I love it!! I recently started needle felting and bought a kit which comes with wool, needles and a book. What I found was that the wool that I was given was no where near enough to create an example. If I wanted it big I didn't have enough white wool for the base shape and found that it was 'not ready' and was still squishy. If I poked more it would be 2x smaller than the diagram! oh well. I love your tutorials and will be looking into buying these kits. Its very hard to find shops which sell things for needle felting here where I live. (NZ) thanks for this!! ^_^
“There is no replacement for a felting needle.” *looks sadly at sewing needle* Edit: I got a Felting Needle! now i dont gotta try and make little hooks in my sewing needle.
lol this seems soooo aggressive to end up with adorable little outcomes. Especially when stabbing the eyeholes, made me wince. Seriously though I wonder if this would be good for people with anger issues or people with misplaced aggression or energy
This video is very useful! Thank you! I have a question for you. You often use kits but when you want to make an original progect how do you estimate the amount of wool to use for every single piece?
Silvia Orecchia You're welcome, so happy you found it useful! After making quite a lot of kits, I can estimate how much wool might be needed for an original piece based on the wool they give you in the kits. If it's a very small piece you can hold in your hand, then 10g of wool combined with filler material (stuffing/foam) is almost always enough. Ideally, you want to only use the pricier felting wool for outside colour and detail. I find it's a huge shame to waste felting wool creating the bulk/core of a piece because you don't see that at all and it keeps getting smaller as you felt so you have to keep using more XD. So wherever possible I try to use fillers or scrap wool for the inside, and "new" wool for the outside.
honestly why isnt she just the queen of youtube because she does so many amazing ideas even when they dont turn out well, she tried and we can all learn from our mistakes!! :)
This is one of the more helpful guides I've come across on TH-cam. Other's don't go that in depth into felting, say, 3d shapes. Thanks for making this! Also, I was wondering if you could do a wool guide too, for felting projects. I've been wondering what types/brands of wool to use for different projects and skill levels (and about the course or fine varieties).
I used to never watch your felting videos, but ever since I took a class last week I'm obsessed with felting! I think I'm gonna be watching these videos a lot more now!
Hi Macaroon I just thought I'd tell you how much you have inspired me to try to learn to felt. So I mentioned it to my mum and got a load of felting wool, needles and sponges etc and now I love needle felting. So thank you
Ah, another one of your wonderful felting tutorials! Your work is just TOO adorable, I want to go and make all of them right now! 😍 This tutorial is so well done, nicely paced for a newbie like myself, and clear video showing steps. Thanks so much for sharing these great tips!
Thank you for making yet another helpful video Maqaroon 💕 I've always wanted to do needle felting but it always seemed so complicated. I've always wanted to craft and you've motivated me to realize my dreams. :3 I make many plushies now and soon plan on selling some in hopes to get money for college. thank you a lot for all your help. I'm a big fan 😍
Super useful, thank you!! I make felted gifts for Christmas and I’ve always just done it my own way since I’m self taught and stubborn but it never comes out perfect so I finally decided it was time to learn haha
+annabgx same goes for polymer clay starter kits small packs of clay indeed I fell for it and I tried to warn someone else but they didn't believe me :/
I found your channel about two months ago and I have watched basically all of your videos! You inspired me to start needle felting. I ordered a starter kit last week and it came today!
Thank you so much for this video! I actually have a ton of needle felting kits from daiso but I never ever started felting because I'm so scared that I'll ruin it😢 You reminded me to start practicing needle felting more often because I'm not skillful in that department 😅😅😅
DreamCrafters DIY Yay so happy it helped!! The Daiso kits are great because you can literally get started right away and they also have english instructions which are very useful. Needlefelting isn't that hard to learn at all..the first kit or two might feel a bith strange since you're getting used to the wool but after that you will very quickly be able to make all sorts of designs!
Hi Johanna!! I have just started needle felting because of you! I think it is very fun but it can be a challenge! You have inspired me so much on both of your channels! Like your chocolate clay tutorial, eos tutorials, and so many others! When I grow up I want to be as smart, intelligent, a great spirit, and an amazing crafter like you! You inspire people, young and old, to be the most amazing they can be. I know this comment we get lost in the sea of comments, but I just want to say, Thank You Johanna❤️I have a feeling that many people would agree. Keep being the amazing person you are❤️ Ava H. thank you so much. The using a sponge instead of a melting mat and the using cotton wool instead of needle felting wool just saved me a lot of money!!!!!!! That was so helpful. Plus you also gave me quite a few safety tips to follow when i start needle felting, that was also cool. Thx a lot
Sakuems Yay, so glad to hear that! It's the perfect thing to take with on holiday because you don't need electricity, ovens or any fancy equipment. Plus it's so relaxing as well
Thank you for this! I've needle felted from a kit before, but I want to order a needle felting starter kit on Amazon along with a needle felting pen that has multiple needles on it! I plan on making little animals and things to give to people as gifts when it's their birthday or other occasions!
