I once asked a girl out, being honest with her, I told her that I was broke but still wanted a chance to get to know her. I took her to Pizza Street for the $2.99 buffet. We've been happily married now for 18 years.
Wtf YES. Even if you had like no money at all I still saw possibility for cuteness and healthy romance, but 2.99 PIZZA BUFFET?! NVM the difference inflation has made, resourcefulness is an AMAZING quality to bring to the table! 💪❤
Cheapest date: Stood in the card section of a Hallmark store and handed each other cards- from sentimental to humorous- on our wedding anniversary. Now married 50 years!
McDonald’s drive through for 1st date. Ate it overlooking a star lit golf course. We were broke together and grew together. Still with her 25 years later, she stuck around while we were building and will FIRE in the next 5 years. The real ones are out there.

I made up a date for my girlfriend a while back. We visited a mall and went into three different stores. In each store, we would separately look for two items that were close (but not identical) in price. Then we’d each try to guess which item was more expensive, and if we were correct, we’d score points. In the first store, the guess was worth 1 point. The second, 2 points. The third, 3 points. Then afterwards, we went to 5 Below and got to buy something for ourselves, paid for by the other, based on how many points we earned ($6 maximum). I had 2 points so she bought me a sticker that I picked out that said “Aloe you vera much” It was fun, and we’re going to do it again but since we’re now engaged, the next plan is to do it in furniture stores.
My husband always likes to remind me about the episode of I think it was Reno 911 where the guy takes the girl on a date with a coupon and after he orders he hands to coupon to the waiter and says “and the lady will have something of equal or lesser value”. 😂😂
My wife and I bought an old farm house back in the ‘80s ($16,000), but it didn’t have running water. We put that in (inexpensively) and didn’t have to worry about the kids destroying the house the way that kids do. In fact, many of their friends liked to come over, because they weren’t stressed about spilling anything on our old carpets, etc. We often had a dozen of kids over, and my wife would cook for them (simple things like “home made” Mac and cheese). Our motto was, “If you can catch it, you can eat it.” (Our dogs and cats were obviously fast enough to avoid being eaten). :) My wife and I are now very comfortably retired and “living the dream” in a log house in Montana. So, yeah, don’t spend all that you earn!
06:00 My late sister took out 5k in student loans to go to a for profit school college. She was unable to pay because of health issues. When she died just 14 years after graduating, she owed 50K because of penalties and interest. That means her initial debt grew TEN TIMES. Do NOT take out federal student loans.
In regards to that first video, my checking account receipt would look low too. I only keep enough in checking to cover the bills. That's because I keep most excess cash in a high yield savings account where it earns decent interest. I'm sure a lot of others do this too.
While not the cheapest date I did have a very inexpensive courtship prior to marriage. My wife’s idea of an ideal date was dinner at Sweet Tomatoes and then browsing the discount book tables at the Barnes & Noble bookstore. Started dating in 98 and married two years later. Sure we did some other things for dating like the traditional dinner & a movie or Sunday Brunch but seriously, we mostly ate salads and looked for deals on books. So I guess that is the benefit of dating an English Lit major. 😊.
My favorite cheapest date cost $0. Last summer, when we were living in Bentonville, AR, we found out that Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top were playing the Walmart Amp. Anyone who's been around there knows that you can hear those concerts from any of the surrounding parking lots. There's a wall you can sit on at the back of the parking lot that's directly in front of the Amp, so we paid $0 and enjoyed the entire concert for free. Sure, we did't get the crowd experience, but we really just wanted to listen to this one, being in the venue wasn't the important part for us. We were one of several couples out there doing the same. We have also done the same thing for the 4th of July the past couple of years. The orchestra plays the Walmart Amp and we sit in our lawn chairs in a nearby parking lot and get to enjoy the music and fireworks for free! Fun night and highly recommend if you have an outdoor concert venue near you.
I'm a generous tipper because I lived the first handful of my adult life living off of tips. At Bonnaroo this summer, I tipped my minimum of 15% at every kiosk we purchased from. My husband pulled me aside after the third or 4th time and said "It feels weird to tip for a hat or tshirt or unopened can of beer. Can we slow down a bit?" I hadn't even realized that EVERY kiosk was prompting tips no matter what you'd bought. Made me feel like a goober for being so thoughtless.
