Cody your a natural crocheter, it’s in your DNA. I think you did an awesome job with doing all those new stitches and patterns. And your quick, I bet you could finish a blanket in no time. 👏
Thank you for all your hard work! You must be so proud of your grandson!!! 😊
Cody's stitches look very even(conformable) good job.
Cody, you did an awesome job on the samples! I love that you're spending time with your Grandma & appreciating her craft and helping her❤ Way. To. Go.
Love, love, love Cody being on with you!
About 50 years ago I crocheted a sweater for my daughter. No teacher. Learned from a tiny book I found. So happy to now find these wonderful teachers on TH-cam. I’ve started again. Lucky Cody to have you and he looks like he’s a good student and wonderful grandson. Getting back to the sweater I made for my daughter, I can relate to Cody as I did the whole thing in single crochet. It was so tight it was almost like cardboard. She could barely bend her arms. No wonder I gave up. Unfortunately I had no one encourage me to go on.
👋 Glenda and Cody! You both did a great job! 👍 After 40plus years, I still have to use one size larger hook for my projects. Our hands are all different, so will be our methods...Cody, try not to compare yourself with folks that have been crocheting ALOT longer than you. You will improve with practice... 😉
Loved the Mary Maxim Prism. Thanks for sharing. You did a great job, Cody.
Hi Cody and Glenda. Cody I love to hear about your crochet adventures. You are doing a great job
Amazing more men are learning to crochet (knit). Dang, now more competition when buying the yarn, hahaha!! I thought Cody's stitches look very uniform for a beginner. Like Glenda, I've been crocheting for over 55 years, yikes, I had to think about that #, how can that be??? lol Like we all had to do, just keep practicing and practicing and before you know it, you will be a pro!
Cody, so nice you have an interest in your grandma's hobby. I learned to crochet when I was 7 years old from an elderly woman who was a friend of the family. Though I only did chains at the tender age of 7, it set a foundation that 45 years later rekindled itself into.a full blown obsession. My mother and sister both crochet and I guess it runs in the family, though their seemingly is a stigma attached for men who crochet. I started back up after almost dying from covid and needing something to give my idle time purpose. Your grandmother must be so proud of you! Keep up the good work and know that there are some of us that really appreciate and can relate to other men that crochet. I recently won first and second place awards at our county fair for blankets I made and know that there is real pride in our shared hobby.
Keep up the good work Cody. Great job.
Cody is doing great . So happy he is learning
That sunset colorway is outstanding.
Cody did a great job. Pretty yarn.
Great job, Cody! I enjoy when you’re on the videos. It’s a different perspective from ‘Grandma’ who is a great teacher! I’ve learned a lot as a beginner. Thank you, both!
I love the brown/blue/cream yarn.
Can’t wait for simple blanket projects
Great job Cody!!! I love the very first one now I look on your Playlist for that. Thank you Glenda and Cody for taking to share us until next time bye
Way to go Cody! Actually I love the rainbow one as well.
Great job Cody. Keep on crocheting
Cody did an amazing job! I am teaching a coworker, and I totally forgot how hard it was just to get things straight, and even tension and how to "hold" everything. I commend him and his beautiful work! Loved the Surfside color way as well as Rainshower, and Sunset!!
Thank you Glenda - the yarns are gorgeous. Cory it brings back memories what you said about crocheting but your swatches were great
Awesome crocheting, Cody!
I love the sunset, Fall colors are my favorite color. I didn't like the same one you didn't either. I love when you do these video's it's nice to see them worked up. Cody I had the same problem with the tension, takes time and patience. Most important thing. I think that you did a great job on these yarn stitches.
You two are so kind- sending love and blessings. Thanks for the info
Great samples Cody ,you and Glenda make a perfect team
All the yarns you picked were gorgeous! Cody you did a great job on those swatches! You’re not the only one that takes out the beginning stitches to change hook sizes 😊! I have yarns or colors that just don’t work for the pattern I have picked out, so I rip the rows out and find a different pattern 😊! Thanks Glenda and Cody for sharing the colors and swatches! I appreciate the work you put in to show us👍🏻😁💕!
Great job Cody if you don’t try you won’t be able to learn at least you have a wonderful teacher
Hello Cody and Glenda. I wanted to share a tip with you for beginning crocheters. Many crochet hooks have a slant near the hook or throat. When you are crocheting, make sure your loops are past that slant up onto the shaft of the crochet hook. It slows you down a lot, but you will not get the gauge if you are on the slanted part of the hook.
Cody you are doing awesome!! Keep up the great work. Glenda my favorite 2 colors are the same as yours and Cody. They are beautiful! This is awesome to see you both working together with your crocheting. Can't wait to see what blankets you both create. 🙏💜🤗🧶
I like the cluster stitch. You did great.
Cody is so good already! Well done.
I like your favorite choices and pattern stitches
I think your yarn swatch videos are among my favorites. I have been thinking about ordering some of this Prism line. This video helps me make my color choices. Love y'all!