For Christmas I'm getting a needle felting kit, making reindeers and a santa for my teacher, and giving them after Christmas break! IM SO EXCITED! Such an inspiration ;D
Hi Maqaroon! You have been such an inspiration to me ever since I saw your channel! I would really like to learnt how to needle felt so your channel is just right for me! Also, I need to ask, do you think it would be a good idea for a young crafty kid (me) to learnt how to needle felt?
Hi! Thank you so much, I'm so honoured to hear that my channel was an inspiration to you. I think needlefelting is suitable for all children if they are ready to work with needles. So if you're already happy with sewing/embroidery then needlefelting is no different :)! Just like sewing, there's always a risk of poking yourself but you can reduce that by working slowly and taking care not to hold your fingers too close to the needle.
Hi,Maquaroon! In our country there are only two kits so I hope you could make a tutorial about how to make this two felted kits. The two kits I have are the dog and the bear(I think they're the same company as the bunny, they are from Daiso). And by the way,I love your channel. It helps me alots in making EOS without beewas and cocounut oil. Love ya
+Anh Thư Hoàng Aww thank you!!! I'm afraid I don't have those two kits at home and it's hard for me to get hold of Daiso kits because they don't have them in my country. However most felting kits are really not that difficult to do even if you don't have a video tutorial for them. Simply look at the photo and try make the piece look as similar to the picture as possible. I recommend ignoring the instructions completely because they're often inaccurate and make the kit seem more difficult that it is. It's a lot more fun to just make it "by eye" and you learn a lot more too :D
Thanks so much! After finding out what needle felting is after watching some youtube videos, I found myself interested and wanted to take up this project. I will remember this when I start felting!
ive seen you use a felting needle thats a handle with four short needle ends poking out. (you used it in you neko atsume video)whats the difference between that and the needle i this video?
+•ᴄʏʟʟᴇɴᴇ ᴍᴇᴍᴏʀʏ ᴍᴏᴏɴ• (!i!i! кıтα !i!i!) Hi! If you use a felting pen with more needles it saves some time when felting and you can felt larger surfaces. I got all my needles and the pen from this Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/1127handcrafter
You also need some patience when working this XD And don't watch any videos or talk with someone if you have to keep looking at them, since this will increase the chance getting poked by the needle. OUCH

SPAZ OUT!" and next thing you know, my little ball of felt is on the floor, the pad is in my lap, and the needle is halfway across the table.
I recently return from HK and did managed to visit Daiso store, well called Living Plaza owned by AEON who import Daiso products. I did see lots of the cute animal needle felting kits but brought other craft kits instead. After watching your video I do inspired to do some needle felting kit and believe you can buy daiso kits in Etsy. Does look therapeutic even though the finished project takes along time so does amigurumi and patchwork. I am very busy with other projects but will get needle felting ago the future and will order of these daiso kit as they are so cute.
Me too! I used those needles that you use for sewing, not a sewing needle, but those ones with a little ball on the end, I didn't do anything to the needle, and it worked just as well :)
Thank god I found this video, I just started wool felting and I’m a bit confused, my first cat was pretty good, but the how-to-make-a-circle demonstration really helped
@@jennydespot7929 No, not really. Wool and some other natural fibers have small barbs on the strands that help hold things together. Poly stuffing strands are long and smooth, so there is nothing for it to hold on to. That is just another urban myth. Stick with wool. And use batting rather than roving.
Thank you for the tips! It help real much. Especially not breaking the needle because mine always break and it's getting really annoying :( but it really helps and stops me from buying needles every week. Thank you very very much!!!
Thank you for the very simple to follow video. I have always wanted to 'try' felting.... well... today at the local Dollar Store, they had a kit with two bunnies for $3. So, it came home with me. ... It did not have much for directions, so I went searching and yours was the first video which I came across... Very easy to follow instructions. Again... Thank you very much
Thank you for such a brilliant instructive video, you went through the finer details of felting and \i found it very informative thank you again and keep the videos going xx
so many cool people are left handed! danisnotonfire, baylee jae, and you! i heard (from danisnotonfire's videos and my lefty friends) that being left-handed is pretty inconvinient though :o
+Tiffany Zheng As a lefty: yes and no. It's true, the world and everything in it were not designed for lefties (can openers are one of the first things that comes to mind!) but you've literally been dealing with it your whole life, so you learn to adapt and don't really notice the inconveniences.
