"A good novel tells us the truth about its hero; but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author.” G. K. Chesterton
Lucas's 'Star Wars' was about Luke Skywalker. Leslye Headlands' 'Star Wars' is about Leslye Headland (and she's said as much).
Damn that’s beautiful. I love finding short punchy factual ways to tell a truth or help someone understand your view without mudding the message that you’d like them to consider.
Ufff! That is a great quote! And a great point!
Facts
Funny enough, I had that very experience not too long ago. There was a book I read about a group of clones that were meant to be the crew of this colony ship that was slowly crossing the galaxy, and it was presented as a mystery as to what had gone wrong. Not only was it not a mystery, because they figure out what happened the first time they sit down and speculate about it, but it also told me far more about the author than I cared to know. Case in point, there were two characters that were irredeemable trash that I could tell the author liked and thought were sympathetic, and there were two more that were sympathetic, who it was clear the author did not agree.
The wife and myself have been rewatching Stargate franchise just so we can relove Sci-fi again.
Jaffa, cree!
I loved 'Atlantis', but chose 'Gomorah' and 'Logan's Run'.to numb the pain.
It's even better to watch anything from the 60's to early 80's - just to get away from anything modern looking. Even just seeing something made with HD digital film, can arouse trauma and cause trembling, nausea etc.

You’d swear The Acolyte was made literally to punish Star Wars fans.
Not quite.
More likely, it was made to end the franchise.
It was made to make white men cry.

@TheMaskGamer2007 And, they have succeeded. Unfortunately, the price for this is the White Men have (largely) moved on - taken their money with them.

Love the Tremors quote.
I feel like such a nerd for knowing that was a Tremors quote.
I've never in my lifetime witnessed a company so purposefully destroy their fanbase like Disney has. They can not be doing this accidentally.
These done the same thing to superheroes.
You’d be surprised how self destructive and counter productive an unchecked ego can be.
Electronic Arts done it first to be fair. The only difference is Disney on it longer than EA and still going strong lol (to destroy everything that is).
no they are not. IT's social engineering paid by the good ppl of black rock who wants those kids
I hope 20 years from now we'll have more answers as to wtf is going on with Disney
Star Wars was made as a rebellion against Hollywood's studio system. George Lucas wanted to tell a story his way by innovating in modeling, special effects, visual effects, CGI in the prequels, and superb work in swordfighting. George Lucas did not want the studio executives injecting themselves in the film making and script writing process. He wanted to things his way and let his team figure out the creative process. That is what made the original trilogy so very special.
I believe Disney needs to sell Star Wars. Star Wars doesn’t work in a traditional studio system. The OG trilogy was avant garde filmmaking that was on the bleeding edge. Star Wars needs to return to its experimental roots.
Or if Disney keeps it, it must go to a separate experimental film studio with ZERO corporate interference whatsoever. George Lucas, Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, Bryce Dallas Howard, & Rick Famuyiwa should head that new studio.
But Kathleen Kennedy, Leslye Headland, and the entire staff of The Acolyte need to be permanently fired and banned from Star Wars. Especially that writers' room that wrote this abomination. The Acolyte should be considered non-canon and disregarded.
Bring Star Wars full circle back to its experimental and avant garde filmmaking roots. No studio decision-making, exploring the cutting edge in filmmaking, and pushing the technology to the limits. Let the writers take their time to produce compelling characters and storylines. That's what is needed to save Star Wars.
Disney doesn’t need to clean house… Disney needs to tear the house down to the studs, and start over. Iger, the board, Kennedy, D’Amaro (the parks chief)… their issues are baked into the fabric of the entire company. And it needs to go.
You must be kidding, "Disney needs to tear the house down"? DISNEY IS THE HOUSE. It needs fire, down to the foundations to bake the very salts out of the earth.
dayumn, she got those yams just squeeeeezed up in there
Booba Fett brings in the views. Kind of crazy how many nobodies are making a living off of saying that Disney are shit nowadays.
Return Of The Jedi was released in 1983, the year I was born. Star Wars has been in my life since I can remember. Luke and Vader raised me! I’m just a simple vato loco from the barrio who’s only escape from reality was Star Wars. HOW DID WE GET HERE, GUYS?? This genuinely breaks my heart…
I go back even further. I'm one of those people who saw A New Hope 4 times in a row when it came out. I fell in love with it. Bought the models, the books, the comics. What these people have done to this thing which I sank who knows how much money into makes me break out into a dark side rage which would make anything Vader does look like a Sunday school social.
Hold on to your physical media and your memories. "Star Wars" is only dead if you allow the woke lunatics take that away from you. How did we get here? Complacency and underestimating the determination of the woke, marxist lunatics trying to destroy Western Civilization. That is how.
I don't know my friend how we got here but I know how you feel. When Star Wars came out in 1977 me and my brother saw A New Hope 15 times in the theater. Those were some of the best days of my life being poor kids in the south.
@@m1a1hm That was the beauty of the experience we shared no matter where we were. That story and the ones which followed cut across the board no matter who we were. I had nerdy, and not so nerdy, friends of every kind who were totally enthralled. It brought us all together because, GASP, it told a story!! And we all bought into it!
As for whatever this thing is masquerading as our beloved franchise, they took the finest food and drink we were accustomed to, ground up rotting filth, sprinkled it with garnish, and tried to pass it off as the same thing, and when we refused to choke it down, they had a hissy.
I saw A New Hope 11 times when it first came out. It was magic. I’ve been tuned out for a while. I’d prefer they just bury Star Wars at this point. It’s so sad.
1:20 Oh, wow… this just makes it sound like Anna/Elsa was the villain in Frozen, when neither were evil. Yes, Elsa lost control of her power, but when Anna told her about the eternal winter, she got upset because she knew it was her fault. She even righted the wrong she unintentionally committed!

