    wow I've learned so much from you my sister. I'm Nigerian and from the Yoruba tribe, I was born here in the states and that's done a lot of damage to my spirituality. I'm doing research and have recently taken interest in IFA and ancestor reverence I don't know much but I've already seen the blessings from my ancestors and the orishas. I'm so happy that you made things plain and real, a lot of the information I find has been glamorized and watered down by the media and what is popular. I love the way you broke everything down and you have a beautiful energy, please make more videos!

    I am glad you said that about altars. That just didn’t agree with my spirit when I heard someone else say I would have to make one with pictures of my deceased family members, and I needed to put out some food for them.

    I believe you sister. My mum died. It will be 6 years in May. I found it hard to accept it and months after her death, I started a new job, I self employed. It is a long story but to cut it short, this Asian girl who didn't know me and had just seen me for the first time, said to me that I had a spirit around me. I cursed her out at first. And told her not to pull that crap on me and she apologised but insisted that the spirit wanted me to know that everything was going to be ok, she said told it looked motherly and was cuddling me. I burst into tears. I knew Mum was right there with me. I cried uncontrollably because we used to talk about spirits when I was growing and she used to say to me that she wouldn't bother me when she was gone because I was scared of them. But that is when I knew I was really having a hard time. She had no choice but to comfort her. This Asian had never seen me before that day, she didn't know my mother. Everytime I am worried, I feel her. RIP MUM.

    I believe I waa lead to find you.. I resonate with all you have said.. And it started with me watching your bead video.. I've been wearing for atleast 20 years.. There is more than one deity that has come to me that I do believe is one of the same Isis and oshun.. Mostly Oshun... Something you said in another video exchange of energy without giving up my energy and using mine appropriately for me.. I also was going to make an ancestors altar.. You have made this so clear and I understand as I visualize what you're saying spiritually.. 💗💜💗💜 mentally and physically... Like I really get it.. I don't feel so scattered as to where to start... And I've been cautious about how I should start... So helpful thank you so much.. I'm new to your channel

Nowadays life isn 't easy or good to the most people in our present and we have to change that quickly -- we will all have our benefit from doing it ..*smile For me as the jewish , i am i want to say it truely and clear : I have wonderful african friends worldglobal ,muslims or not and i do not want to miss a single one of them .

    Alafia and Ase! i just wanted to say I am encouraged to have been led to your video. The information you shared was inspiring and insightful, I recently have began studying IFA. And I haven′t looked at your video concerning Ancestor veneration but I have been told to establish a relationship with my Ancestors through an altar. I have been taught the importance of establishing a strong bond and relationship with them but I am a bit uncertain whether to take your advice and not have a altar, or go about establishing my Ancestor relationship without one. If you can kindly assist me in discerning how can I go about establishing my bond with my Ancestors without an altar? And did you go about establishing your bond with your Ancestors without an altar. Once again very informative video and insightful information. Thanks Makeda for sharing from your perspectives.

      Because we're from one of the groups who had to give up their old ways it's historic fiction, folklore, and books that introduce landscape my granddaughter will read repeatedly to not lack knowledge of ancient ancestors, and even Makeda Wisdom's videos have helped my granddaughter see the main idea of several spirituality topics of Africa. So find the explanations that fit your interest, for my granddaughter these other book types were easier than pure non-fiction history, and she's 29 years old also learning some African stuff with a new African American friend she's only had for 4 months so far. Even museums could help with knowledge it depends on the subject though.

    You're right it's a lot of people that are teaching spirituality. I'm most of it is based upon not having a clear understanding. And the only reason why I relate to you. It's because my parents were from Louisiana and New Orleans they knew their ancestors. And in private they kept their tradition. Are you speaking the same words I've heard sitting at those ancestors feet. And watching them. But because they were ashamed to be an African and black. I don't like that word black. They were a shame that they talked it different languages. They should have told us more.. They wanted to be accepted. So they did away with their languages. Because of the stigma. I think they were ashamed of who they were. My mother used to wake up in the morning chanting. Her and her mother. In bare feet.. But she wouldn't speak her language in front of other people. And years later her accent went away to. I wish she was alive today. To see us now. Learning and embracing our traditions spiritualities. Keep teaching somebody is listening.

    • @Qtalkz
      @Qtalkz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Williams ignore that and do not allow it to hold you back from being who you feel you are meant to be. Do not hate your mother just accepts that she does not know better. Ask for guidance from your fathers side or grandparents/any family that you know loved and cherish you. Trust they are always by your side, protecting you and cheering for you because they want to see you WIN. Know that nothing and no one can stop what is meant for you. You will succeed. I am also from Ghana my dear brother and I hoped this reply helped you.

