$20 Campground near VIRGINIA CREEPER TRAIL | Sugar Hollow Park Review: Camping in Virginia

- If you are looking for RV sites or camping near the Virginia Creeper Trail Sugar Hollow Park is a great choice! Sugar Hollow Park is a campground in Bristol, Virginia. The Creeper Trail is a mostly downhill bike trail that takes you through beautiful towns like Abingdon and Damascus. The RV parks directly along the trail were full when we tried to book and we found Sugar Hollow Park on Campendium. Quiet, not crowded, conveniently located but with a beautiful state park feel. For only $20 a night (CASH ONLY) we definitely recommend Sugar Hollow! It was only 15 minutes from the bike shop in Abingdon where you could rent bikes or book a ride on the shuttle if you have your own bike.

What is the typical price range you try to stick to for campgrounds? Do you prefer to stick to the under $30 state park like views or do you like to splurge for the resort park lifestyle? We love a mix of both! Especially when the resort parks have state park like rates!!
Oh wow $20 is a steal! And the Creeper Trail looks gorgeous!

It truly is! We can't wait to go back!
We like both. For quick overnights give me cheap as possible! For a weekend with a camping feel I like state parks. Where we stay monthly or longer we like the RV resorts.
Same! Quick overnights I love Cracker Barrel! Or a national forest/dispersed lands if we are close enough. But a month of longer the resorts are great, especially when the park wifi actually works!!

It was a great spot! Hidden gem and I almost felt guilty sharing in case it starts to get crowded.

You will love it! It was a great, quiet park with hiking and disc golf. The VA creeper trail is such a fun day adventure if you have never done it!

You definitely should! It would make a fun weekend away. there were some cute little bed and breakfasts. Or the Martha Washington hotel in Abingdon looks so dreamy, but I am guessing it might be quite the splurge lol
