I thought so too. The range seemed really limited today doing speed runs but I did not have fresh AA batteries in the transmitter and the antenna was laying down on the receiver so I will try again!
This has been a great car for you . I do like hbx products . Been ripping a 16980sa and ordered the cf rlaarlo mini terminator on a whim . I didn’t know what else to get and wanted a larger RC . I almost got this and maybe I will later .
Overall I think they make great products for their price as they are durable and perform well. I find the 16890A feels more like a toy than the 2997A and is harder to drive fast.... but neither of them have very accurate handling at speed. That being said, they are a blast! For $150 and $165 for the 2997A I feel it is a great deal but I think $200 is too much (usually it sells for $165 but sometimes $150.

I like your Aquariums, I fabricated my own tanks, a 500 Gallon Parrot fish tank, a 750 gallon Salt Water Live rock tank, and a 250 gallon freshwater aquatic plant tank with about 100 schooling fish.

I have a buddy that has run the Meilan Mini and his high end GPS and they get almost identical speed every time unless he accelerates and then hits the brakes and the Meilan doesn't record the top speed where the higher unit does. The Meilan mini is very durable. I would recommend putting some packing tape (I use 3 layers) of the screen so that when you crash and it goes flying, the screen doesn't get damaged. You can just put new tape on as needed. I have only have it not work well a hand full of times with the hundreds of runs I have done. Now and then it will struggle to pick up satellites or it will not have enough and give some wonky readings when you walk with it before doing a run to make sure it is reading properly.

@@DedicationRC Excellent! I would love to hear what kind of speeds you get out of it! With a prewarmed LIPO, I was able to hit 30 mph stock (other reviews I saw were slower than that as they ran cold LIPOs). With the GPS, I like to run it with the distance showing so you can see how long you went for each speed run (Not as important when it is stock but if you get into speed runs it is a really useful tool). The little bottom on the back is my favorite way to clear out the speeds between runs. Good luck!
The A signifies brushless. It has a couple of upgrades as I understand it over The 2996A. It has a stand alone receiver, a bigger battery (1800 vs 1600 mah), a 45a ESC (vs 35) throttle trim, and I feel like I’m forgetting something. There may be other differences I’m not aware of. You cannot turn down the speed of the truck now as it has throttle trim in place of this function.
It still shows a $50 coupon for me - I just checked. Odd The price is listed as $200 but you have to select the coupon… assuming it is there on your end.

This looks like a great truck. Hbx doesn’t make a bad RC but they seem to be getting better and better. You’ll dig the urgenex batteries.
They worked well today. I don’t have any other LIPOs that fit but at some point I am going to shove another one in there to do a comparison!
