In regards to the first dealer. Never quite understand why people set up at shows and price things well over comps and refuse to budge. No one will buy when you can just head onto eBay and pay 20/30% less
They are hoping for a sucker to come along
That is infuriating. There’s this one dealer who happens to have a lot PC stuff I’m looking for that prices everything at 300% plus markup, just hoping for a sucker. Like dude, I’m the biggest collector of this one particular player, making the rainbows for EVERYTHING. If I’m not willing to buy it, nobody in the world is. This player would have to have Mike Trout production for the next 15 years for those cards to have anywhere near their listing price.
being a mall show there is a lot of foot traffic in there that normally wouldn't go to a show. So, I bet the thought process is to have a mall shopper stop and look and see a card of let's say Joe Burrow, but it's a leaf card from 2020 and not worth more than a $1, but the seller has $25 on it and then Grandma buys it for little Johnny because she knows he likes Joe Burrow. Mall shows are a joke.

I mean the problem is , going to a show , trying to buy from “dealers” when you’re essentially a “dealer” yourself , trying to buy cards at a show , to make a buck on. If you wanna buy at 70% set up at the show. And buy stuff people bring up to you. Easy as that. A lot of dealers aren’t there to make customers money lol. I can see if they’re charging over comps. But again. They aren’t there to make you money lol
IMO, Fields has a much better opportunity in the long run with Pittsburgh than with Chicago. Chicago is taking Caleb Williams. That hasn't been a secret. Would you rather be competing w/the #1 overall pick, or backing up a 35 (36 in November) year old washed up starter? I love Russ, but his Elite days are behind him. Fields could easily be the starter if Russ has some hiccups or gets hurt. You never turned the card over, is it #'d?

Doesn’t look good. He won’t start unless it’s an emergency in 24. Steelers incentivized to keep fields on bench fields cause of the conditional pick. And Wilson is a HOF QB who missed a couple starts in his whole career, he never gets hurt and will play injured.
There’s a chance fields will never be an nfl starter again. He’s never going to get chances like the bears gave him.

Yeah the Bears really screwed the pooch with Fields. I would think someone would have taken him as a starter. I mean the guy broke Lamar Jackson's rushing record in his first or second year. Plus his arm is a Cannon. Russell probably wont last but a couple of games before they put Fields in lol.
If u think bears messed up, what about the 30 other teams that could have got him for a 5th round pick?
Bears lucky to get anything for him cause they would eventually have to cut him.
And fields broke the QB rushing record yea, but bears were worst team in nfl. A lot of them came in garbage time vs prevent defenses. Fields would take off and run in must situations.

Sadly Fields is going to be a decent journeyman quarterback . Have some starts occasionally, maybe a full season or two here or there . But I would price him accordingly like an Andy Daulton so don’t get stuck with his high end cards
Yeah I wouldn’t even buy Stroud because Ohio State quarterbacks are never good in the NFL. Fields has talent but not NFL level.
Been a while since I have seen one of your videos pop up, but I like your content because you seem active in the hobby and you seem to know your stuff, which I respect. However, several things about this video are exactly what's wrong with the hobby. First the "plan for the day" is exactly what everyone is trying to do, but cheap raw, grade, and resell for more. Where are the true collectors? 2) As a show dealer myself, that is what a dealer is doing, going back to when I was a kid. Make money buy buying and selling. When everyone coming to the show is trying to do the same, it doesn't work. 3) Dealers have to get a good price in order to resell, so if we pay 70% and have to get close to comps to make a profit, but then the flippers want to pay 70% so they can make money, the ecosystem can't exist and the hobby won't last. Unless we have collectors out there, or flippers are willing to pay closer to comps, there will be no dealers to buy from at shows. 4) My question is, what is wrong with "flippers" buying raw at comps and grading and them making their money on that end? They expect to get the dealers profit plus their money on the back end too. 5) We need more true collectors back. Everyone thinks they are a dealer or flipper, and to be honest, a lot of people suck at it. But pretty soon, there will be no one to buy anyone's cards.
Definitely don’t buy anything Bedard, especially a bonus pack die cut like that. There are tons of them out there and it will settle at about $15 because I have never seen one of those SP die cuts ever go for more than a few bucks even for guys like Makar.

Good video how do I find out about different shows in Cincinnati, Columbus and ky. I'm new to this but I love how far the card game has come from when I was a kid.
I personally would have not bought that Fields, even before the trade.
It seems like the only people that can’t see not to buy Fields haven’t been watching him for the last two years or have way too much invested in him.
I hate this idea that dealers HAVE to sell to leave you room to make money at cards
What about the idea of trying to sell above comps and leaving the show with the exact amount of cards you started with because no one wants to pay more than they’re worth? I hate that idea.
Their cards, they can price them at whatever price they want
@@markshew3796 yeah sure but if you’re set up at a show to SELL cards it’s probably not the best strategy to price them well over comps
I mean if they don’t want to sell them why even be at the show? Especially if they’re pricing over sold eBay listings. At the very least they could do $5-$20 of a certain card and still make money.