+a simple meme I use both hands for writing sometimes but I always found it easier doing stuff and writing with my right hand though I was naturally left handed :/
Somegamer You're welcome, so glad it helped!! I hear from a lot viewers about needles breaking but I've only broken one so far, and that was because I was trying to make holes for the eyes so I deliberately tilted the needle around when it was inside the felt and I was surprised at how easily it snapped off.
Maqaroon Yeah, if you're trying to make holes next time, i recommend investing in an awl. They last quite a long time too so it's worth it's worth it in the long run
I've watched pretty much all you clips and it's making me want to try felting. I must say you have the prettiest hands. And that combined with the felting poking sound has a definite ASMR effect on me. Very pleasant clips to watch and informative.
Hey Maqaroon! I remember when I was younger and in elementary school I would add glue to torn up yarn and poke it into a bead with a bent paper clip and call it needle felting XD But seriously you are so amazing at what you do and I can't believe where I would be in crafting without your videos!
+Brookline McNeil The kits come with English and Japanese instructions so far I am completed Daiso beaded bear and opened up a felt sweet kit the kind involving sewing and gluing.
Thanks for the tips! I started needle felting few months ago and I have to admit that tips are still usefull! By the way, congrats for your two channels! :)
+Elly12 actually, it's really smart to wear protection. I thought I was too cool and didn't wear any protection, and ended up pricking my thumb under the nail... so much blood... :(
There is a substitute for a felting needle. Kinda... I used a small sewing needle that I taped to a pencil, using the blunt side to felt. It's not as precise as a specialty felting needle but it did the job well enough to make some felt sculptures. Also, it saved me from poking my fingers a million times. So for all you less well coordinated folks out there: You can felt, too, without losing copious amounts of blood and all sensation in your finger tips....
Very useful, i love your channel! It's so relaxing and i think that is more easy to Learn when there's no People talking an there's more Demonstration, or at least for me
Omg .. brilliant tut for beginners!! THIS is what I've been looking for. I've heard about you a lot in the felting world .. I didn't even realize til the end .. I was like THIS person rocks .. I'll like & sub for sure .. then the end came with your logo & deets & I went "ooooh of course the famous Macaron!!" Hehe. Thanks heaps, that bunny head looks amazing! I LOVE the details, the flowers .. oh!! Thanks for showing how to do find detail like the nose. Also no where have I seen anyone put the ears on like that? I'm going to try that for sure. Thanks for sharing your talents with us all🙌🤘❤️️
i have done this but i am interested in learning how to do it... your video was very helpful...how did you learn needle felting? i would like to see a tutorial on the other flat cookie animals you showed there...so cute
Janet Velazquez Thank you, glad this video was helpful! I learned felting by making kits...I found that was very effective because the kits have a clear beginning and end, and contains all the materials required to complete the piece. The tutorial for the roll cakes are here: th-cam.com/video/UFW05-GjHnU/w-d-xo.html and I have a similar one for cookies using melamine foam here: th-cam.com/video/4spi0Vt4A70/w-d-xo.html
That one girl who likes food You're welcome! When I first started felting I also poked myself a lot, but I realised that once you get the hang of it, poking happens much less often or stops completely. Your brain quickly learns the correct position of your fingers vs needle and the more you practise, the easier & safer it will become :).
Maqaroon, if u use stuffing to save the actual wool, will it also make the completed design squishy and soft, not hard? I'm asking this cuz I may want to make a plushie with this. Thank you!
Jonghyub Lee Hi! If you wrap the stuffing with wool and then felt the wool very well, the final piece will still have the same texture/hardness as normal needlefelt. You may need to wrap it in a few layers of felting wool to build up size and that wool creates a hard "casing" around the stuffing so it won't feel too squishy :)
I actually made this exact same kit a few weeks before this video was released. It was my first time needle felting so I poked myself a few times. When I was almost done, I poked myself so badly my blood stained the back side of the bunny. I ended up using some leftover red felting wool to make a heart at the back and cover the blood stain.
