I've been keeping a journal just for my sock knitting since 2003 and I’m on my 3rd notebook with 255 pair of socks. I just use plain small notebooks, no pictures but yarn samples, start & finish date & who I got the socks.
I smiled the entire time looking at your journal...how wonderful!.....I have one as well, and enjoy it so much....Dear sweet Dexter..what a good boy he is mum.....your socks with the stitch markers made my toes curl!..thank you for taking us along with you...merry Vlogmas
I am making 9 gift knits this year. 4 were mailed on Monday. I have started two more and one is DK socks. I can knit them in about 3 days so I will probably finish over the weekend. The two pair of mitts will also take about 3 days each. Two pairs of shorty socks will take more time but I am sure I will get those done. Then back to knitting for me. I use a Sprocket to print my pages and just ordered a 100 pack of paper. It is the perfect size for my journal. I keep a separate notebook of all the patterns I use for the year. Several I love so much I knit them again and again.
Knitting while walking on the treadmill?? I'm pretty sure you have super powers. I can barely read a book while walking on the treadmill without falling off 😂
Your journal is amazing. How fun to have all that information without relying on memory. You are definitely a prolific knitter. Knitting on the treadmill! I often feel like I don't get enough excersize because I love to sit and knit, especially in the winter. Kay, you inspire me . Love all your projects. See you tomorrow.
Oh my goodness, I can see all kinds of bad things happening if I ever tried to knit on a treadmill..to me AND what I was knitting....yikes! Your journal is amazing! I used to do something like that on a much smaller scale. Now I just use Ravelry for my projects, photos and notes. HOWEVER-I will admit that having a journal close by would be a lot easier to find notes on what I did on a project when I knit it again. I'm frankly surprised at myself because I do pretty much everything else without a computer-meaning a paper and pencil. I should think about starting a journal for my knitting again. By the way-you have such pretty handwriting! That Dexter just melts my heart. He has such a sweet face and what a personality! I love when they sit and respond when you talk to them. That tilt of the head gets me every time. It looks like he's doing a lot better-that's awesome. All of your dogs are sweet-seeing Chloe makes me think of our shepherd-lab mix we had years back. You've got a lot of pretty projects on needles that's for sure. I admire how nice and tight your yarn over holes are. I'll have to look up that cowl-I do love knitting them. So fun that you have a weekly knitting group too-how I wish there was something like that around here.
When you pulled out your journal it made me so happy I love how loved and worn it is. Definitely want to do this for 2022. I use my notes on my phone to keep track of my wips but I love the sentiment of a physical journal ❤️
You Go Girl!! Knitting while walking on the tread mill😳 Amazing👏🏾 One day I'll be able to do that too 😁. Love your videos and also your tutorials on "Vanilla Socks" which I am determined to complete. I'm a fairly new knitter and improving. Patience and determination is the key with me😉 Thank you for sharing. Happy Holidays and much love to you and your family🎄🎅💜🙏🏾
I keep a yarn journal too....no dish cloths for Christmas here. Not that I didn't make any, but my daughters and granddaughters snapped them up before i could put them in the box! Made a few fall colors for friends. My box is empty.
What a great way to look back at all you made for the year. Ravelry is great but I like having something tangible. Guess I’ll be looking for a notebook for 2022 making journal.
I do the same sort of journaling for my crafts. I stated downloading to the computer and just print on regular copy paper. The picture is not bad and the paper is thinner so my journal is not as bulky.
I've never been able to keep up with a regular journal. I've tried many times. May be keeping a projects journal might be easier. 🤷. I'm going to start making socks soon. I'm planning on starting with your vanilla sock pattern. Too many things I want to make. You're amazing walking and knitting at the same time!!
I was inspired by you to begin a making journal this year. I find that when I am knitting an item for someone I think about that person so I write some of those thoughts in my journal.
I too have decided to make the Habitation Throw with my 20 gram mins from my Sherry Iris 24-Day Advent. I wanted a bigger blanket and also wanted to use up all the yarn.
As you spoke about the sprocket I thought oh free prints and went to check and sort mine and then you talked about it so funny!!! Great minds lol! Love the vlogs and the journal !! ❤️
I tried to keep a making journal last year, and failed miserably. I need to try again next year, because it would be great to look back and see everything I've made. Hope you had a great knit night. Happy Friday!
Honored to be the first entry in your making journal! You've inspired me to knit on my tread and cast on a pair of DK socks. Although, if I fall, you'll hear about it! ;) xx
Could you show a group shot of some of your advents? Like what you’ve gotten so far from one company? And/or, how are you storing them after you’ve opened them?
I’m just storing them on project bags. I don’t have plans to do photos of all of them because I am putting them back in the packaging they come in, so that I know what day is what for when I knit them up. 💕
I did my Habitation throw last Christmas with 20 gram Advent Minis too. It is a bit bigger but still a throw. And you use almost all but a bit of the last mini.
I really love your hair. My hair use to be down to my waist. I cut it about 10 years ago. It is really thick. It was too hot in the summer time. With it being short it is curly. I never wrote down all the things I have made. I have been taking pictures of what I have made with my phone.
Thanks ,Kay!!! Sweet Dexter!!!love seeing him,,,, Love UR ideas for UR knitting journal!! Typed in UR cowl,,,at least 3 different ways,,,wollop cowl,,,,and didn't find it on RAVELRY? Elaine🏡🏡🏡🏡
If that free print app doesn't have the size you want (small enough, etc) you could make a layout grid and print say 4 photos on one of their standard size prints and then cut them apart. Just a thought as I am watching :)
I just came to give the same recommendation! That is what I do with my scrap books for my daughter's photos, make a collage picture and then print on the free prints app! Works well but it's just an extra step x