I am so glad I had a full ride for college, cuz that was around 120k of free money...only have about 5k of loans left that I took out for room and board, books, etc. Paying them back now, at the home stretch!
Cheap date- visit an arboretum (or botanical garden for a little more $). They are beautiful, have walking paths through the plantings and benches to sit. Usually free of very low cost.
Just learned that my neighbor is a nurse has student loans for 3 decades. Oh my gosh in between buying brand new cars and a house and remodeling 3 rooms of her home. I think she could have made payments and retired that student loan debt.
You can have 200 dollars in a checking account and 100k in a saving account or investing account at the same bank. (Especially when you are spreading out your disposable income into these places at the end of the month.) You can also have 10k in a checking account and 100k in creditcard debt. Fishing account balances out of the trash does not say much.
The sad thing is,now we have folks saying "WE ARE NOT GONNA PAY BACK OUR Student Loans". Not understanding....The Feds WILL GET THEIR MONEY ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. But by time the get around to it(enough time for your loan to double thanks to interest. THEY WILL MAKE YOU HOMELESS AT 70 TO GET THEIR MONEY😢

We have cheap dates by splitting one entree, no apps and drink water. Usually pay $20-30 out the door. We get discounted gift cards at Costco for local restaurants, an extra 20% off 😊
Me and my girl normally get an appetizer and split one entree. Some restaurants have deals if you go mon-thur. We also like to drink but we pre game that stuff and I also carry a flask.
When we hit baby step four, I said I’m going to start buying those gift cards from the restaurants and Sam’s Club each fall and that will be our eating out budget for the next year.
I like dates that are cheap and CREATIVE! Read this one: With only $3 each, go to your nearest Dollar Tree (now $1.25.) Plan to meet up after 15-20 minutes. Buy 2 items for your partner: One that reminds you of a quality you love/admire about them, one that brings back a shared memory. Then go to someplace fun and free to share them. One of my own cheapest dates was making paper Christmas ornaments for a tree and decorating it together. My adult kids are big on board games and puzzles.
Haha my cheapest date has been $5. That was the fee we had to pay for parking. It was a beautiful hike during a sunset, we have amazing sunsets here in Las Cruces NM.
The cheapest date I have ever been on was free! For months I would get people’s unused Chick Fil-a receipts and then scan them for the points. I did this enough with friends and families that I worked my way up to a CFA Red Member and CFA would send me free rewards weekly. I would then use those rewards on a Monday and get more free rewards through a promotion they ran. I ended up getting dinner for my girlfriend and I completely free at Chick-Fil-A! Still do this to this day
@@ChrisJohnston-z7uyou remind me of the time I asked my Mamaw to stop giving me money for my birthday, etc. so she would have enough to take care of herself longer. Months later I learned that it was breaking her heart because it gave her joy to be able to give me a few bucks 2 or 3 times a year. I only share content that really speaks to me and I really want to share with someone I really care about. Yes, it annoys my wife that I send her a couple of TH-cam links a month, but we don't get to talk much, so I send them to her anyway.
Chill out everyone - we send them back and forth. It was organic. It’s just a little funny moment we find and share to tell someone we are thinking of them!
Best date nights for my wife and i are the home cooked meals. TV off. At the dinner table. Listening to some good music we both love and enjoy. And a glass of wine. Then after dinner we sit outside on our patio and enjoy the weather.
Hubs and I committed to date night once a week no matter what. Cheapest date was going thru McDonalds drive thru for 49 cent soft serve each and sat in the car and talked. We knew those dates wouldn’t last forever but we would. Baby step 7 now. It can be done!
Cheap dates: Winter: heat up soup and put into a thermos. Butter some bread up, pack drinks and a dessert. Drive to a beautiful spot and eat in your car. Picnic in the car. Summer: do the same thing but outside and pack summer food. Pick something like playing a nostalgic video game, get a sitter, stay home and play video games. Our local movie theater had 40$ gift cards for 25$...we bought a bunch. That's a pretty big savings on going to the movies. Roller skating can be cheap with coupons and eating at home. Bowling can be cheap if you find a locally owned bowling alley or are in the military and live near a base with an alley. If you go with friends 2 games can take up 2 hours and you get time to mingle and hang out while your spouse does, too. Sometimes both partners need to recharge, but you're still together. Go for a hike at the nearest state park. You'd be surprised how awesome this is.
