    The Strandberg not only is more modern, but sounds more modern as well. The others were more classic tele-ish. None of them sounded bad, just different tools for different sounds.

      I have a strandberg influenced strat kind, fanned fret. I still can recognize strattish features but the sound is more 'metallic': I use normal tuning but my axe has fanned frets, E1 is normal 648 mm ,the rest are longer up to 650 (if I remember well). This and the robust metal bridge (tremolo) can make significant difference in term of sounding I guess

    Would be interesting to hear what the Strandberg would sound with the exact same pickups as the Fender Tele

      Also, I find that pick choice makes a big difference. A 1mm Fender Heavy sounds completely difference from a Dunlop Jazz III or a any pick that is in tha 1.5mm+ range.

      @@Uptown59 Ands what about playing technique. Two players don't sound the same even on the same guitar. That is my biggest concern wrt this comparison.

    I apologize it took forever but came up. I’m a certified Fender tech borrowing my spouses Facebook I love my Fenders but I am currently disabled so there is a reason to get a Strandberg for me and I will most certainly change the pickups if they don’t do it for me thru my amp, but weight wise, fingerboard, and many other things about this excellent axe may help me get back to playing professionally.

    A Player's touch to a guitar is unique, so I don't find this comparison all that accurate. I think all of the guitars heard in this video should've been played by one man. I think the guy on the left should've the one to play them all.

    Loved this video.. the thing is that you watch Kris play and think "WOW - what an awesome player" .. and then look at Guillaume play and think "WOW - what an awesome guitar!" But this is probably my absolute favorite video in your channel (and love Strandberg guitars).

    Headless guitars have a certain sexappeal for me. Fancy small body, no visually distracting headstock while playing, good postion between the legs, better tuningstabillity.
    Only minor thing: they lack just a tiny bit of sustain. Because the weight of the headstock contributes a lot to that. ( do not own one...yet...)

    • @Leo_ofRedKeep
      @Leo_ofRedKeep 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let's be honest here: the Telecaster was clearly superseded by the Strat' a couple of years later and ought to have been archived as a prototype. Hardtail Strat's with two pickups could have taken their spot the same way the Precision Bass morphed from its early Telecaster-inspired shape.
      Strandberg guitars look a lot like innovation for its own sake to me. An Ibanez S is almost as light and I don't see the absence of headstock as a major improvement. It probably makes tuning more cumbersome. What remains is the "interesting" neck shape and I wonder if this is really a good idea or a limitation. Three plane surfaces for the thumb are less flexible than an infinity of them, which is what a normal curved neck offers, so I'll resist the urge to "wow" about that until I get a chance to really try it.

  • @quantenmoi

    I love the Strandberg designs-the shape, multiscale that doesn't fan backwards, neck profile, tremolo, etc. Therefore, I really WANT to love how they sound. Unfortunately, I just don't. They all sound a bit lifeless to my ears. Maybe it's their pickup designs? I don't know. But I'm not going to roll the dice on a $2000 guitar that needs a pickup swap right out of the box.

    My problem with the Strandberg Tele is that it just looks too pretty.
    Tele is sort of supposed to look like a slab of wood with pickups on it that's been carved to sit on your lap anatomically enough. And I must stress the word "enough".
    The Strandberg looks like it was developed by NASA.
    I would definitely love me a headless tele in any case.
    Then again, I'm a dirty jazzer, so I'd stick the Lollar Charlie Christian pickups on it.

    Macmull neck pickup beats f and s in this videos. Seems to me tone and playability don't live together ( to a degree) seems like guitars that are made too playable always feel like they are missing harmonic richness. Def not into the strandberg pickups... huge fan of upper fret access hmmm

    • @FlaxeMusic
      @FlaxeMusic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah. Playability QoL features rarely affect tone. What's goin on mainly here is that the Strandberg is using stainless steel frets (more a longevity upgrade than playability) and an aircraft grade aluminum bridge, ala much lighter, less mass bridge.
      If anything the playability feature most impacting the tone is the fanned frets bringing less twang to the high strings as it's a PRS scale on the high strings and a Fender scale on the bottom. Probably why they notice that "mid range bump" and less of the vintage "sparkle" as it's slightly more slinky on the high strings than a typical tele.

  • @themplar
    @themplar 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Its like you can hear the lack of wooden body with the strandberg if you compear them. Its definitly an interesting new approach to guitars and they are definitly still very good. But the macmull was definitly the nices sounding of them. But it might very well be i'm hyped up due to the reviews of some guys. (not that i will ever buy one)
