I just love Loipa Araujo (the teacher). I get to work with her at English National Ballet and she is so delightful! As you can imagine, she has an aura about her, years of knowledge and experience, very much ballet royalty, and she doesn't waste her words with small talk. She is respectful, and giving of her time and knowledge, insanely musical and technical, and her brain is so sharp you won't believe. She speaks in five and half languages (her words not mine), and corrects the dancers in their month tongue if she can, and communicates in English to the pianist! Hearing her in this video singing the same tunes she does today is just wonderful and she can very witty as well. What a living legend!
I think I saw Carlos Acosta. I also see Viengsay Valdés.

What a joyous experience it has been for me to see el Ballet Nacional de Cuba throughout the years thru these videos ...I was part of the Ballet Alicia Alonso (later BNC) but for political reasons fled early 1960. It was always magnificent in every way and our dreams for our Company have reached beyond all our expectations. Bravo for the Alonso's , Bravo for my my beloved classmates and Bravo to the exquisite Dancers that have bared the Fruits of this superb Ballet School . Their dedication, love, and God Given Talents have enriched Ballet to unlimited dimensions! You make us proud! Alleluia Alleluia .

Pues si, somos diferentes....cada País son muchas provincias, aún siendo pequeños, tenemos acentos parecidos no iguales....pues así, imaginaos lo q sucede en nuestro mundo actual,,,, no olvidar. Un Do es do...sea bemol sostenido o natural...pues así suenan diferentes... en la Danza académica lo bien hecho es EXCELENCIA INTERNACIONAL PROFESIONAL...ah..y la indispensable. PERSONALIDAD del ARTISTA!!!!
This is an amazing video and I think is great all the explanation about WHY is important keeping eye on the details like the head position. In this case we can note that the explanation was recorded later and I think it's an excellent idea for all the audience to know how and why some movements have certain procedure.

Son realmente impresionantes. Hay algo especial de su formación para que aprendan a girar así ? Algún ejercicio típico que realizan mucho ? Pareciera que todos allá pueden hacer más de 3 piruetas con mucha facilidad. Si tenes algún material al respecto o simplemente podes comentarme te lo agradecería mucho !

Must have been a while ago if Lorna is there, because she relocated to Boston some years back.
And her husband Nelson, and Acosta and others have also flown the nest.
The teacher is Loipa Araujo. She is one of the best teachers in the world and is currently a ballet mistress with English National Ballet.
