Do you have any advice for starting up a lawn business in the Pittsburgh area?

      Hi Jeff,
I'm not going to lie to you, it can be frustrating just starting off. Starting off slow and paying particular attention to detail on each job can help with folks recommending you to others. It can be discouraging that you business isn't growing as fast as you expected or it can be highly overwhelming qthat it is growing faster than you can keep up with. Slow and steady usually wins the race. As far as equipment goes, you don't need the best stuff to start out with and most importantly........if you don't need something, don't buy it until you do. Hope you succeed at your business.. God bless

@@NorthBoroughsLawnCareLLC thanks man! I started when I was 12 iam now 27 I been using residential mowers and equipment. I don’t have much knowledge when it comes to pricing and I don’t really know how to make it legal. I have been getting advice from dlt lawn care and sef the lawn surgeon they helped me out a bunch but still even watching others do it you gain some knowledge but not the knowledge you really need if you know what iam saying. Iam from Washington by the way.

@@jeffreylucas2027 Hey, if you've been doing this since you were 12 you should have a good grasp on a solid business then. I've been doing this full time since 2020, part time since 2015. As far as pricing goes, each property is different and it would depend on the terrain, obstacles, trimming, size and so on. I don't have one set price but I will say that I won't do any jobs now for under 50 bucks. Self worth and quality pretty much dictate that for me BUT when I first started off my bar was set at 25 bucks. Alot has chanced since then and in order to stay competitive that's where I'm at. A good way to look at things is to figure out what you need to make per hour to run your business. There is a formula to figure that out but it escapes me at the moment.

@@NorthBoroughsLawnCareLLC thanks for the help man I appreciate it and yeah I do have a grasp on most things it’s just fine tuning everything. For me iam around 35-40$ anything less I can’t do it and I won’t pull my mower out it’s just gaining knowledge of mulch and hedges and all that extra stuff that I have to work out. Thanks for the advice and the kind words
