We’ll probably see Amelia and Kai again but the relationship likely won’t last long. Just from watching the pattern that Shondaland creates in their series shows, the point and focus is on creating conflict in order to keep the audience emotionally engaged. (It is difficult to maintain emotion if the couples don’t split up.) And It is further inconceivable since there is already a ‘steady’ couple of sorts (Drs Weber and Avery) that denotes ‘relational stability’. I would love to see a couple from the LGBTQIA community move beyond the perceived dysfunction that tv promotes. Maybe someday but considering the popularity of Shondashows, I wouldn’t count on it any time soon.
