I’m a teacher, so knives , and pretty much other weapon are off limits in schools. Now, I don’t think I’ll be using my tactical pen to “Jason Bourne” an assailant. But the model I bought is very “under the radar”. Nobody would think twice about a teacher walking down the hall with a pen and some papers. I think that anything that gives me the slight edge is with it.
I have the Kepeak one, though it's old as dirt now. lol I recently got an Atomic Bear pen. Loving that thing. Not as hefty, has a cap over the glass breaker, and just feels better in the hand.
I carried a mini mag light for years. Later I switched over to the SW tactical pen with light. I promise you, you’re going to need that light way before you need to strike an attacker. It’s way too long a tale to tell, but years ago it came in handy when the power went out in a major hotel in Chicago and the lights went out. Great story.
I have been carrying EDC tactical pens for years. Shaffer had a pink pen and I have carried that on international flights. I have black ones but when flying or anytime I am worried about scrutiny , I choose a non threatening color. I also carry a small 1,000 lumen light. These are with me 100% of the time. 99% of the time a knife with a warncliff blade.
I carry the kepeak pen daily. Nice writing pen. Plus like the fact of having glass breaker. Driving truck you see alot of accidents on the road. Never know when you may have to break a window to get someone out of vehicle and to safety
I own the one with the carbide glass breaker tip on it. But they are HEAVY. Especially for a shirt pocket. I keep mine in my back pocket. Great weapon. I also have 3 knives on me at all times
They are heavy ! Especially the high quality ones. I carry one of these and I wear a neck knives, hip knives, kabar last ditch on my shoe and sometimes a fixed blade depending on what I'm doing.
My sibling gave me a never used camping kit that included a tactical pen. It's great to know how effective and convenient the tool is. Thanks! Will be carrying it around everywhere.
I have an Olight Open. I keep it at work because I work the nightshift. I will be purchasing the Kepeak and keeping it on my person. Thanks for the great info.
My sibling-in-law gave me a Kepeak from a kit he had bought, and I’ve carried it ever since. I haven’t had to use it (hopefully I never will), but it’s been a nice reassurance.
I carry a tactical pen by Schrade. It is sturdy and fits my hands well. One of the reasons to get it was that it survives pocket carry and does not need special care. It has a common high volume refill that last for a long time. Flimsy pens breaking in the pocket and maybe spilling some ink in the process were a real nuisance. My pens sees extensive use for writing. So far I did not have to deploy it as weapon. I still did some experiments to at least have a feeling for it and some aim. Live sparring may not be adviced. IIRC John Wick would not have killed more people in that bar if he had had a tactical pen. He killed three assailants and ran out of attackers.
I love mine. The best aspects are first that I can carry it when traveling, including on planes, and second that it's effective yet not as serious or as likely to be turned against me. I got the one sold by Jason Hanson. I like that it has a flat thumb end. You want you thumb over the top to help prevent slipping. And the pointy end is a cap, so that it can be a sharper piercing tool than a clicky pen.
I also normally EDC the Gerber Paraframe II. It's very easy to open one handed, to keep clean, and it's light. When I'm near a potentially aggressive human, the pen is concealed in my hand. If it's a potentially aggressive non-human animal, it's the knife.
When in school I used to make tac-pens myself from micarta. Simple cylinder pen refill cap made of brass screwes into the micarta body, the cylinder is cut at 45° which makes an elliptic shape with the edge that can be maintained as sharp as needed. I never used it against any live object but as an emergency striker, cutter, pry tool, screwdriver it was excellent and indispensible. Oh, and with mirror-polished gold-colored elliptic mirror it looked as a very fancy and expensive writing instrument, not as a weapon. One served me for over 10 years until I lost it and made a few for friends as presents. I had versions with micarta cap as well, worked fine everywhere except as a screwdriver and it did not look as good as brass.
carry a cold steel pocket shark, but sometimes also a metalic bottle opener with a karambit style handel, it has a perfect grip and can be used as a blunt striking tool, very nice, also have a metal pen with a glass breaker attached to some paracord box knot on my backpack if the situation for breaking glass was needed.

