- Kojima comes off as a short term champion, and having two belts on him doesn't say great things about there being plans for the future. Moving them onto somebody who's going to be around longer would be a good step.
- Ritual Combat seemed unnecessarily gimmicky and it didn't come off great, through no fault of Alex or AJ. I almost feel like a lumberjack match would've worked better. No need to deviate from the simple stuff gimmick wise.
- Would've maybe liked another women's match, just to avoid keeping the division too roped off from everything else.
Overall, very good show, seeds are there for good things in the near future.
So ummm Murder Grandpa is with Contra - everyone just give up...

Entered #24, eliminated at #31 (OTR by Timothy Thatcher), had two eliminations to his name (Violent J by pinfall, Kim Chee by pinfall), and they also gave him a somewhat memorable Panama Sunrise spot on Suge D (if a little sloppy in execution). For his third-ever match, I'd call that a good showing. He spent a lot of it working with Minoru Suzuki, so one hopes he got a few additional lessons from a Japanese legend.
