Demolishing historic and sentimental structures is never nice, but the best we can do is be respectful and try and save as many significant pieces as we can so the town has something to remember them by. Building aren't meant to last forever and should not be kept up if they endanger peoples lives. From an earthquake prone country (New Zealand), we know this all too well. Good work team.
Apparently a wall collapsed according to the video description. At least they did end up salvaging as much as possible. It’s always a shame to see old buildings demolished with everything left in place.
If you look up the church, the entire wall and most of the trusses collapsed a few days before out of nowhere. They were lucky. Anyone inside would have been killed.

Any reason they could not remove the stained glass windows before the demolition began? Was the building too unstable?
