    I took my auger out ,sanded and polished it slick when new,removed door switches and vacume switches,been running perfect for 3 years,no problems..dumb teaching dummer,and they all get cold...use good dry pelletts,keep them clean,and they run forever..

      Thanks, friend. It really is so easy to get caught up in life and let these things get away from us. But, hopefully this will help someone if they find themselves in the same situation.

    You really have some dusty pellets. That could be why you are getting auger jams. You might want to change brands of pallets.

    • @countrymamamusings7701
      @countrymamamusings7701  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Randy ... it's one of those things where we get one we can due to our geographic location (aka extremely rural) .. when we get the opportunity to go into the "big city" we get the better quality pellets. Thanks for watching, and stay warm this winter 😀

    I believe after 4 years of running mine I have run into this same problem at 2 in the morning of course. I'm lucky to have a wood stove and a furnace so I will remove my cover tomorrow as you did but how were you able to get your Auger to rotate with the top fill door open. I must have a safety feature on mine because it will not run with the door open. This was a great video and I will definitely let you know if I was able to fix mine. Thanks

      Sorry to hear you're having some of the same issues we experienced, kagnewm. You're correct, there is a safety feature in place when the lid is open, much like how a washing machine won't work when the lid is open. We did press in on the safety mechanism for demonstration during thus video, but didn't show it or elaborate as we didn't want to encourage others to do so as it IS a safety risk. However, as it may be necessary during the course of diagnosis/repair, we just stress using extreme caution ⚠️ ... we simply use a small item, such as the flat head of a screw driver to push in on that mechanism. I hope thus helps. Thanks for watching, and stay warm 😊

      @@countrymamamusings7701 Just wanted to update you on my pellet stove. The Auger was not plugged so that pretty much left the door switch as the nasty culprit. I took a small screwdriver and pushed the tab down and the auger came on and filled the stove and it lit just fine. The problem now is when I remove the screwdriver and shut the door it won't feed pellets. It's a 10 year old Lennox so I might have to do some digging to find another switch. Thanks for your Video

    Nicely done! One other tip is to try your best to sift out sawdust from the last of every bag (I use a nested bucket setup. The inner bucket is full of holes (3/16" if I remember right). I just take the last bit (maybe 5-10 cups worth) and dump them into the buckets, then shake them out. I buy top grade pellets and still pull out 2-4 tablespoons of dust from every single bag. That's got to add up over the season and block the auger (looked like yours was pretty blocked up with sawdust).

    • @countrymamamusings7701
      @countrymamamusings7701  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Matt ! Thanks for watching and for your great comment! We do, in fact, have a bucket sifter, but I must confess I snagged it to rinse the clay pebbles for my Kratky / hydroponic lettuce garden...lol (If you haven't seen that video series, I hope you'll check it out.. I salvaged an industrial salad bar and turned it into my living salad garden in my kitchen) Anyways, back to to the sifter, we have one....I snagged it from hubby... and it would seem smart of me to replace it so we don't have this issue again! We have noticed some suppliers have better pellet quality than others, and do our best to get the better ones...but sometimes supply is limited here in the rural areas. Thanks so much for watching and hope you'll stop by again. ~CMM

    Big THANKS from France! My stove showed since yesterday H09 error : Auger motor is broken(Motoreducteur en panne).
    So I was kinda scared because I couldn't find something in french on Internet and TH-cam, and I was ready to call the customer service and paying for sure at least 120 euros!
    But I found your videos and everything works now!
    I went up to step 2 where I removed the kind of metal panel and unjammed with my fingers the auger.
    Much love!🎉

    Rather than going through the giant hassle of scooping out pellets, use a shopvac. Takes about 10 seconds.

  • @johnseavey6622
    @johnseavey6622 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looked like the pellets have a lot of fines in them. Iv'e been burning pellets for 10years. The way my stove works if it clogs I use an old coat hanger to to dislodge pellets and fines. Have never had to take anything apart, so far. Never say never!

    • @countrymamamusings7701
      @countrymamamusings7701  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John ... yes, it seems to really depend on the manufacturer of the pellets... sometimes, we have limited options and have to get what pellets the local farm store has... of course, when we can get those better quality pellets, we're happy campers! Thanks for watching 😀

    There should be a separate escape tube out the side or something, right into some buckets...unless people don't mind the exercise.

    How can u tell if the auger is jammed or just not working? Mine sounds normal and it sounds like its turning but no pellets are dropping down

    • @countrymamamusings7701
      @countrymamamusings7701  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's possible that at some point your auger may have jammed and sheared off, breaking at a lower point. So, while it sounds like it's turning/moving, it may not be doing its job down at the very bottom, and pellets are unable to get to the firebox. You may need to look into replacing the auger, itself, and perhaps a technician may be needed.

    G'day Alicia.
    I've never really looked at a pellet stove before. When you were saying "auger" I was assuming it was a part with a similar name to what I think an auger is, but it actually is one. Well there you go!
    Good video Alicia. I really can see people looking this up on TH-cam for help.
    All the best.

    I've been trying to find a way to tighten the set screw that attaches the auger to the motor because it has come loose causing the motor to spin freely while the auger doesn't move. We don't have a stove with a removable auger plate so I'm trying to tighten the screw with a short allen wrench in a VERY tight space. I don't want to take the stove apart but if I can't tighten this screw myself, im afraid I'm going to have to pay someone to service it.

    • @countrymamamusings7701
      @countrymamamusings7701  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shawn … apologies for the delay in responding. If you have limited access to the set screw, see if you can get your hands on a Allen wrench that has a ball end on it. This may help you obtain the correct angle needed to get some grip on that set screw. Also, there may be an issue with the auger motor shaft where the set screw goes, it may have a flat spot where the screw needs to be set. If the shaft is presenting with a curved surface, the screw can’t set. Check online to see if you can find any reference material for your particular make/model to see if there’s some unique design characteristics to consider. I hope you’re able to resolve this issue soon and have an alternative heat source until then. Stay warm, and thanks for watching.

    • @shawnhilliard
      @shawnhilliard ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@countrymamamusings7701 Thanks for the reply! The motor shaft does have a flat side to it and I'm able to tighten the set screw before sliding it over that flat surface enough that the auger successfully spins. However, I worry that it's just a matter of time before that screw works its way back out because the auger wobbles since it's not snug against the flat edge of the shaft. The set of Allen wrenches I bought has a ball on the end of the long side of the wrenches but I didn't know why that was lol. I'll have to look up the function of this ball.

    • @shawnhilliard
      @shawnhilliard ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Back again after watching a video on how the ball end works. Pretty cool! I'm going to give it a shot because I can surely roll the wrench between my fingers easier than I can torque it with zero wiggle room

    • @countrymamamusings7701
      @countrymamamusings7701  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope this works for you, Shawn! Please keep us updated!

    • @shawnhilliard
      @shawnhilliard ปีที่แล้ว

      @@countrymamamusings7701 I was not able to get a lock on the screw unfortunately. For some reason, they positioned the screw just below the lowest point of the auger's spiral so when rotated so the screw is facing upright, it's completely blocked by the auger. If I rotate the auger a bit, I can barely connect the stubby end of my shortened allen wrench with the screw but the wrench is already flush with the small opening that exposes the motor shaft so I can't turn the wrench at all and the angle is too severe for the ball to sit in the screw. Essentially the ball sits higher than the back half of the wrench so I can't get it to grab let alone maneuver a rolling of the wrench once in position 😮‍💨
