  • Station 6 low house is one of the two most difficult shots on a skeet field, so David Stewart (ShotKam inventor - super cool facts about him below 👇🧐) presents tips on how to avoid becoming muzzle aware.
    Fun fact: David began his engineering career by developing the laser crosshair system that was used in General Schwarzkopt's CNN presentation seen here to blow up a bridge: • Luckiest Man in Iraq(P... . In 2009, he patented the laser alignment system in the ShotKam.
    ShotKam Gen 3 is a waterproof, lightweight, and durable video camera that mounts to your barrel. Designed as a training tool, the movements of your gun are revealed by the crosshair in the video (X in the middle).

    Have to say, outstanding graphics in an easy to understand format. The shotcam helps knit it all together and the explanation during the demo is outstanding. Well done guys thank you a big help.

    Love these videos! Just started shooting skeet last week with my 20 gauge mossberg 500. I had never shot a shotgun before this, and I had purchased the 20 gauge to learn on. I hit about 5 my first round and about 15 my second round. I went back today with an IC in instead of the modified choke and did a little better. I still hit about 15 clays (I need someone to count for me because I get too in the moment lol) both rounds. However, this time I only chipped maybe 2 overall. All the others I was dead on. I learned from my grandfather I was missing behind on the shots that I missed. I really just need to get the feel for swinging through after I shoot. It just seems if I think about it while I'm up there I'll miss, but if I just let it come naturally I do very well. I'm going to try a 12 gauge wingmaster my dad gave me next time. After I get a little time in, I plan on purchasing a Franchi Affinity 12 gauge 28 inch barrel

    In skeet doubles both targets cross the center point at the same time. You should break the first target before it reaches the center point.

    If you break the low house bird at the center stake on the pair, the high house bird is also at the center stake. You need to break the low house about 2/3 of the way to the center stake (about 20’ short of it) or you’ll never get the second bird.

    For beginner shooters holding the gun at right angles to the target for station 6 ( or bringing the gun too far back to the low house ) is not a good idea as the target will get in front of the barrel most times. Then the shooter has to move the gun faster than the target to get the barrel past the bird which is not sustained lead...better to hold the gun further out, NOT TOO MUCH MORE, and focus the eyes back towards the trap a little and this will keep the barrel in front of the bird at all times...the target will seem slower and less angle by the time it is shot so makes for less movement of the barrel so less chance for error..

    For the doubles, how would taking the high first, where the pattern would be larger at that distance?

    • @jgalliher9
      @jgalliher9 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fred Rules require that you shoot the low house first on the Paarl.

      This is awesome! Thank you so much for your feedback. Station 7 will be released tomorrow (Thursday), so hopefully that video will help too (unless you already run the station). Station 7 low house is pretty simple, but I really like the technique that we'll describe. It's similar to the Station 1 high house with verrrrrry little gun movement. Thanks again!

    So the Shotkam doesn't stop recording with the recoil? I am asking because of the doubles in skeet. How does that work? I bought one and tomorrow will be my first day using it.

    • @Shotkam
      @Shotkam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carl, thanks for your recent order! The ShotKam saves any two shots that are taken within 5 seconds of each other onto the same video. All true and report pairs are saved on the same video.
      If interested, here's what it technically is doing:
      It has a memory buffer (known as RAM- Random Access Memory) that is filtering video anytime the ShotKam is ON. Once it feels a recoil, the processor takes times out of the RAM, then stitches it together with live video. It then continues recording until a few seconds after the last recoil, then slows that section of video down into one-third speed and saves it onto the memory.
      For the user, it means you don't need to worry about turning the camera ON/OFF. The (patented) technology knows to save each recoil :) Hope this help!

    Older shooters will need to have old points and some look points further out than you suggest here. Wait until you get to 70+. :)

      Zander is the shooter in these videos (David's 18-yr old son), and you are exactly right about adjusting depending on reaction time. Zander can shoot the clays before we even see them! What is your average score?

    Gun hold on low six is too far back that clay will get away from you try bringing it out another 4ft......

  • @guybowman2543

    Feet on six low I go on the top right corner because you only shoot the left wing off

    • @Shotkam

      First rule of shooting: Stick with whatever technique is working for you. Or as they say, "Don't fix what ain't broke." So if that setup is working, then that is awesome for people to hear too.

    I am not knowledgeable in this area, but that guy's foot placement bothers me. Feet seem too close together for good body rotation

    • @Shotkam
      @Shotkam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a good comment because it does feel a little awkward to stand that way at first. It's a good stance, however, because it forces you to keep an even weight distribution. A wider (perhaps more common "athletic stance") forces too much weight onto the front foot 👣. Hope this helps :).

    • @erikwilson7622
      @erikwilson7622 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      learn to shoot upright as in the video is key. You see lots of, what I call, aggressive stances, feet wide apart, physical, crouched, and really into the gun. Problem is, this is tiring, and after several rounds you start breaking down and wonder why you are missing the target. Upright, feet closer together, actually gets you moving sideways faster and more fluid.