I ve carried an uzi pen without the DNA cathcher for years. I removed the catcher so I can also put my thumb on the top of the pen for even more force. If you know where to position either end of the pen so that the other person’s strike will connect with it or to strike with either end after telling the person to stay back of course, or to use it on pressure points or to strike and position the person for a fight ending hold, using locks, or to cause sprains or joint dislocations or even breaks if necessary, it is a really big help.. However the pen only assists not replaces fighting skills. I also carry an old Mimi mag lite as an a second hook, jab, and striking defensive tool. Sometimes a little more blunt trauma is required. One is none two is one. Of course loudly saying stay back with your hands palms to block will show both witnesses or security cameras that you were not the aggressor for later in Court should you survive. Whether or not the defensive tool is defined as a weapon by statute it would be well to not strike the head or neck area with it. Unless the attacker has a weapon. However pressure points on those areas are fair game and effective to break contact. I will wait before using a tool or weapon in a confrontation in public during the daytime. But it will be quickly accessible. Saying stay beck and supporting that with a forceful front or side kick if they don’t, should give you time leave or follow up with more strikes if they have a non projectile lethal weapon. People with a sprained ankle can’t run after you very well. I like the video and the SW pen is nice. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks.

Combat ready has a very nice tactical pen I've had it for a few years now it looks a lot like the kepeak you have there I'm pretty sure i only paid around 8 bucks or so for it 😊
I like them both but the one with the glass breaker looks more weapon like and has no place to rest thumb for reinforcement in the grip. Another EDC flashlight is great but a glass breaker is a useful thing to have. Crap, just give me both! Did have a pink metallic one I lost( I like the color pink) black is a better color that's not noticeable but pink makes it look like, well you never see most weapons in the color pink accept maybe a pistol marketed for women. Great video 😊❤ . I guess that's why I carry a lot of everything. I'm the poor man's Batman.
I love your channel bro! Good, relevant information. I agree with you on EDCing a "tactical" pen! They are very effective in my experience. I've used one to defend and to escape a vehicle. Dual purpose EDC items are worth investing in and carrying. I don't recommend your choice in pens cuz I have carried and lost both due to the weak pocket clip. As with anything you get what you pay for.... I'm digging my Halfbreed Hardcore Hardware Australia TWI01 pen. Got a stout deep carry clip, it's worth the extra money to me. I could get 5 of the pens you recommend and end up losing them..... If the budget pens work for you that's awesome! For me the pocket clip design is one of the most important parts of a kubaton Pen hybrid, AKA the Tactical Pen! Please pick up a pen from the land down under! I betcha you will find a new favorite tactical pen! I couldn't agree more that a flashlight is one of the best tools one can carry. Essentially the pen and flashlight are kubatons that have multiple uses. I recommend one carry both if possible. Tactical flashlights are worth their weight in gold in my experience! My Streamlight Protac was well worth the investment. The "flash and Bash" technique is very effective from experience! Either way we are discussing kubatons. I carry the Schrade Recon model. I think it would be good if someone got behind and put hands one me. That or the 4" blade I have at my right hand. I keep my head on a swivel. 411 outdoors, do you think most guys carry a blade. Makes me think my blade or pistol might be the thing to pull if attacked. I am 66 and not as quick as some young trouble makers.
Carbide strikers on a knife or pen really only hurt something with structure like glass. Not going to hurt your skull. Not going to do much on cars going forward. I think as of 2020 all side windows by law became like windshields and are tempered glass that needs to be peeled out.
If anything all vehicles should have something on doors or something reachable to break out and or cut seatbelt’s, hanging upside down would be very difficult to get out if hurting. Good to have our eyes opened again and protect ourselves and others when needed like having a full tool box to help the ones that do not have. The knife hanging down around the neck is allowed here ❤so my girlfriend is going to buy me one today bless her heart ❤️ 😂 second day after birthday I’m still going to get a gift being yet it’s around my neck reminding me she’s on my right shoulder watching 😂 had one in my hands yesterday I couldn’t sleep thinking about that little Bowie tac lol. Never too old to protect ❤ Thank you