Thank you for another top ten! I've always wanted to try needle felting, but I wasn't sure how to start. Now after watching this I now know. Thank you! ^3^
Christine C. Thank you!! These are things I sort of mentioned in other videos but I though a top 10 would make it easy for people to learn all the basics in one place ^_^
I am so glad that my friend from Furry Animo referred me to your channel! She said that you helped her with learning to needle felt. I can't wait to start since I have the tools and the felting wool as I bought them from Amazon.
Hi Joanne! So I was wondering if you would do more 3Doodler & clay videos? And if you can't do those then can you please do more DIY needlefelting projects? I don't have any stores with kits in this place and my parents are afraid of buying something online (my moms friend got hacked and lost all her money so that's why) so I was wondering if you would do a project without the use of kits, also what type of wool is in the kits? It looks like ordinary felt but when you felt it on then it looks like wool. Can you please tell me the name of it? Thank you!
Maqaroon, I have a question. For needle felting, can I use other products instead of using wool? And can you do a tutorial on how to make air dry clay or paper clay, plz?
I've been watching Maqaroon for a while now mainly for squishies and stuff but recently I've stumbled upon needle felting and have declared that i would start doing it.
FluffyPupsTV That's unfortunately an issue which is hard to get rid of completely. I've tried so many different felting mats to see if it's makes a difference but the wool always tends to get pushed inside. The only solution is to keep turning the piece back and forth so it doesn't get stuck too firmly into the mat.
This video really helped me out! But one thing I'm stuck on and have been trying to find out what type of glue do you use to secure the eyes? I'm from Australia and all of the recommended glue I've found are usually American brands we don't have here. Is regular craft glue okay? Is that the same thing as tacky glue? I was considering superglue but I'm worried it might damage the felted piece.. Anyone and everyone's recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
I am obsessed with this channel. Everything is so beautifully put together. ❤
+Meowlzebub Thank you ^__^!! That comment totally made my day

Thanks!! Awesome vid! think i might try it now :))
+BlueRaspberryCharms omg! its you :o i love your videos btw !! :)
BlueRaspberryCharms g
Thank you for the very simple to follow video. I have always wanted to 'try' felting.... well... today at the local Dollar Store, they had a kit with two bunnies for $3. So, it came home with me. ...
It did not have much for directions, so I went searching and yours was the first video which I came across... Very easy to follow instructions. Again... Thank you very much
Can you do more 3Doodler DIYs?
+Emma Wilton Meh. I think I am good at art (for my age), and I am right handed.
+a simple meme I use both hands for writing sometimes but I always found it easier doing stuff and writing with my right hand though I was naturally left handed :/
Taylor Reeze oh nice ive always wanted ot be ambidextrous
You have inspired me sooo much Maqaroon to start needle felting and I love it! Thank you sooo super much! 😘😍☺️😇😊😀😆😉👍🏼✌🏼️❤️💞💙💚💛💜💕💖💗💝💓💟
Thanks!Im just starting and this helped a lot ^_^
Derp Seal Same here. Was pretty informative.
Derp Seal Thank you!!
+Maqaroon Can you over-felt your wool?
+Maqaroon can you just use a normal medal for felting
Thanks for the tips, my needles kept breaking but now I know! I love your needle felting tutorials!
They last quite a long time too so it's worth it's worth it in the long run
pff, i remember when i first found your videos, i thought you were felting on a pumice stone X''D
I've watched pretty much all you clips and it's making me want to try felting. I must say you have the prettiest hands. And that combined with the felting poking sound has a definite ASMR effect on me. Very pleasant clips to watch and informative.
Cute! Thanks for the tips, i plan to make something small for my girlfriend :)
Literally, ur channel is #GOALS
I got them at exact kit! I'M SO HAPPY NOW SINCE I'M USING THE EXACT SAME NEEDLE OMG
I love you so much Maqaroon!!!!!!!!
Yay! Thanks for this video, I managed to make the NeedleFelt Kittens and the Neko Atsume ones too. They turned out great!
+Maestro Wong Hi! you're welcome!! im so glad it hear that it turned out well!! :DD
Haha Rob should watch this video
Lmao yeah
agreed
lmao you said Fuchs (Fuchs is fox in German)
Britney Ta lol yes
Hey Maqaroon! I remember when I was younger and in elementary school I would add glue to torn up yarn and poke it into a bead with a bent paper clip and call it needle felting XD But seriously you are so amazing at what you do and I can't believe where I would be in crafting without your videos!