When you send the Fields card in to get graded will you leave it in the sealed panini case or take it out and put it in a card saver holder?
I believe u have to send them in card savers I could be wrong tho

You missed half the show. The month before it was like 150 tables. This show had over 190. The show was split in two sections due to the Easter Bunny in center court. Obviously concerning for the dealers if you were on the other section that you didn't even find. So if you would have gone left from center court, past the Pretzel store and their seating, there was another 70-80 tables straight down and hooking down another section of the mall. Hope to see you again.
People always hope off centered cards can get a 10. And they rarely rarely ever do. Better chance at an 8 than a 10

Especially with how strict PSA has become recently.
60/40 centering can still gem at p. s.a . I always send to sgc because I can't wait thr month or 2 but I know p.s.a is better but they own sgc now
@@chadcory9690 better? By better you mean people make more money for them? SGC is by far the better product. I personally like SGC case better but that's subjective. The grade of SGC is the best most consistent of all the grading companies. I have seen a psa 8 get re-submitted and come back a 10 as well as sgc 10's go to psa and come back 9s or lower I have seen SGC 8s come back psa 10. Point is PSA is so inconsistent and that's not good for a grading company. But until people stop caring about the label it won't matter. And psa knows that.

Nice video man. I normally just ask the dealers if I can pull the card out of the top loader to take a look at the surface. I don’t mind paying a little over comp if the card looks gem. Most people don’t mind.
I actually find it quite upsetting when dealers/sellers are asking way too high of prices on their cards when you can just buy same card on ebay for less. Their job is to move product as fast as possible. Price the cards fair, expect to be haggled and be ready to do deals that may not always go the way you think. Overall, more times than not, they are still making profits on every thing. I can't stand greed and i see it as their way of trying to take advantage of people who may not be as up to speed on looking at comps. I just made a purchase on eBay today where the card i wanted was listed for $250 OBO. I offered $165, countered with $200. I then wrote a message to the seller saying this exact card (different serial number) just sold at auction for $168, so $170 best i could do and its a PC card for me. Plus this seller was free shipping and the auction card was $10 shipping. He wrote back saying he'll take $170. Perfect transaction and he'll get 5 star feedback.

I would grade the JF and hold for the season. I picked up a rookie Kaboom myself on Saturday before the trade was completed myself, my plan is to grade and hold because I believe in him and his long term future with a stable franchise like Pittsburgh.
I think the steelers picked up wilson and fields so fields can learn something from wilson since fields really hasnt had a mentor and they play similar. Then i think since they got wilson for 1.2 mill this year, they lwt him walk next year and hopefully fields has taken a big enough step and the steelers have time to build around him. Tomlin is a good coach and they got that arthur ex falcons head coach who is good a run based offense as their O.C so you are probably safe.
As a Steeler fan I'm fixing to go hard into Justin Fields Rookie Cards ESPECIALLY since he has agreed to be the Backup for a year behind Russ to learn

Haha not asking prices just saying other things like hey you have some nice cards if I buy x y x a few would you be able to to do a package deal? You’d be surprised how well using just other phrases works. But keep up the good work frank your channel is great.
Have no problem with a buyer asking if I have room. My favorite is when you have say $600 on a card and they ask “ What is the best you can do on it?” My response is what is the most you will pay on it? If I list a price and you ask my best you are being lazy or figure people are dumb and don’t know how to negotiate. Why make my price lower with no negotiations what so ever.
How do these dudes get full cases of retail boxes? I feel like the only way to consistently get them is a shady way. That first guy with all the boxes is typical small card show guy. They over price their stuff and never come down.
Get that Fields card graded if it looks good. Hold on to it. I think you're right; he'll end up starting again somewhere. He's going to learn a lot from Russell, and he'll most likely take over as the starter as early as next year.
Poor Kenny Pickett I live in Tacoma South of Seattle and have been getting tons of russ cards for dirt cheap i hope he turns it around im pitt as much as it hurts..,cards I never thought i could afford or ever get arw everywhere now so i hope russ is solid man..,no offense to u and ur Fields
Prices are going up! Like you, I've been buying and selling a bit, and the market (baseball & basketball for me) has definitely risen. Keep up the good times and have fun out there!

I agree with you bout Fields. The Bears get it wrong all the time though. You trading a first pick QB that seemed to be getting it at the end of the year for another first pick QB that has very little help. Get Fields some REAL LEGITIMATE weapons and an O Line and I think he’s a star!! Just my opinion, but he was looking confident at the end of last year
In my experience mall shows are never that good. Typically a ton of overpriced junk wax era stuff or ultra modern

My local shop gives me shit for grading with a company thats not psa meanwhile they spent tens of thousands of dollars on trey lance zach wilson and JF1

You mean the guy that won’t do anything for workouts, wears lip gloss and has his nails painted like the diva he is. Plus pretty much gave up once USC was out of the title hunt. Williams will be lucky to get to year 4.

The guy you tried to buy the 2 Strouds Ar and Bedard from is over comps on everything. I offered him $40 for the 2 Strouds which is over comps and he said no he could only do $45 lol and that's why he didn't sell anything

Yes you made a mistake on fields being a flipper buyer. Imagine the people tho who loved the entire 2021 class as fsns those teams. Bears Jets Niners and Patriots collectors are feeling it a lot harder than TH-cam influencer flippers. I know a buddy. Huge patriots fan who bought over $90,000 worth of Mac Jones. How do you think that buddy feels after the free agency period.

Nah dude, sell off immediately. Cut your losses and move on, that cards going to be worthless within a year or two. Fields is garbage and Pittsburgh has a future HOF qb starting…he’s not taking that starting job
Plus even if Fields starts it’s not like the Steelers have that many offensive weapons. The Defense is the only thing that keeps them in games.
