This week:
The last 3 years have been a flurry of activity in the world of Ingress, with the birth of new communities, new friendships, remarkable acts of creativity and epic adventures on foot with others.
At a press conference in Japan, Niantic's CEO, along with gaming giants Mr. Ishihara of The Pokemon Company, Mr. Masuda of Game Freak and Mr. Miyamoto of Nintendo, announced the beginning of a bold new adventure: Pokemon GO, which will emerge in 2016. A closed beta will take place this winter.
Meanwhile, new details have emerged about the #Abaddon Anomaly series, which will take place on October 10th and 24th, as well as November 14th and December 12th. (See detailed listing below). After failing to activate a 13MAGNUS Nest in Afghanistan, Jahan caused an XM event that echoed across the globe, causing every known Niantic Project researcher to disappear. Their fates lie at the heart of the #Abaddon Anomalies.
Agents around the world continue to impress and inspire with their incredible operations. Sitreps from Utah, India, Uruguay, Japan, Indiana, Virginia, Ukraine, Italy, Sri Lanka and Ireland are featured.
Behind the Scanner, the Agent-run and Agent-focused TH-cam show has launched a Chinese version of the show, and Andrew Krug, a host of Behind the Scanner, has released a new video that attempts to cover the events of the nearly 3-year long Niantic Investigation.

I would imagine that this will not be just a free app. There would have to be some sort of purchase in somehow, since Nintendo is involved. The full trailer clip hints at a small device you have to carry with you.

So, is the SF bay Area city going to be revealed or held till the last second?
Event that will have something to Bangkok for me to come to me, I feel really excited. Here in Thailand as people who wait for this game is it's like a dream come true dream that I want to hang around in the Pokémon world.
I want to play Ingress but I live on Vancouver island Canada and the nearest portal is lvl 8 108 miles way :/
sorry 108 meters but that is the only portal w/ out a hour drive which I can't really make w/ out a car 2 bad.

So, is anyone finding any new agents from the cool Pokemon Go Trailer?
I happen to be one of them, I usually go for the underdog, The Worldwide edge the Resistance has against the Enlightened is hardly covering any of Colorado.
So Colorado is gonna get a new Ressistance Agent! Play, I wanna role-play Pokemon Go stuff, so I am gonna avoid all worldwide evil mind control agency stuffs.
Don't care if its some green Froggy Enlightened, or nasty Team Rocket/Galaxy/Plasma/etc. members.
Figured I'd go for Enlightened. Then wear my Team Rocket shirt when hitting portals. Vegas was ran by the mob anyways; time to take it back! XD