I mean, we really shouldn't expect Harvey Weinstein's former personal assistant to write and direct a good show.
Ngl, Russian Dolls was surprisingly good.
@SirDawkster: "write what you know" ---> she said !!! 😜
She's dialing up the female empowerment to make up for all the horror she was part of perhaps. Guilty conscience
"Personal assistant"...
She should have based it on Weinstein's life instead of her own. Then we might have at least got a good villain.
Throw out the JJ Abram's and The High Republic ideas and reset all the nonsense, basically start a new. Bring in good writers and fans to rebuild trust for all the OT fans. Good video bro
Yes. I don't understand why all this crap is being pushed on us as "lore". Why can't Star Wars just be retold in different ways just as Superman for example? Star Wars has "Legendary" status. This means you could write alternate sequels to the original trilogy or even remake the originals with different actors and alternate scenes.
(Not that I'd necessarily support that idea though) They planned to do this with an "Aliens" sequel, which would basically ignore Alien 3 and 4. - Why not?
How would they recognize good writers? There isn't one intellectually sound person in their whole corporate structure. Everything from the Cruise Line to ESPN is suffering a huge slump in quality. I'm not even sure they have enough remaining expertise to hire an external consulting firm to fix them.
Reminds me of Yahoo. One day they just sucked at everything they did. Their fix was to sell off their core business to become a financial services company, then they rebuilt their internet services business from square one. Disney would be wise to do the same.
News flash: Star Wars is long dead and Disney is p*ssing on its corpse
You say p*sing I say S*itting
It never was very good. Good riddance.

Disney finally buried the corpse 😅
Yeah I would say Disney killed Star Wars the day they removed the EU. I'm just happy people are starting to experience the loss of Star Wars that I've been enduring for the last 10 years... welcome to the club.
I still got the prequels and OG trilogy on 4K, that's all I need 😊
Same, as is the old expanded universe. KOTOR and the 2d clone wars are fantastic
I personally think KK hired LH just so they could regale in their old stories of getting coffee for their bosses and griping about them
Throw in an actress somehow worse than Zegler, and turn legitimate criticism as 'Review bombing'. Who cares about what ‘The View’ or ‘Mary Sue’ say? ‘The Acolyte’ wasn’t for them, although maybe it was.
LH didn't just get coffee for her boss, she also found young girls for him and her to m*lest.
It's LH though, she didn't just get coffee for her boss 😂😂