Great job Cody 😊
Very anxious for your coming blanket designs!
Cody, you’re awesome! Love seeing a guy crochet and your stitches are quite beautiful.
Hint; slightly uneven borders and starting chains can be remedied by adding a nice border..😁
I’ve only been crocheting for a few years but I can’t get enough of it.
Thanks for the great video! ❤️
No I have never used that yarn before. Thank you so much for sharing
Hi Glenda and Cody. Love this new yarn. Even though Cody is a new crocheted, his stitches are so neat, whether tight or looser. I used to be a tight crocheted too, but after a looong while I finally loosened up, sometimes too loose.
Hi Glenda/Cody. Very nice color swatches. The more you practice, it'll come together. Pretty co?ors.
Love the MM Prism yarn
I think a bigger hook for the starting chain is helpful but overall Cody did a fantastic job as a beginning crocheter
Cody, when I was learning to crochet over 70 years ago (yup, I'm one of the REALLY old ones👵) I was accused of having a "death grip" on my hooks...
and it was quite true! I tried knitting and learned how to relaxed a little but I didn't like knitting very much. I still fought with myself when I crocheted for many years (no one told me to try the bigger hook method and I couldn't figure it out myself!!! Duh! I had to follow what I had been taught.) but I have learned (the hard way) that I must use a bigger hook than what is recommended for whatever I'm making. I still use a bigger hook because I can't stop squeezing the life out of my hooks!!!😂 May I politely and I suggest that you start learning about bigger hooks now and not wait until you are in your 70s like I did! The arthritis in my hands is not horrible anymore🙃 🤫🫢 and I love sitting all day doing nothing but crocheting🎉❤. Bless your Grandma for being there to help you through your "death grip days"🤧😂😂💥💥💥💥💥
I like the stitch on sunset
Love the stitch you used Glenda on the rainbow Prism. Wish you'd remembered its name.
Hopefully one of your followers will recognize the name of the stitch.
I think Cody did a good job
You’re doing a great job, Cody! You have an awesome teacher! 😊 MM Prism yarn is beautiful even if frogging it makes you say some bad words. 😂
He is doing good as a beginner
Rainshower is gorgeous
Tension is an issue for everyone Cody and you will be awesome at this, hang in there
The difference in your cluster stitch is amazing
Tropic might work in a granny square but it is a little too muted colorway for me
Cody i crochet tight as well. 😮
I have been crocheting over 40 years and still have to slap myself for crocheting so tight.
Cody you are doing amazing crocheting. I love the blue and brown one and the fall color one. The pink and green I like...but would be nicer if the color was more vibrant instead of dull. Just my opinion.
Thank you both for another great video. ❤
I have that problem. Try going up a hook size. I also put on relaxing music that I love
Cody, it comes with time. Great job on your samples. Especially the edges looked really straight!! That too can be a challenge! Also, you’re too hard on yourself!!😊
Cody did a good job. I liked the yarn yall didn’t like but all are pretty ❤
I love that he’s learning to crochet and seeing a grandmother teaching her grandson, it just brings back so many memories that I had as a child. Best times spent are with grandparents!
Yes he's doing a great job 😊
Cody, your stitches are wonderful! I found out if I relax and not think so much on my tension and just let it flow it comes out looser. I was doing my foundation chains tight enough to hear and feel a "click" on my hook. Then I backed off enough that my hook barely touched the end of the yarn, then I went a yarn's width away from the end of the hook. It helped. I have a real bad tremor in my right hand so tension was a worry. I finaly quit worring about it.I do have a rare knack of eyeballing things and getting it right. Like horseshoeing. I can pick up a foot and glance at it and put the foot down, go to the anvil and whallah! a few hammer hits here and there and I had a perfectly fitting shoe. So if you can develop a sense of that, it should help you out. I can almost always get the correct amount of things in a box according to weight when I worked in a factory. Weird I know. But I think it helps a lot with crochet tension. Just my 2 cents worth. Everyone is different. Nonetheless, it helped me out and still does. Oh! I love that yarn, too! All I need is more yarn! 😆 psst: dont try to manhandle the yarn. Treat it with a soft and gentle hand kinda like a horse or a woman. ☺ Just some tips from an old trucker broad.
Good job Cody! Glenda, I wish you would have shown the skeins of yarn with the samples.
I have a top made with the Rainbow colorway. 🌈 I love it and it worked up very nicely.
Listening to Cody's experience with the sc, I want to mention what Salena Baca, leader of the American Crochet Association, says in her course on Teaching Crochet. She says the sc is the most difficult for a new crocheter of the ch, sc, hdc and DC stitches. The order in which she teaches a beginner, is the ch stitch, then hdc, dc and lastly the sc. It was interesting to me.
Actually, I like Tropics. Maybe it will look better in a different stitch pattern. The half double crochet stitch is also my favorite. I made a queen-size blanket in only that stitch and it turned out warm and beautiful. The quality of the yarn helps a lot. New learners should start with good quality yarn. It helps to keep the level of frustration low. Cheers!