Cheapest date I’ve ever been on: My husband and I received gift passes for a massage place and got free foot massages! And then we used our gift card from our pastor to go to Olive Garden and eat for free. ❤
Facts. Sam’s Club allows mobile ordering in their café. It’s a feature that I requested for years. So when we go to get gas sometimes after church, we can feed the entire family of 5 on a Sunday afternoon lunch for less than six dollars or nine dollars depending on what we get.
Genuine question, I don't understand this about Americans - if you're struggling so much, why do you people still eat outside rather than cooking at home?
Hahahaha from someone immigrating to this country from El Salvador lol his comment just got me like 'Hey I am from there lol' . One of my biggest fears is to have an emergency and not have the funds. Thankfully, I have one but still, there's the ring of ' What if it's not enough?, etc' anyway please ppl reading this comment: Have an emergency fund!
My Wife and I used to do IKEA dates where we we went to the store cafeteria. Good cheap eats. But you need to be careful against IKEA impulse purchases.
Cheapest and, honestly, one of my favorite memories. When my husband was alive, we waited until the kids went to bed. Have a late movie and dinner date indoors. Either we would rent movies from the library or netflix.
Cheapest but one of the best dates: night monumenting in college in DC. Basically walking around the national mall and tidal basin under the moonlight. ❤
Favorite Free Date- First Friday at local Art Gallery’s Great Free Food. Interesting Art and People watching is always fun. Throw in one of our favorites is located on the 3 floor and we use the stairs. A workout. 😆. 7 kids 0 Debt 28 years married ❤️
My husband and I went on vacation in our basement for our third wedding anniversary. We only ate out. Did some inexpensive fun things. I really enjoyed it !
Cheap date? Well, it's not the cheapest EVER, but shortly after my husband and I started dating, he announced to a family friend that he was taking me out. She asked where we were going, and he said, "The Dollar Store!" She replied, "You can't take a new girlfriend to the dollar store on a date!" I replied, "Of course he can! I love the dollar store!" We went, and had a great time. He bought me everything I wanted in the whole store ; )
Went to a local Irish pub when my husband and I were dating. Server forgot a out our table and comped our entire meal. Wasn't our intent but definitely the cheapest date we had. (We did tip her really well though, mistakes happen. )
Some of my favorite date nights are... shopping for necessities at Walmart + splitting a meal at Steak and Shake with coupons + conversation and laughter. ❤😊 There's joy and love in the simplicity, my friends!
We made $500,000 a year mowing lawns. I think he spent more than that every year because all our equipment was new every year with loans and we took lots of family vacations. We went bankrupt. After making payments on our house for 28 years, we owed more than we started with.
Her video on student loans is due to why they never get paid down and are such a big problem. The way they are structured is insane and stupid. 10 year of your loan are a mix of negative amortization payments and interest only payments. If you make the minimum payment like most people do, you make no progress against your debt. Almost like making the minimum payment on your credit card but worse.
Student loan woman is not making the minimum payment. The original minimum payment on installment debt will pay the debt down in the originally prescribed amount of time. She clearly negotiated paying LESS than the original minimum payment. She's paying so much less that she's not even covering the amount of interest that accrues on a monthly basis.
I can cook a mean pasta dish with homemade tomato sauce. Then set up a nice table, with dessert and a movie ready to go. That is my go to but right now I am taking a break from dating to get my life in order.
I always click 'No tip" in none sit down restaurants. I don't care if they know or if they judge me, I work hard for my money and every unnecessary tip is money being taken away for my family that can be used to buy my daughter a treat.
Cheapest date- My husband and I would go to a book store in town that had a coffee shop inside. They had tables all around the store with bored games . So we would go there get coffee and play chess. Less than $5 bucks 😂
In respects to the first video, I keep everything but a couple hundred dollars in my money market account incase I get scammed or lose the card (it also makes me think for purchases when I have to log in online and transfer money to spend). So have fun seeing I have $200 available, I got 6 figures between my emergency fund, CD's, and my 401k lol.