Thank you for the comment & props you made about original The Crow. They just don't make great movies like that anymore. Nice commentary Snarky! You worded this perfectly and showed 10 times the passion of anyone in Disney Star Wars. Couldn't have said it better.
If we want Star Wars to be saved. Disney must fire Kathleen Kennedy, Lesley, and anyone who is agreeing with their beliefs. Also, burning your boba fett clothing is way too relatable.
I like how you guys never mention Filoni when his wife is literally a "witch" and he approved of the acolyte, ahsoka etc.
Don’t forget Bob Iger in that list. It all starts at the top.
SELL IT BACK TO LUCAS. That's the only way to save it.
@@CaptDingDong hes too old and he doesnt have the money
They have to hire absolute top talent. If you had a living director with the skill of Kubrick, you'd challenge them to adhere to star wars style as a test of discipline and pay them a sickening amount of money. Disney got their paws on Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but can't appreciate that those were peak Lucas and Spielberg. As is, Disney's work is being picked apart on political grounds. But it's also being picked apart as incoherent. They bought STAR WARS. They have billions of dollars in future earnings riding on the success of the franchise and they hand 180 million to Leslie Headland. The most gentle criticism is they handed the biggest franchise in the world to someone who they regarded as promising. I'm not letting a promising student driver handle my porsche.
Yesterday I talk with my friend about this same topic. We’re planning to do our own video giving our thoughts as well. We love Star Wars too but now it has been so complicated to be a fan now a days, we all want to give our opinions good or bad to the story but can’t without getting called our or bullied pretty much. I appreciate your thoughts and opinions on this topic because it’s something that needs to long said. Keep up the good work. Let’s enjoy the times again were we all had fun talking about Star Wars and creating impactful stories.
RIP Star Wars
After watching the Acolyte, I'm starting to think that the colossal threat Darth Revan sensed in the Unknown Regions and tried to unite the galaxy against in KOTOR and KOTOR II was actually Disney...
At this point, Star Wars is beyond saving. As long as it's in the hands of these lunatics at Lucasfilm.
And George's caveat to the deal is that Kennedy cannot be fired. The only way she'd have to go is if 'Lucasfilm' was sold again, with the caveat that's she's fired on the spot.
Gurl, that dress was on fire the moment you tried it on.
I hope I’m not the 25th person to state this. Also, you’re right, they can’t tell us we’re wrong for our opinion. I’m technically a member of their identity umbrella and I can’t stand what they’re doing. People like you, Disparu, the Drinker, you’re all spot on.
This is a clear example of the concept of the "postmodern parasite," as explained by the Canadian theorist Jonathan Pageau. According to this theory, the postmodern parasite does not create anything new but instead replaces or destroy existing elements, using established characters and stories to convey ideological messages.
The plague of sequels/prequels?
"The Shadow that bred them can only mock, it cannot make: not real new things of its own. I don't think it gave life to the orcs, it only ruined them and twisted them"
Sounds similar to Tolkien's line in Return of the King
Exactly. A lot of people still thinking it is only "woke stuff", but it is a cultural war and they want to destroy the west values.
One of the most positive things about the decline of modern Star Wars is the creators that have benefited from it. I love to see people succeed on TH-cam and having voices like yours willing to be critical of truly subpar content is what will drive change. It's amazing to me to see the channels that are becoming powerful media outlets. At some point there has to be a tipping point and without your channel, Nerdrotic, Drinker, and many others it probably wouldn't change. Channels are making real money and Star Wars's spiral has been a watershed moment for so many. Keep being you. So happy to see your success.
More like RIP 1977-2012.😢
Actually, they had Phineas and ferb Starwars, and that was released in 2014, and it was good. So, it died in 2015 when the Sequels were made.
Well the Mandalorian season 2 was probably the last and best Disney project regarding Star Wars. It’s a bit more complicated than that. But I get what you’re saying.
I thought putting -2024 on the grave stone was quite generous as well lol
3 of the biggest Sci Fi franchises have died. Star Wars, Star Trek & Dr. Who. All garbage now.
Very True!
I definitely didn't picture snarky taking off that dress and burning it definitely not😂😮

