    THISS!!!
I kinda wish ppl saw how important this topic was instaad of just being like "oh why is the pjsk fandom so focused on her gender blahblahblah" because like, as a trans person myself who isn’t even out yet as i just realized it(esp in this political climate), I do like Mizuki for their character and storyline and how she never felt like she could get emotionally close to anyone again - but their gender is ALSO a part of why she feels that way because of how she was bullied for it and stuff
And yes I know both crossdressers and trans ppl could relate to her story. But two lines in Mizu5 confirm that she is canonically transfem I think - the "so youre a guy too" and the "normal girl" comment. Because that shows Mizuki does identify as fem in some way but they dont accept her as a "normal" girl because shes amab and theyre jerks.
Also I saw in a comment section where there was some Mizuki discourse that crossdressers actually *aren’t* that welcome/accepted in Japan, but still, my point about the Mizu5 lines still stands with the combo of the "guy" and "normal girl" comments.
    Tysm for this vid btw!!!
Was getting really sick of stuff happening lately oof

@src147 so true about not making a part of Mizuki to be a taboo. Saying things like "Mizuki is not about gender at all" is only worsening the issue. Since if she wasn't, no one would have ever know what's wrong going on around her. I used to say these things too, because I was afraid to confront people on this topic. But when I realized my own position, I thought that if Mizuki were my friend, I would definitely want to defend her about that, since dressing cute is a part of her and she is getting misgendered because of that. This does matter, just like her cheerful persona and fragile character. It all matters, every each part of her. And these parts cannot be disconnected just by "Mizuki is not... *etc*". I mean, that's what people say and niigo does too. But they know Mizuki personally and that's how they genuinely feel. They say so, because they already DO accept her identity. In our world yet, people would say "Mizuki is Mizuki" only to avoid conflict or serious talks/acknowledging Mizuki the same way niigo do. As for me, I only ever heard my mom say "You are you and this is what matters". Word in word. Other close people who cared for me told me "Just stay yourself, I love you the way you are". They said it because they indeed accepted my personal situation and feelings, not just to brush it off like proseka fandom does when it comes to Mizuki. She needs real acknowledgement, not a phantom one

Even if you think it's not a big deal, it's not just being disrespectful to the character. It's being disrespectful towards transgenders, as you're calling Mizuki the wrong pronouns instead of what they're comfortable with. It's like calling someone the other gender when they're clearly not, or if they're trans.

I'm worried I'll get attacked for this, but I am personally sticking to calling Mizuki they/them. Not because I think Mizuki is nonbinary, but because Mizuki themself has not clarified to US whether or not they are a guy or transfem. It just doesn't seem right for us to assume anything either way. When they cut off Mizuki's reveal to Nightcord in Kanade's side story, it was because it was for Niigo and Niigo alone, not for us. So I will continue to refer to Mizuki neutrally until they reveal it to us, regardless of whether it ever happens or not. And we really don't NEED to know, because we should love Mizuki regardless of what they see themself as, whether that be a girl, a boy, or neither.

@snicksss I was shocked after realizing we wouldn't know it directly, still. Partly I needed that to make the transphobic part of the fandom to acknowledge Mizuki for who she is (I hope it's not bad if I use these pronouns here).
When that didn't happen I thought, "Oh!". I was disappointed but then I also thought "perhaps this was only the matter of niigo and actually it IS their business, not ours. We are looking from the outside. But only members of niigo are allowed to know full details". For us, fans, it's still a secret...
And yet, my perception of Mizuki never changed - same is for niigo!!
I also watched a couple of long reviews (1 and 4 hours) and what I can say.. Sega is majorly supporting LGBTQ community ever since. There are also many Sonic reviews contemplating about who might have this or other sexuality.. lol.. but anyway, in fact they held many lgbt friendly events in Japan and exposed the community to higher scale, which is very accepting for the Japanese. Yknow, in Japan sexuality is sticking to old patriarchic version, at least the one after the western world invaded Japan in 19th century. Before that, ever since the 8th century, for men there existed an elite culture. Basically men were gay and it was normal. For lesbians it was hard since women were uneducated and considered "the lower class of people that is just silly and copying our elite culture". Therefore lesbians were unrecognized even though they may have existed the same way. That all is partly a reason for me to be openly direct of my position of calling Mizuki a girl. But I sometimes use they/them as an old habit so it's totally okay!! No one would consider you a villain (..rreference) as long as noone misgenders Mizuki as a "boy" X))

    • @snicksss
      @snicksss 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

@ I won’t disregard your personal opinion, but it seems weird to say Mizuki being referred to as a boy is factually wrong. We really don’t know how Mizuki feels they are, which is why I am referring to Mizuki in a neutral way. If Mizuki identifies as a boy and simply prefers cute clothing, that is fine. If Mizuki identifies as a girl, that’s fine too. And if Mizuki is nonbinary, that is also fine. Again, whatever Mizuki is, if the time ever comes that they reveal it to us, we should accept it no matter what, because Mizuki is Mizuki and nothing will change that. Sorry if this feels like I’m imposing my opinion onto you!

I had an argument with someone from Kazakhstan over mizuki (he started it) and he said that if it was American mizuki would be trans because america is gay but it’s in japan and japan is homophobic so she’s a boy and then later sent me death threats.
More detail: he was the one being mean and told me to grow up because wearing skirts and having long hair doesn’t make you a girl (I know. He wasn’t saying attention to any of my arguments and was being stubborn :C) then said that I was being rude ti him and betrayed him bc he trusted me or something idk and told me to lock my doors and I said “WHAT THE FUCK??? YOUR THREATEMTING TO FIND ME OVER A STUPID ARGUMENT???” He also threatened to do things worse then murder to me and later when he apologized (I don’t even know why I forgave him, I was so paranoid the whole day) he said he was just overwhelmed- also sometime before this, because I am nonbinary and just relate to mizuki in general, I used personal experiences and stuff and he said something like “nobody cares about you we’re talking about mizuki” then later said he understands mizuki the best because he relates to her but was also saying that she felt like she had to run away for no reason
(I blocked him later bc if other bad stuff he did)
      Sorry for kinda venting

Imo, in the end of the day nothing was confirmed, so people can still have their own interpretation of the story. Vilifying people with different opinions is toxic, same as calling your favorite ship canon unironically.
And don't forget that Mizuki is a fictional character, so don't attack real people cause of disagreement.
I personally consider Mizuki trans, but it wouldn't surprise nor upset me if she ended up being a crossdresser. Both interpretations are valid and don't lessen her character, imo.

True, but lets not harass people just a reminder, mizuki is good representation for trans people AND crossdressers who have felt they had to change their indentity to not be judged, Mizuki overall is a great character who is relatable to many fans,
Also lets remember that mizuki is a fictional character and not real. If you are genuinely hurt by people not referring to her by her pronouns then you need to step back, its not healthy to be that attached to a fictional character and its the reason why so much of the community is toxic.