@@createone100Certificates of Deposit. It's like a high-yield savings account except your money is locked up for a couple of years and the interest rate is fixed for a couple of years.
Great stuff. We have been trying to teach our 16 year old about financial decisions. Has anyone at Dave Ramsey ever made any videos about teach kids while they are still young to be financially responsible?
When I was in high school my girlfriend and I both worked at subway so I would take her there for dinner because we would get the food for free. Then I’d take her to the video store to rent a movie. Normally I got the older $1 movies but when I really wanted to impress her I’d pick out the new release😎
Looks like the student loan repayment scheme is the same as the credit card scheme of the 80's - where 'minimum payment' thing was doing the same thing only with credit cards - until congress passed laws against it (I think). Either way, that 'repayment' discussion in the 'news' is what kept me from getting a bunch of credit cards with balances (I had/have one and it is paid off every month - never paid interest).
In my dating years I went out with a guy who took me to the fanciest restaurant in town. I also went out with a guy who bought me grocery store Chinese food. Guess which one I married? (Hint: it wasn’t the fancy one)
If I can bite my life and when on the fact that 1 day the entire population working population of the United States of America what shot at 1 voice not to pay any taxes. The I hope would force the IRS to piss off. Because they were never voted upon by Congress. To begin with They are not a legal entity in the united states of america
I wouldn't make any assumptions on the receipts from the trash can at all. Those people could have other accounts. The only reason to pay for a SAM's club or COSTCO membership is to get that $1.50 hot dog combo. Best bargain in the world. That alone can cut your food bill by $200 a month.
Cheap date nights: My hubs and I were very low income for a long time but staid out of debt. On chilly nights, we’d make hot cocoa or tea and drive to Tempe Towne Lake to go for walks together. We also enjoy watching newsbloopers on TH-cam lol
Well, that only applause, if you from your own work from your paychecks have never put a single penny into that account. Otherwise guess what you're paying for it also.. Not rocket science
My first job paid $1/hr as a pizza maker. My last job paid $65/hr as a Project Manager 16 years ago when I retired. 16 years into retirement, I have $500K+ in savings/Roth/CDs now and have no debt. My retirement income is $42K/year and I've never drawn from savings. I'm not the first video or the second video, but I've done OK. I'm 74 and don't think I'm going to run out of money. But if everything crashes, I still know what to do. Being out of debt is an advantage, whiskey is still cheap, and I'm not a tobacco user. Survivor mode...engage!
Student loans can’t grow on the new SAVE plan, because any interest above your minimum payment is waived. Still not great, but just a point of fact about the way income-based repayments work now.
That trash bin of receipts looks like my checking account. I always restrict myself in regards of buying so i dump as much as I think reasonable in my savings account at the beginning of the month (I'm paid monthly). Sometimes i can end the month and still leave there 100€. Some other months i leave there cents. In end of the world months, I gotta go to my savings account and take a bit of cash. Stuff anybody goes through for sure .
He mentioned a 7% interest rate. That interest rate on an $80,000 loan would be $533 per month in interest. If she was doing an income based repayment plan, she may have a lower minimum payment which sounds nice but generally doesn't even cover the interest so the balance will continue to grow
That video is misleading she either missed payments early or lied about those numbers or their private and have crazy interest rates because if they were fed loans the standard repayment plan pays them off in 10 years
@@dylanturner9628I too was thinking that the math was not mathing. It sounds like a private, high interest, interest only loan where the payments made are used to pay off the interest and not used towards the principal amount borrowed: if you only pay the interest and the principal doesn't get reduced, the interests will always increase and the loan will go on forever. I found out about this type of loan from an Inside Edition segment about student loans: as usual they chose the worst examples and interviewed people who weren't that smart about money or personal finance. The loan of one of the ladies interviewed seemed be structured in the same way this lady's student loan is structured: she complained saying 'and pay this amount monthly and I've been paying for a long time and it only goes towards interest and I still owe this.... large amount' and I thought to myself that 'duh if the principal isn't reducing therefore the interests will never reduce. I didn't know about interest only loans then but I thought to myself that the loan structure didn't make any sense and I made that conclusion by watching her being interviewed for only about 2 minutes but she herself couldn't connect the dots. Any one who did simple interest in 5th grade should know that if you are only putting down money towards the interest and not the principal, it would be very hard to pay off the loan: Interest only loans are very predatory and prey on the mathematically illiterate: I can't believe a country like the US allows it. I was born, bred and still live in Nigeria and our interest rates have always been astronomical at about 25%- 30% per annum but they are waaaaaaay better than these evil interest-only loans.
