She married their guitar player, Mack Watkins. They've been married about 30 years. I used to play bass for the Kendalls and I toured with Jeannie when she did her first solo album, and still occasionally play with her when she needs me. They are wonderful people.
I've heard many renditions of this, one of my favorite country tunes, and I believe it is the best version, even better than Merle Haggard''s and George Jones' duet. The White's do a hell of a job too, but this one is spot on.
I can't hold you close... cuz you're not with me... I can sure relate to these lyrics... I wish that drugs were not ever discovered... I once told my husband that if he was ever addicted, I could not stand behind him... Oh how sad how those words came true!

I agree totally. I sang Barbershop for many years, and the 7ths were the sweetest sound this side of the river! The transition from the 1 to 4 chord is the natural place for a 7th.
The 1930's to 1960's were loaded with great songs & musicians. Love dominated. Great dance bands. So many singing groups. Now it's mostly screamers & screeching. The dancers improved, but most singers can't modulate. It's sad to have seen all that talent die. Grateful for audio recordings, but video is lacking.