Great vid as always.
You're extremely accomplished and competent for someone who's been on this world for fewer years than I've been playing Half-Life 🥰
I've been a fan of Star Wars for the 30 years I've been alive. Comics, books, videogames - before the Disney buyout, and even some after I've come to enjoy. I was watching the OT as as toddler, and my mom still laughs about me wearing out the VHSes Acolyte has single-handedly made me want to turn my back on the ENTIRE franchise, not only because it's so horrible, but because of the response to true criticisms. I no longer know if I've angry, or just don't care anymore.
I kinda hope Disney doesn't sell the franchise, because I want them to rot with the fact that they killed what used to be the largest franchise in pop culture. And even if they did sell, I don't think I'd get back into Star Wars.
I turned my back on the franchise after the Last Jedi.
Now Headland is talking about bringing back two "fan favorite Acolyte characters": Yord and Padawan Jecki. I wasn't aware Acolyte had fans 😂
Enjoyed watching you with Theory chat about all things Star Wars and Star Warts (Disney +). Keep up the great work!
Hi Snarky. Yes, I think it all makes sense. Story telling is key. Another tip is, to take more time crafting each story. Really let characters and their journey's incubate. Not so sure about the story group's effectiveness in all of this. Perhaps spend a year or so mapping out the Star Wars eras and connectimng key moments from the formation of the Sith and Jedi to today. Perhaps have a pretty complete history blueprint detailing key events, key characters and a geanology? Geonalagy? Family Tree thingy. I also think a solid "precepts and principles" platform is needed. Like a style guide for creators, detailing key values the work stands for. Ie - it stands for a few items, not least of which is good vs bad. Right vs Wrong. The power of second chances and redemption. The bond inherent in family etc etc. The Force needs tio be really clarified and understood too. Anyway, maybe I should make my own video. Good work. I do love watching and listening to your streams. I'm new. Oh btw - The dress is awesome..Don't burn it ;)
I think any company can only make a limited number of mistakes before they loose all trust from their consumers, I think Disney has crossed over that threshold
Can someone PLEASE explain why some Star Wars channels like ‘Star Wars Explained’ are STILL defending this shit?! Alex from that channel, like Theory, is a ‘Star Wars Expert’ but is still defending the lore changes and bad storytelling. How?! At least Grace Randolph didn’t like the last episode. However, in my opinion, Disney should have never had the rights to it!
I vote that only Gilroy should be allowed to create Star Wars shows.
I’m worried about Andor season 2. Is Disney going to get more involved and ruin that too?
I caught you on the Star Wars Theory stream with Drunk 3PO. You definitely have great insights and a sense of humour. I instantly subscribed and am enjoying your older videos. Keep up the great work and don't let the haters get you down.
The only way Star Wars can be saved in my opinion is you fire everyone at Lucasfilm, someone or a group buys it off Disney, restores Cannon, opens up LucasArts again and leaves the franchise alone for 15 years.
And wait 25 years. It'll take at least a generation to draw back anyone with an actual attention span.
maybe it becomes so unprofitable Disney lets it die and then years after that after Iger is gone, someone offers a lot for it even though it's practically worthless now, and spends years working on a killer strategy to revive it right and makes that money back.
@@badlaamaurukehu in fairness all it'll take is one legitimately good movie that gets the plot back on rails
unfortunately this means basically memory holing everything Disney's released save maybe Rogue One/Andor, so the collective ego at Disney won't allow that to ever happen...
The ONLY thing that can save Star Wars is to give it the Old Yeller treatment.
Going from remembering the Return of the Jedi hype to enduring the Star Wars drought to the excitement of the 97' rerelease and the prequels just to see it all crumble, this sucks

@@clonearmy77 I saw someone break down some numbers, but I can't for the life of me remember where. According to this, Disney made barely a quarter of their 4 billion dollar investment back in 12 years. Which is abysmal! when they acquired Marvel and Star Wars,I thought the worse that would happen was that some characters would break out into song...
Snarky, you 100% nailed it!
Idk if it’s true, but Disney can’t make as much money off the legacy characters so they have to create their own. I just don’t understand what they’re doing to ruin such an iconic brand:
At this point, there's nothing to understand. They're just intentionally ruining the brand by sheer incompetence, horrible writing, character butchering, canon breaking, wasting every potential for anything special, and so on. And then, blaming the fans for their own failures. Isn't it funny how they claimed we're threatened by female leads and diverse cast, when Rogue One, Andor, House Of The Dragon, Cobra Kai had really high scores by the audience?
And then they call us racist time and again, when they were the ones who shrunk Finn in the Chinese poster of TFA and they made his character into a bumbling joke.
My first memory is seeing Star Wars in theaters with my Dad, I don't even recognize what it's become
Guys I think we all need to band together and create fan films 😂
One thing I believe many fans don‘t think much about: The audience outside the fandom is way bigger than the fandom itself.
And these people are just watching the new Star Wars-show because … it has Star Wars in the title. But these people don‘t go online, they don‘t chat with other people about the shows, etc. They have no ideas about the discussions online.
So even if Lucasfilm would be antagonizing some parts of the fandom … There is always a way bigger target group, which will probably always watch the mayor Star Wars-productions no matter what.
if they let someone competent do a Starkiller show with Sam Witwer I would come back.
Not saying to start any arguments but I have to admit the Dave filoni and Jon favreau have kind of done Star Wars some justice. Again just my personal opinion, they at least gave us a some good reason to watch The Mandalorian and Kenobi series
Just brilliant miss Jay. I could not fathom a more effective & well spoken speech that champions all the OG SW fans like you just did here. I salute you. There is no defeat.. only victory and revenge. We will get our salvation.. someday.

