I’m going to read through the book this week because if the rest is like the first chapter you certainly have a winner. When I was deployed in Bosnia (was in Canadian Forces) I was in the artillery and boy hittin spot on target was such a good feeling. Enemy getting blasted by 205mm cannons was just crazy man.
Yaknow bro, there are some Sniper/ DDM positions open with a few Contractors if you want to go back and get a little taste again. The money's decent for that kind of position still.

Can’t imagine how this operation sounded to anyone within 20 miles. It’s 100% NOT a fair fight and it shouldn’t be, exploit EVERY advantage you have in war fighting to succeed, shock and awe and terrify the enemy. We didn’t see much incomming because noones stupid enough to poke their head up with multiple mini guns, .50’s , 240’s and carbine fire comming in middle of the night. Distant anti aircraft fire is primarily what we see from the enemy way off in the distance, doubt they see the Specter so likely just shooting in response to this massive amount of fire not knowing where it’s comming from. We do own the night. We don't need NVG's, they help and they're great. But, US forces have known how to operate at night since Vietnam where night vision was limited. Our adversaries could never come close to our abilities in the dark. Night LandNav is a prime example. That's one of the things that really torqs me in movies when you see a guy use a flashlight... I immediately think this story was written by amateurs. I am much more comfortable with the dark because I realize I can see them and they can't really see me. Good vid Rob. Btw, good book too.

Was on an escort mission and we got ambushed there in Sadr City about a week after they killed the contractors and desiccated them on the bridge....we got hit pretty hard and got to have a nice 3hr firefight. I was the lead .50 gunner and seeing this got me all kinds of excited😁
