The USMNT has a lot of talent compared to years past in which they have gone deeper in the tournament, but they are still probably not in the top 10 teams in the world in regards to the strength of their starting XI or their bench depth. Having a manager who can provide a positive identity and structure is crucial to getting the most out of what is available, and I hope Potch can rekindle some of that Tottenham punching-above-their-weight magic he had in 2019. Last night against CR they looked better without a lot of their star players than they have looked with them in ages, so that's a positive sign. Under the new expanded tournament if they can't at least make it to knockouts it has to be seen as an utter failure. After that it's all down to the luck of the draw, but there is enough talent there to expect them in R16, barring some horrible luck drawing one of the favorites in the first KO round.
A round of 16 isn’t successful, the team needs to aim higher especially because it’s at home Quarter final and beyond or bust ! Also your not top 10 team applies to so many teams and nobody is saying the USA are a top 10 team , at least not yet
I was delighted w the game v Costa Rica last night. Strung together some nice passing, game was fun to watch versus the sometimes exasperating experience of USMNT viewing. Thoroughly enjoyed the pace.
We have the players to get past the round of 8. Talent only takes you so far. Skill, experience, determination, heart and courage can get our team to the finals. No world cup winner has ever had 5star players at each position. But they all had the TEAM mentality and determination to win it. There are going to be some talented players left off the upcoming rosters due to their lack of effort, passion and heart. Intangibles will come into play.
What a good laugh. I was working in the room next to the US men's dressing room when they lost 2-0 to Canada in Hamilton, ON. We could hear them clearly through a metal roll-up door. Listening to all the false bravado they were spouting before taking the field was amusing. Listening to the chorus of WTF!s after the game was hysterical. Pulisic got bullied off the pitch by Canada's Alastair Johnston. He doesn't have the grit and will to show up in big games. Canada will go further in this tournament than the Yanks.
Regarding the last question asked by the lady: 1) Showing the World what America is, 2) Uniting Americans (common desire to see our national team win) despite the political climate.
Physical? It’s the flops that make soccer tough to appreciate. I love the film from old firm games where it was truly gritty and tough. Injuries were never in question

The way the whole room just laughed at the mention of Gregg Berhlater

All this team needs is grit. You saw it in the WC vs Netherlands, as soon as a good team scores first, we hang our heads and give up

Diego Luna 💪
With a coach that actually understands how to get the best out of their players, we can go far!

Way too early prediction: USA wins the match for 3rd place. Against Mexico.
Let’s wait for the official groups to be announced first
