I saw them in a small bar out in the boonies 45 years ago in Greenwood, SC. I bet there was well over a thousand people inside and outside. Cars on both sides of the road for a mile or longer. They were known for getting the good groups...
I remember this song! Question is this the same guy who did the high notes on the record with Maurice Williams and the zodiacs ( original member) on the 1961 no.1 song Stay? That song it so cool to this day!
This 1960 performance comes from The Village Square, a mod TV show based out of Charleston, South Carolina, which would later become a nationally syndicated program. The sponsor advertisement behind the group was for asbestos, a product which was still 13 years away from being partially banned for safety reasons. What a different time it was!
I Attended Maurice Williams service today. Thanks for "Staying" with us for 84 years.
So sad to see our stars fade away. Time comes for us all. Rest easy, Brother Maurice. And say hello to Henry for us.
Rest in Peace Maurice Williams 26th April 1938 - 5th August 2024, aged 86.

deana diedrich yes. Henry “Shane” Gaston. Unfortunately and disappointingly there’s little information about him
"May I" was not released in 1961 on Herald. It was first released in 1965 on Vee-Jay, and it couldn't have been a million selling record.,
Fly free Maurice Williams... 🕊️
rad AF
Who are these members?
Does that sign behind them say * Asbestos * ( ?? ). L O L.
ANISTAZI metal 94609 Yes

Mmnmm sounds like Frankie Valli might borrow his style here.
Back in those days, there were more than a few Doo Wop groups. And more than a few had lead singers with a really high, falsetto range.
Asbestos? Really?
Stay is 100 X better than this
Oh, seriously? 🙄
flawless