That's a lot of pairs of socks!
WOW!! That’s amazing! 14+ pairs a year! That’s really good!
@@Melmaz32 they are all adult vanilla socks. I always carry a sock with me & leave one in the car!
I LOVE watching the socks grow 😍 Thank you for sharing your love of knitting 🤗

Love the sock color you're working on..gorgeous. I may start a journal..love the idea.

As you make dishcloths/Christmas presents/something for a specific person, you could use a specific tape for those projects in your making journal.
I keep a yarn journal too....no dish cloths for Christmas here. Not that I didn't make any, but my daughters and granddaughters snapped them up before i could put them in the box! Made a few fall colors for friends. My box is empty.
Chunky journals are so satisfying!
Nice idea for the journal. I never keep count but I think January I will start one. Nice to look back on. You gave me inspiration for the. We year. 👍
Your journal is so cool! I’ve put two images next to each other and then cut the 4x6 in half to get the smaller size image.

Love your work on the dk socks . I've just started a scrappy pair using your dk vanilla pattern and my leftover advent dk. Such fun.
I love the idea of a knitting journal. I just don’t think I’d keep up with it lol. But maybe I should try anyway
I too have decided to make the Habitation Throw with my 20 gram mins from my Sherry Iris 24-Day Advent. I wanted a bigger blanket and also wanted to use up all the yarn.
I love your "Making" journal. That is a smart idea to do with the bits of yarn and labels. I enjoy knitting so much. Thank you for sharing.
As you spoke about the sprocket I thought oh free prints and went to check and sort mine and then you talked about it so funny!!! Great minds lol! Love the vlogs and the journal !! ❤️
I love your journal. Your shop is adorable. THANK YOU for your vlogmas.

I love the knitting journal idea

Ohhhh let me know how it goes!!!
I'm glad Dexter is getting more used to the inflatable collar. It's so nice to see you all settled on the sofa at the end of the day!!
Your progress keepers are so fun to look at. You’ve inspired me to use mine more! 🥰
Such a great idea to keep a journal!
The yarn snip in the making journal is so cute!!!
I started a making journal 🤣 You have inspired me to start again in 2022 and hopefully keep it up.
Loved this one! I’ve been considering starting a making journal and wasn’t sure where/how to start, so thank you for some good ideas. Hi Dexter! 😀
I do love your Christmas stockings!
Hello from Mounds Illinois. I have the Cannon Ivy printer and I love it. I get my supplies from Amazon.
Loving your Journal, such a good idea thinking I might do one next year. Love the socks :)
I did my Habitation throw last Christmas with 20 gram Advent Minis too. It is a bit bigger but still a throw. And you use almost all but a bit of the last mini.
Awesome!!! 🎉
May I ask where you got the ring on your middle finger? It’s really awesome, and I want one 😉
I’m actually frantically knitting gift dish cloths as I watch this! 🧶 Starting in January next year for sure. 😉
Good luck!!!! Next year we can do it.. get ahead of it! ☺️

What's the song called that's playing in the beginning while you're on the treadmill??
Kudos for the project journaling. I would have a hard time keeping up with that but I can see it brings you satisfaction 💕.
I made the Habitation Throw during December last year. It’s a lovely pattern!
I used 20 gram skeins for my Habitation Throw last year. You'll love the larger size!
Yay! I’m happy to hear that!!
This FO journal is a great idea. I'll copy u for ny projects 2022. My kid has instax camera so I'll use that one.
Perfect!
Thanks ,Kay!!!

Enjoying your vlog masses so much xxx
Love the DK socks. Did you use just 1 skein for each pair? I couldn’t find either color. 😊❤️
Yep
Love your making journal.
What yarn/needles do you use for the dishcloths you referenced?
I have a Ravelry project page with info 💕
Kay what pattern are you using for your Habitation blanket?
The habitation throw pattern. All details can always be found on my Ravelry project pages 💕

Kay, which type of cast on did you use for that last sock that you showed towards the very end of the vlog?(around 17 min)