I live in California where the nature and weather is divine all year round so too many cheap dates at the beach, redwoods, waterfalls, lakes, snow, deserts usually involving picnics & hikes. I won money on a date once playing blackjack & we used it to go to sushi. That would be the cheapest because we got free food.
This is why math and personal finance needs to be mandatory (and allocated enough budget for good teachers to teach well). She must have seen those $450 monthly payments and thought "Oh, that's such a large amount, surely this debt is gonna be over in no time !", not realizing that this doesn't even cover the interest. I'm mad that such a scummy practice is legal at all, but I'm even more mad that someone could go through college + ten years of work without even realizing their debt is growing. That's a failure of the school system.

Winter: heat up soup and put into a thermos.
Cheapest date I’ve ever been on:
My husband and I received gift passes for a massage place and got free foot massages! And then we used our gift card from our pastor to go to Olive Garden and eat for free.
❤
Bruh Costco food court has saved me so many times over here in baby step 2
Oops. Knowing I fueled this video. Sorry George 😂
Same 😂
Same 😂 oops
Cheapest but one of the best dates: night monumenting in college in DC. Basically walking around the national mall and tidal basin under the moonlight. ❤
I am so upset that the videos that I sent you haven’t made this list…. I WILL NOW SEND MORE OF THEM!
Not specific to this video, but all of the Ramsey videos help keep me motivated so THANKS!
Favorite Free Date- First Friday at local Art Gallery’s Great Free Food. Interesting Art and People watching is always fun. Throw in one of our favorites is located on the 3 floor and we use the stairs. A workout. 😆.
7 kids
0 Debt
28 years married ❤️
My daughter, an EMT, has been offered tips by the patients.
George, you’re our man! That’s why we send you all and any videos. 😂 Keep it up man!
To be fair, I only keep a couple hundred dollars in my checking account too, unless a bill is due this week.
Cheapest date: chipotle about 4 years ago. Total was like $14 for 2 bowls and queso
My husband and I went on vacation in our basement for our third wedding anniversary. We only ate out. Did some inexpensive fun things. I really enjoyed it !
The tipping one had me lol
The candles weren't even lit!!!! HA!
Literally had a date night in the car with food from AM/PM 🤷 but also at-home dates (if you can leave the kids) are really nice.
(We did tip her really well though, mistakes happen. )
A Cosmo Kramer Assman clip would have been a perfect cut to for that proctologist part 😂
If someone's judging someone's financial status based on 1 bank account balance, they might not know enough about money to judge lol
George, you should feel honored that so many people think of you when we see money videos. 😅😂❤
I did not see a wedding ring on the Costco woman. Lol. Thanks, George!
Split the Costco hot dog combo on special occasions. On regular days, just eat the free samples.
That feels right, it made me smile. :)
Cheapest date I’ve been on was free theatre tickets to the local university stage production
She's paying so much less that she's not even covering the amount of interest that accrues on a monthly basis.
yea that math in the video doesn't work out
I am guessing it is an interest only loan.
It can also be a loan that conpunding daily instead of yearly.
@@MeakH1 Virtually all installment loans compound daily. I don't know where people got the impression that there are loans that compound annually.
@@BTrain-is8ch well not all loans are the same. Can be due to the fact some can be simple or compounded, aka lack of knowledge (reasonable).
The bank account receipts only show what they have in their checking account not in their savings account.
CD’s??
@@createone100Certificates of Deposit. It's like a high-yield savings account except your money is locked up for a couple of years and the interest rate is fixed for a couple of years.