Hey Jay loved the collab with Theory hoping for more in the future.
What drives me up a wall how they literally don't know how much work as gone into preserving Star Wars for decades. There's something like 380 novels. Over 100 video games from the Atari 2600 to the PS5 and every type of Computer starting with the Apple II. And something like 1,000 comics! And this is all the official stuff. Not counting fan made videos or even the official animated shows like The Clone Wars and Rebels.
There's so much precedent for HOW to make a Star Wars story and they know NONE of it nor would they care if they did. They'd act like it, and all the passion for decades of making it and lovingly consuming it never existed. It's beyond insulting and there isn't a Hell terrible enough for them.
Not for me, I'm afraid I've been pushed away and been told they don't want my money so often that now they'll never see a penny again.
Marvel has been stacking some wins with X-Men ‘97 and Deadpool & Wolverine (presale ticket sales and early screening reviews). Pixar just restored the box office with Inside Out 2 making one $1.4B WW. Star Wars is the only one that needs to get their shit together badly.
Declare all Disney Star Wars previous to be an alternate universe, recast the original roles, and make movies from the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn.
Save Clone Wars Season 7, Episode 9 - 12. Actually go and make those 4 episodes into a movie and release to theater.
Um...no!!! No, no, no! Tim Zahn is a hack!!!
I recently read the Thrawn trilogy and had the very same thought, that it could be the way to save Star Wars. Re-casting the roles would be controversial, but I think that fans are so tired of the direction that SW is going in and would warm up to the chance to see new adventures with their favorite characters in their primes again and finally get the sequel trilogy that they've always wanted. Then, afterwards, they could get another 25 years out of those actors playing those roles. That said, current Disney would totally screw such a rebuild up, but, hypothetically, with the right people overseeing Star Wars, it could work, I think.
I've been a 65 year old Star Wars fan since I first saw it in 1977 in the pouring rain here in NZ. I'm so upset by what Doseny- has done to one of the most important franchises in my life.
I've been collecting SW Merch since 1978. But no more! I'm going to save SO much money now! I've been forced to pirate the OT and PT movies, so now I can get rid of Doseny- and save even more money, but sadly, I will place myself on the copyright FBI train.
But that's ok; when I'm arrested, I can just say, "Disney made me do it!".
George, why did you sell it? You didn't need the money, I think you did it to prove Hollywood stinks. But we all knew that. You must be laughing like hell, over there at Skywalker Ranch. But surely, very deep down, you must be so upset (like us) with what they did to your baby. We, the Star Wars fan base, all feel violated, cheated, and betrayed.
But I guess that's the Woke agenda: to be negatively corporate, with liberal hegemony, that they see as wholly performative and helpful to overthrowing capitalism and instituting a more egalitarian society, destroying family, the church, and individualism, and bring about the swing to a Communist, evil, anti-norm, overly politically correct, and the destruction of free speech and creativity.
Good on you, Doseny; you're doing your bit.

My suggestion is to get rid of Blackrock, Vanguard, CIA (or just those who are enabling the ego machine) along with Apple and the regimes over at Disney an WBD.
Perfect truth. Seriously, you are spot on.
Loved the fett dress too, I'd loved that on a T
Unfortunately my anger has turned to apathy by now, the worst fate any show can suffer. Unless they put you in charge then I'll give it another chance 🤟😎
Spaceballs 2: Revenge of the Helmet
Please.
I wish I had $200M to make a SW parody right now. Soooo much material to work from, it’d be epic I say. Epic!
I absolutely love your videos. I'm 51 years old and remember going to see A New Hope when it was released here in the UK at just 5 years old! The franchise has lost all it's magic and enjoyment now. I can watch those films today and still get excited. I dropped out after Mando 3 and will never watch anything they release now. Such a joke!
We are seeing a lot of big companies doing such things to subscribers, fans, community etc. They get so big and forget why they are doing it, and pay attention to shareholders more. It set up to milk the cow...
The stories have already been written, a long time ago, at the time of the original series in the form of really wonderful books, full of imagination, optimism, beauty and a completely different direction to Disney's. And each book needed to fit into the story but add to it. Would be amazing if they could be brought to life as movies.
The best stories are now "Legends"...
You’re 100% correct, although I think Iger is a part of the problem. He could have cleaned house already but hasn’t.
This video couldn't have been more accurate. Everything you said was spot on. Star Wars is nearly dead.
Kennedy's real crime and why I'm surprised Disney hasn't fired her is the diminishing returns: She has not EXPANDED the fan base. As someone who saw ESB opening night, a lot of people there in the crushing crowd were significant others who were going along for the ride because their spouse/mate was into it. When you alienate the fan base itself, do you think those "normies" are going to watch on their own?
As usual, you hit the nail on the head.
Making a series about Star Wars legends would save everything
I've watched Rogue One twice and Andor again since ditching the acolyte. That has kept me sane.
Thank you for hitting the bullseye with this video
"transforms it into something you don't recognize".... yep