I'm just now seeing this video. I paused it, went to Amazon and ordered 3. The other day I ordered the tactical baton. Your channel is starting to cost me😂😂
Ok, let's tell it like it is, as we used to say back in the day. That so called " glass breaker " is really a bone crusher in sheep's clothing. Great video!
I think Tactical pens are kool , nothing wrong with spending $7 for a pen that looks like it could be ran over by a tank , I hate it when my pens may have been in my pack for a year and I take it out and it’s broke
I carry a tactical pen every day and I only use it to write down things in my notebook that I carry every day too, it is a small notebook, now if I had to use it for self defense I would only use it in case of being attacked by a dog from the street or if several guys will try to hit me together with sticks or glass bottles, I'm sure that if you get hit in the eye with a tactical pen or stuck in your ear it will not be a pleasant experience.
Hey bro, tell the SFB's at TSA or HLS that the glass breaker is a stylus for your smart phones writing screen feature. A glass breaker, why of course not, I'm non violent...Baaaah.
If they were to ask you what it was, your simple answer is it’s my pen. I would definitely leave the work tactical out of it. I couldn’t see this being confiscated.
A tactical pen is an object you can carry with you every day pretty easily, and it gives you the ability to strike with something that creates a great deal of pain such as the glass breaker at the top.
In France, it is illegal to carry a knife. And that's ANY knife, even the tiniest one, even if it has no locking blade. If found, Police would confiscate the knife, and give you a €500 fine or take you to court. Claiming you carry a knife for self defence would aggravate your case. So, yes, tactical pen is the best option in France.
I just buy a piece of appropriately sized copper tubing at Lowe's and fit the guts of a disposable Bic into it. I you want a glass breaker on it bore an appropriately sized hole in the end cap and glue a quarter inch long piece of a carbide drill bit into it. Tactical pens are useful but overpriced for what's involved in them. A copper tube and a Bic is less than $2 if you already have the drill bit and glue. You could also use a small chunk of porcelain from a sparkplug glued at the end too.
I'm no expert, but of the pens in the video look like weapons to me. Oh yeah, they can be used to write, but those sharp points are probably a deal breaker with the authorities. There are scads of pens and/or flashlights that are a whole lot less intimidating than your examples. Good video, tho.
I just got one of these and let me say. If you know how to use it, it can be a serious weapon . And a very good life saving device. For smashing out windows. Oh, and you can leave a love note to your wife, lol.
Be careful carrying a tactical pen to court. When going through a metal detector, if you have a tactical pen and an officer ask you what kind of pen is that? If you respond to that it is a 'tactical' pen they will charge you for bringing a weapon to court.
I have a tacpen for just in case when alll stuff is forbidden....In Greece for example all kind of stuff for self-defence is a banned...You don't have a right to carry multi tool , or victorinox ...When you carry a knife in your luggage you must to proof that you are camper or fisherman 😂
I think there overpriced, a sparkplug for breaking glass, other than that a snooker ball in a sock, or the Millwall brick pennies or quarters in a rolled up newspaper, then pee on it or wet it to mold it
It's a glass breaker, it's also a head breaker. I love it!!!
🤣👊
As a LEO, I recommend people carry a tactical pen. Better than nothing and could save your life. I carry one both on and off duty.
I’m a teacher, so knives , and pretty much other weapon are off limits in schools. Now, I don’t think I’ll be using my tactical pen to “Jason Bourne” an assailant. "This is a glassbreaker, it is also a head breaker" that was good brotherb
Post 9-11 I picked up an aircraft aluminum SW tactical pen. It’s been on every flight I take since then. It’s deadly and takes good notes.
3:36 was the only valid reason I needed. Sold! I'm buying a pen 🖊️
I have the Kepeak one, though it's old as dirt now. lol I recently got an Atomic Bear pen. Loving that thing. Not as hefty, has a cap over the glass breaker, and just feels better in the hand.