Just a question, can you read Japanese? I'm just curious. It would be so cool if you did, too! :)
+Brookline McNeil Hi! Unfortunately I can't read any japanese...when I make the kits I just look at the diagrams ^_^"
+Maqaroon I thought you did cause you did everything like if it was nothing
+Brookline McNeil The kits come with English and Japanese instructions so far I am completed Daiso beaded bear and opened up a felt sweet kit the kind involving sewing and gluing.
Great tips. As a beginner this really helps me. Thank you.
Ine time i got distracted and i was just poking the faom!😅😅😂😂😂
Foam
Lol😂
Ha
🍭 😁
Thanks for the tips! I started needle felting few months ago and I have to admit that tips are still usefull! By the way, congrats for your two channels! :)
Step 2: Hold the wool like this, Never like this
Me: .. i dont wanna prick myself, screw it WEAR THIMBLES!!
Lol
+Elly12 actually, it's really smart to wear protection. I thought I was too cool and didn't wear any protection, and ended up pricking my thumb under the nail... so much blood... :(
+Keyboard-Kitty I once got a needle suck IN my nail and it hurt so bad to A. Have it in there and B. Pull it out.
My grandma bought me rubber thimbles specifically for needle felting.
Thanks I'm starting out and I've done it for 2 months and this helped because I have the exact same kit from daiso.
This video was extremely helpful and now I might get into needle felting so I can try your diys. Because I really want to try your sock plushies.
Thanks for sharing your talents with us all🙌🤘❤️️
I am so sorry .. it's Maqaroon! Are you Scottish? 🤔😁
MissFlux She is Chinese but she lives in Austria and she can speak both German and English fluently
your my fav TH-camr for plushie and needle felting tutorials!
I got my first needle kit set from Barns&Noble. I was so happy I got it!! But, I didn't see your tutorials back then... :(
i have done this but i am interested in learning how to do it... your video was very helpful...how did you learn needle felting? i would like to see a tutorial on the other flat cookie animals you showed there...so cute
Maqaroon thanks for your reply
You inspired me to do needle felting now I'm online shopping for the stuff I need for needle felting!
Thank you for this video! I’m a newbie on needle felting and this video helped a lot 😌
Thanks! You've gotten me into needle felting and now...I have more information before I get my first kit and tools. :>
This video helped me a LOT especially the tip on tiny details!THANX!
Thank you so much for doing this! I poked myself and it bled a bit, so now I'm a lot more cautious.
That one girl who likes food You're welcome! When I first started felting I also poked myself a lot, but I realised that once you get the hang of it, poking happens much less often or stops completely. Your brain quickly learns the correct position of your fingers vs needle and the more you practise, the easier & safer it will become :).
Starting my first felting project!! Thanks so much for making this video!! ❤
Thanks you! I’m a beginner and this is very useful!
Brilliant tutorial. Easy to understand. I will give it a go.
I LOVE needle felting. It's SO MUCH FUN!!!
I love the happy music and the easy tutorial! Thank you!
Love this video because I bought this kit before you made the video and This helped me so much when I watch it ❤️👌
I feel like starting this as a hobby!! Good tip, thank youu
You should definitely try it! I just got a set today from Amazon and I already love it. Rn I'm set to make a graduation mouse for my cousin
Thank you 😊 for sharing
I’m grateful I found your channel !!!
I’m starting with KITS before i try this on my own !!!! 😘 lovely
Hi there! Does the material have to be wool puffs or can it be acrylic puffs? It looks basically the same so I'm wondering if it would work the same.
Yay first!! Luv you Maqaroon! You inspired me to start needle felting and I LOVE it!! Thank you sooo much! 😍😘😀☺️😋😇👍👍👍🏼✌🏼
g Yay you were first!! So happy you like my videos and thank you very much for supporting the channel ^___^
I love your tips! I have no idea where to buy this kind of wool from. Do you mind sharing where you bought this kind of wool?
I've been watching Maqaroon for a while now mainly for squishies and stuff but recently I've stumbled upon needle felting and have declared that i would start doing it.
this was very useful but when u make little felting details how do u keep it from sticking onto the melamine foam (my foam board is melamine foam).
FluffyPupsTV That's unfortunately an issue which is hard to get rid of completely. I've tried so many different felting mats to see if it's makes a difference but the wool always tends to get pushed inside. The only solution is to keep turning the piece back and forth so it doesn't get stuck too firmly into the mat.
thank you so much for this 😘 i want to begin felting and this vid was brilliant 🐰
Can I use normal felting needles e.g from Daiso, in the 3 needle clover pen? Thanks, I love your videos