That’s crazy, in Canada student loans are from the government and federal loans have 0% interest.
Great stuff. We have been trying to teach our 16 year old about financial decisions. Has anyone at Dave Ramsey ever made any videos about teach kids while they are still young to be financially responsible?
We had our teens go through FPU with us.
Babe wake up… a new George Kamel video just dropped!
Rob Dyrdek has always been the man. Such a cool and honest dude
Reserved a table at White Castle for valentines day
I think they do that at Waffle House , too!
When I was in high school my girlfriend and I both worked at subway so I would take her there for dinner because we would get the food for free. Then I’d take her to the video store to rent a movie. Normally I got the older $1 movies but when I really wanted to impress her I’d pick out the new release😎
It's actually crazy how many people graduate college without understanding how interest works.
We hike for a cheap date. Only cost gas to get to the trailhead, and it's a great way to get out and stay healthy.
Too bad the government is sanctioning bad behavior.
America isn’t outright “going through it”. Most people in America are just terrible with their money.
The “Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction?” reference made my heart happy 😊
Ooh love the term "guilt tipping" interesting play.
That first joke about Jan 1st and Planet Fitness 🤣
In my dating years I went out with a guy who took me to the fanciest restaurant in town. I also went out with a guy who bought me grocery store Chinese food. Guess which one I married? (Hint: it wasn’t the fancy one)
For those curious, in order for the student loan one to be true, her interest rate must be in the neighborhood of 15%. That seems really high, but idk
Enjoyed that , thanks
Something makes me wonder if 300M people all agreed at once to stop paying taxes to the feds.
If I can bite my life and when on the fact that 1 day the entire population working population of the United States of America what shot at 1 voice not to pay any taxes. The I hope would force the IRS to piss off. Because they were never voted upon by Congress. To begin with
They are not a legal entity in the united states of america
We regularly do date night at Sam’s. Married 20 years and in our “honeymoon” stage.
My husband and I are big fans of the dinner date at cosco ❤😂🎉
lump sum every month and away your loan goes away
I will start searching these out and sending them to you
Let's send him this video he might have missed his video he made
I never thought about sending George videos ... great idea
Inexpensive date night. Walk in the park. Bring a thermos of coffee or hot chocolate to enjoy Done
My Husband & I call that Date Night.
Dinner = $3
Need to send George a vid on that budget 1-ply tp lol…. As for student loans the government has that forgiveness coming
Cheap date nights:
My hubs and I were very low income for a long time but staid out of debt. On chilly nights, we’d make hot cocoa or tea and drive to Tempe Towne Lake to go for walks together.
We also enjoy watching newsbloopers on TH-cam lol
My cheapest date is when my wife says, "I've got this one," and pays from our joint account. Free, or full price? You decide.
Well, that only applause, if you from your own work from your paychecks have never put a single penny into that account.
Otherwise guess what you're paying for it also.. Not rocket science
available balance doesn't mean anything. i tend to keep less than $300 in my checking while CDs and MM are far more
Cheapest date (and first date) was a trail hike at a nature preserve. Cost $0.
My husband and I are celebrating 10 years together this year.
5:54 use this for your project
The proctologist doing back breaking work is WILD 😂😂
The student loan lady is the baby version of me
Student loans can’t grow on the new SAVE plan, because any interest above your minimum payment is waived.
So that chick paid 120k over 10 years? That's 1k a month what kinda interest does she have??
He mentioned a 7% interest rate. That interest rate on an $80,000 loan would be $533 per month in interest. If she was doing an income based repayment plan, she may have a lower minimum payment which sounds nice but generally doesn't even cover the interest so the balance will continue to grow
@@cassandrajosettehall So nowhere near 120k then.
Any one who did simple interest in 5th grade should know that if you are only putting down money towards the interest and not the principal, it would be very hard to pay off the loan:
Interest only loans are very predatory and prey on the mathematically illiterate: I can't believe a country like the US allows it.

Also why it isn't necessarily representative: most people beyond 2nd grade financial education don't keep a lot of cash in a checking account.
Most people doing well have their rent or mortgage payment in checking to prevent an overdraft fee
Rich people rarely use ATMs anyway.