I have that Kepeak, it looks like mine. If you unscrew the glass breaker there is a handcuff key attached to it. Pretty sweet for $20.
I EDC a tactical pen for 5 years. My recent favorite it’s the Stealth Pen Pro from Atomic Bear! So effective ❤
I carry the kepeak pen daily. Nice writing pen. Plus like the fact of having glass breaker. Driving truck you see alot of accidents on the road. Never know when you may have to break a window to get someone out of vehicle and to safety

I have a few of those. I like the DNA Collector on the glass breaker end.@Mike4360
You stated the exact reasons I wanna get a tactical pen. Excellent
"Up side your head" 👍
My sibling gave me a never used camping kit that included a tactical pen. It's great to know how effective and convenient the tool is. Thanks! Will be carrying it around everywhere.
I have an Olight Open. I keep it at work because I work the nightshift. I will be purchasing the Kepeak and keeping it on my person. Thanks for the great info.
Very welcome!
I work the night shift as well, I carry a Shockwave for my flashlight. Now I'm very interested in the pen.
My sibling-in-law gave me a Kepeak from a kit he had bought, and I’ve carried it ever since. I haven’t had to use it (hopefully I never will), but it’s been a nice reassurance.

I like Atomic Bear. SWAT for work in EMS, Rebel for EDC.
I carry a Hinderer Extreme Duty. Very pleased with it. It is always in my pocket and under the radar, but it mean business. Very robust and heavy duty
I have one. Made from aircraft aluminum with the glass breaker point and the flat top for resting your thumb on. I carry it everywhere.
Love your videos man. Thank you 😊👍

Simple cylinder pen refill cap made of brass screwes into the micarta body, the cylinder is cut at 45° which makes an elliptic shape with the edge that can be maintained as sharp as needed. I carry the James Williams pen he designed for crkt. I got the grivory version very light and sharp.

Exactly haha!
Could you carry this pen in a carry-on for a flight? Meaning would TSA take it?
If they were to ask you what it was, your simple answer is it’s my pen. I would definitely leave the work tactical out of it. I couldn’t see this being confiscated.
Tactical pens are allowed in check in luggage only, not carry on. If the TSA agent perceives it to be a tactical pen, they will confiscate it.
I carry the Key Peak every day.
Awesome! Me too most
Great advice. John Wick can easily take a whole army with that!
He sure could haha! Thanks my friend
@@411Outdoors you're most welcome...but seriously, I always have one with me, better safe than sorry. Great channel 👍👍👍
I think a tactical flashlight is the way to go.
I don’t think they would allow someone to take a tactical pen on a plane, not to mention let you keep it if you go through a metal detector
Do you think the flashlight one would be ok? Other than being pretty sturdy, it doesn’t have a piercing edge
I have flown with one a few times. It depends entirely on how it looks
@@davidkilby1043 thanks for sharing!
I bought one recently for my own protection after i Was almost mugged by 2 black guys in South London
I always lose my pens so I knife is better for me. Cool video brother!
Thanks bro!
@@411Outdoors you're welcome
I live in a pretty violent neighbourhood, how would this protect me
A tactical pen is an object you can carry with you every day pretty easily, and it gives you the ability to strike with something that creates a great deal of pain such as the glass breaker at the top.
A gun cannot help you if you don't know how to use it.
It will be confiscated if trying to get it through airline security.Don’t place in carry-on bag.
I carry a regular metal cased pen because I'm to cheap to buy a tactical pen 😂 but it works.
Any metal-cased pen could function as a tactical pen. A Cross pen and pencil set could do serious damage as an impact weapon set. 😊
Whenever I travel to Spain I carry a tactical pen
I'm no expert, but of the pens in the video look like weapons to me. Oh yeah, they can be used to write, but those sharp points are probably a deal breaker with the authorities. There are scads of pens and/or flashlights that are a whole lot less intimidating than your examples. Good video, tho.
Good for anyone who has no training 😮.....
The nice thing about a tactical pen is if someone reaches into your vehicle, you can stab them and write an apology note for disabling them!
😂😂😂😂
You might have to write down a license plate number or other information and leave a note so carry a pen.
I just got one of these and let me say. If you know how to use it, it can be a serious weapon .
And a very good life saving device.
For smashing out windows.
Oh, and you can leave a love note to your wife, lol.
Haha! 💯💯
Be careful carrying a tactical pen to court. When going through a metal detector, if you have a tactical pen and an officer ask you what kind of pen is that? If you respond to that it is a 'tactical' pen they will charge you for bringing a weapon to court.
Yep 👍👍 very true and very good comment
I have a tacpen for just in case when alll stuff is forbidden....In Greece for example all kind of stuff for self-defence is a banned...You don't have a right to carry multi tool , or victorinox ...When you carry a knife in your luggage you must to proof that you are camper or fisherman 😂
💯💯💯👍
Is there a Tactical pen that doesn't LOOK tactical?
That would definitely be helpful in countries where they’re not allowed. I would just say something with strong metal
I think there overpriced, a sparkplug for breaking glass, other than that a snooker ball in a sock, or the Millwall brick pennies or quarters in a rolled up newspaper, then pee on it or wet it to mold it
The most important thing we need to carry with us is our brain. What kind of imaginary world do you exist in?
I don’t know mine seems pretty real. Brainiacs get hurt everyday
Get a gun. It works much better than a tactical ink pen..😮😊
Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. But these things are cool in a pinch.
Jerm - I think you missed the "point" entirely.
A knife is a lethal weapon,a pen isn’t.
Tactical pen, knife and 9mm.
What do you mean with the 5 or six refills for the tactical pen ? You mean the inkt ? Greetings.
Yes 🙂👍
Thankyou