Cody you are doing great. You might be so tight on the SC because you have been doing so many Amis. Just take your time so you don't tighten up so much. Your stitch definition is really good.
Excellent work Cody ….. what stitch pattern is this please the first pattern thank you
Tropics just is not showing its colors very pale the stitch looks good-I like the half double crochet too!
15:54
DON'T LIKE THE BLUE IN THE BROWN ((SURF SIDE))
that tropics has a "dirty" look to it
Wow Cody. Your cluster stitch was awesome. Well done!!
Thank you for this.. and great job Cody
The Prism colors are very pretty. Cody did a great job with his stitch samples. He’s really getting quite good with his crocheting. He should be very proud of himself.🥰
Hi Cody, the half double crochet is my favorite too! I totally understand the struggle with the starting chain and tight stitches. It's taken me A LOT of practice over the last 10 months to get a feel for yarn tension, but I still struggle sometimes. Your stitches look really good, and you are improving soooo fast! Thank you both for sharing!! You two are so cute 😸 Luv ya!!!!
I am a very tight crocheter and don’t know how to solve the problem i keep trying but I still end up crocheting tight so I have no clue what to do! Lol! Cody is good! Love his work!! Thanks!! ❤❤
Great job Cody. I remember having the same trouble that you are having when I was learning and I am still learning stitches. Glenda is a great teacher and I love to follow along with her making projects.
Cody it looks awesome and the autumn mist color looks awesome!
I THINK CODY DID A WONDERFUL JOB.
I like these vedios very much.😊
Cody! @5:37 I thought that was so gorgeous!!! And your tension is perfect in my opinion. Great job there buddy! THEN @8:00 I went CRAZY!!! That would go perfect with my winter Wool jacket as a scarf!! Those colors......very manly, and beautiful at the same time. Loved that. And I loved the Tropics swatch!!! So Summer Watermelony! lol, and in that stitch.....!! Not really being a 'brown person' that swatch looked JUST like a sandy beach, with a great tide of sea water coming in. These were really beautiful yarns.
Richard
Cool Cody
Way To Go Cody 👏👏👏❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰! His Crocheting looks great to me & I just love You Guy's & seeing Y'all working together is so much fun ❤❤🥰🥰. Thank You so much for sharing Glenda 🌻❤🥰!
Hint Cody...chain initial chains, use the next whole size hook just for the chain. Then go back to the normal hook for the project. ❤❤❤❤
I bet Cody’s stitches are tighter because he’s been doing amigurumi as you need to stitch those tighter. Beautiful stitching though. Has Cody tried a foundation sc, hdc, or dc to start instead of a chain? Or even try working into back side of chain?
I wondered the same thing! I hope that he reads your comment, very helpful.
Cody is doing awesome! I know when I go from amigurumi to regular crochet my single crochet is tighter. I haven't tried the prism yarn, but that blue and brown is gorgeous!! Thanks to both of you!
I don't like chaIns either! Show him the foundation chain!! And going into the back bump or maybe not !! 😲😲😲. I really like the half double he did!
For a first time you are doing great. You have a great teacher. Cherish your learning time. Nice to see grandparents teaching grandchildren. Keep going Cody. Thanks Glenda.
Cody's sample with Rainshower may have been tight, but it really showed how beautiful the yarn work up. The color was gorgeous. Cody, you are doing a wonderful job with this.
The samples look amazing. I’m a new crocheter too and I empathise with Cody and totally agree with him about the tension and the starter chain. It’s really frustrating and it makes you feel you can’t do it, but I’ve done the same as Cody and not given up. The yarns look amazing. Thank you for a great video x
I am just so proud of Cody crocheting he is so talented and don't orry as they say practice makes perfect and Grandma will definitely help with that. Now I had this yarn before and did no like it it was splitty and kept jamming on me. Thanks for sharing keep at it Cody.
Cody you did a great job! I love the yarns! Thank you both for sharing, have a wonderful rest of your week! 🧶🙂😘❤
please find that stitch of the week of that first swatch I love it
I think its the wattle stitch
Love the colorways and thanks Cody for helping out!
Cody did a fabulous job,I have some of this yarn but I haven’t used it yet. I think the surf side and the fall one was my favorite
Cody, you'll learn to loosen up on the hook. I was the same way when I first started 40 plus years ago.
CODY DID GREAT NICE HE CAN SHOP WITH YOU & NOW CROCHET WITH YOU. I LOVE IT WHEN MEN CAN CROCHET, KNIT, NEEDLEPOINT, SEW & OTHER WOMAN CRAFTS
Great job Cody 🎉. I luv the prism yarn.
The "Rainbow" is absolutely beautiful!!
Great video. Cody, you're doing well. Keep trying.
The cluster stitch sample and the colour are both beautiful. Do you have a tutorial for that stitch please 😊
Cody did wonderful I like half double crochet
