Getting to the Bottom of the Ghirardelli Crisis! | Movie Night & Disappointment at Disney Springs

- Injury update! We have doctor's orders for Peter: rest, ice, elevate, and anti-inflammatory. But we also must not let it stiff up, so we head to Disney Springs. We decide to see "Bohemian Rhapsody" at Disney Springs AMC Theatre. There Peter can continue to relax and ice his Achilles, but also get out of the house. We really enjoyed the movie and give a quick review of it... But! Before heading home, we had to investigate the Ghirardelli matter at hand for ourselves. There hadn't been free samples there in a while, and we had heard that they did away with them all together. Sarah leaves Peter behind to ask, and the rumors are true. No more free samples!

Keep resting the Achilles it’s no joke. My dad tore his and the surgery and recovery time is horrible! Also RIP samples it’s such a sad sad day.

We really enjoyed the movie. I always do research after seeing the movie and I see why some people are on the fence after hearing about the director drama and even the storyline vs. the history. Overall, the music, character development, and costumes had us hooked.

I remember watching Live Aid way back when (yes, I’m that old). The movie so accurately recreated that that it was like living it all over again.

With all the ways Disney makes money, you would think that giving away a piece of chocolate to their guest would be something that they wouldn’t mind doing. But, that’s Disney for you.
Unfortunately it isn't Disney's call. Ghirardelli is an operating participant at Disney Springs with their own employees and business to uphold.
Probably about time for Ghirardelli to shut off the tap on free samples. Especially for those who consistently go into their store helping themselves to the samples and purchase nothing in return. I don't blame them for stopping the free samples. They're a business and need to make money just like anyone else. I mean if you like Ghirardelli chocolate, like many of us do, you could always drop in and PURCHASE some, just like many of us do.
We agree that it was taken advantage of. It was extremely kind of this company to offer free samples. We will continue to buy our favorites like we have in the past.

Why thank you, Rory!!! It may be tough, but we are really restricting Peter's mobility. He hates it, but we are avoiding surgery at all costs.
Your health is way more important then videos so please take it easy and when you’re ready, all your fans will be here.
Also, from my cast member friend, while they are no longer handing out free chocolate, you can still go to the counter and ask for one. :)

We certainly will! We have read that you can ask for the sample, but when I went two days ago they were pretty solid on saying no. Maybe it depends on the employee!!!
I feel your pain with the injury. I've been dealing with a partial meniscus tear in my knee for almost a year. It's not bad enough for surgery but a couple days of working out and I start walking with a limp and gotta rest it. Hope you get better.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The chocolate itself is pretty high, so we always thought it balanced out... But you never know! the parks and Disney Springs have peaked in crowds over the last couple of years. Maybe it worked before, but now it's just too much.

Happy Wednesday afternoon Thank you for the update on the free chocolate I am so upset about the news. I have not seen bohemian rhapsody, I will watch it when it comes on demand or Netflix. Peter follow your doctors instructions and take it easy. I am on day 4 of my flu have a terrific Thursday. 202 days

That is crazy to me that one location would stop but I can totally understand their side of it. When we were there in March I saw people just grabbing handfuls from the little basket rather then waiting in line to get one from a cast member. Seems to me that the poor cast members were getting over taken for a piece of chocolate lol
I hope you feel better Peter! I have a bad knee so I’m very used to the rest/ice/elevate thing! That’s my biggest fear about trying to do a 5k or 10k.

Wow! I have never seen that sort of behavior before, but I'm not surprised by it. The entry way was always crowded... But it was always a nice gesture. We wish it wasn't so!
We are so sorry to hear about your knee! The good news is the medical staff at the runs are kick butt, and plenty of people use their services. You would not look like a fool!!! The human body is unpredictable.
