We visited the town of Hakone, about 30 minutes by Shinkansen from Tokyo Station. After using AirBNBs for many years in Tokyo, we stayed in a hotel, Hotel Indigo. In the hotel room was a onsen with river views. The food was excellent too!
We went to the Hakone Open-Air Museum on a beautiful summer day, very nice collection and had the Picasso Pavilion. We tried to see Mt. Fuji at Owakudani but it was too cloudy.