      While the Bible may not suit everyone, it does serve some people very well and these people are not less spiritual than anyone else. We are all on our own spiritual path so when we focus on our path, the only people we should be telling what to do or not are those for whom we take responsibility (ex. Children) and those we want to transmit to (ex. Students). Most of the rest would take way to much time that could be devoted on walking one path 🌺

      True Makeda Wisdom. Plus those who'd rather let their cultural secrets be mixed, my family tree starts with the Jewish but then continues with Spain and Mexico. There are similarities that hide, beets in Spain similar to facts of grape juice in Egypt. Plus there are times the bible is more useful than history for the truth of ancestors, it's the bible that's helped my granddaughter understand Africa's long lasting uneasy events with Europe and Asia, the bible is also what's helped my granddaughter stay aware of the few beliefs Jewish and Christians share. Even as a Hispanic Christian it's Africa my granddaughter really has feelings for.

    We should understand that people should avoid praying to someone hanging on a cross and drinking his blood
    There is a difference between spirituality and cannibalism
    We should follow the way of the ancient ones
    For example: Queen Nefertiti she was in nature and showing respect to the live giving Sun and was receiving many blessings from the Sun energy
    AUM is also the energy from the Sun and The Supreme
    Take care

    Hi Makeda.
    I didn't started yet the dream work to connect with my ancestors.
    But, through all my life I used to think about my grands parents : gd father (father's side) and gd mother (mother's side).
    Now i often feel the presence of my grand mother. Sometimes I suprisingly think about her when I'm braiding my hair.
    And I'm asking a lot about her. So I recently knew she used to do her own cosmetics; what I'm doing too.
    Can we consider this sitation as a kind of connexion? Thank you

    Bonsoir Ida j'aimerais savoir si toutes les communautés peuvent aussi communiquer avec leurs ancêtres comme les Africains et est-ce parce que tu portes le nom d'un ancêtre que tu es forcément lié à lui et à son passé ?

    • @MakedaWisdom
      @MakedaWisdom  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Coucou Minel, chaque communautés à ses propres traditions, donc à chacun de les explorer. De cette perspective, chacun suit les traditions de son peuple. Mais, si on n'adhère pas à ces dernières alors, on a la latitude d'explorer d'autres traditions pour trouver celle qui nous permet d'avancer. Ce n'est pas donné à tout le monde cependant, ceux qui se défont de la tradition sans la comprendre par exemple, peuvent avoir des problèmes plus tard. C'est pour cela que je conseille toujours la connaissance de soi avant l'exploration des autres. Car par la, on peut être amener naturellement vers d'autres traditions.
      Le nom que tu portes représente un énergie qui est avec toi. Chez nous quand quelqu'un commet un acte horrible, son nom est bani de la famille pour ne pas transmettre cette énergie à qui que ce soit. Ton nom est la pour t'assister, c'est pour cela qu'il faut connaitre la signification de son nom du village car cela peut nous donner des indications sur notre but, nos obstacles etc... Ce n'est pas fataliste car on peut transmuter cette énergie. Regarde ma vidéo sur les noms ici: th-cam.com/video/Cm5qNw9eY9U/w-d-xo.html

      We dont worship the ancestors, we honor them, it is not the same

      Right Makeda Wisdom pleasure of help is different from believing someone created something and deserves praise, even the emotional results are different, one your positive feelings are those like confidence the other one your thought is someone's surprisingly powerful and you do your best to be cautious. Plus there are cultures that do both worship the lord and honor the ancestors.

    Greetings to you and your loved ones. I have a question that is bugging me and I'm hoping you may know the answer.. Is there a tribe in Cameroon that is connected/related to the PUNU tribe in the Congo? Thanks

    • @MakedaWisdom
      @MakedaWisdom  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi sis. If you learn more about the PUNU tribe in the Congo, that will answer our question. Artificial borders created during colonization did not change the similarities between certain tribes, but you need to research this for yourself to see or know. I think you will also appreciate it more than me just telling you because the answer is not that hidden.

      Hello beloved,
      Your true name is the one you chose to honor and make.
      You can make any name you carry holy, you decide.
      Or you can let the name carry you where it pleases.
      The choice is always yours.
      Much Peace to you,
      -Makeda Wisdom

    Please sister do another video to explain about what u do to honor ur ancestors instead of the alter. I'm American n new to spirituality so I don't know much please help me understand

    • @MakedaWisdom
      @MakedaWisdom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi love, I think I already did in another video but essentially, you honor your ancestors first through the way you conduct yourself.

    • @lacheredenton5736
      @lacheredenton5736 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh ok well I got that down, lol. I just had heard of not using an ancestral alter so I was wondering why you weren't recommending them. Thanks again
