Your brave telling your story, we need more people not afraid to tell there story. Tom is amazing person to show ppl his vulnerability and story. I was crying the whole time you were. Grew up in a house full of addicts and alcoholics and I'm the only one who made it out and I have a family of my own now. Prayers stay strong

I completely agree with you that more people need to be able to tell their story’s, the good, the bad & everything in between. You know those moments that most are either embarrassed to admit to others or they fear of their judgment.
I truly believe that if we can openly share our struggles & battles with one another, that your story could be that specific turning point to help save someone’s life, & then their story could save another & so on & so on.... That’s what we need the most, is a true support system within those who have been through the same things. The world needs to *~STOP~* looking down on us who struggle with mental health issues, hardships, whatever the situation may be that leads to addictions. Yes I can admit that nobody chooses to become an addict (*NOBODY* *DOES*!) but I can honestly say that I did choose to start consuming my vices in my early 20s for fun, hanging out with my husband & our friends & would party sun up til sun down days & days at a time before we were just so sick from doing that & would stop for a couple months, then 1 thing happens & here we’d go again... I thank *GOD* that we kicked that sh*t in the butt after a few months. But it literally took my husband being locked up for 45days, me not knowing what tf I was gonna do to make it & be able to make sure that he was ok while in there, but I came to the realization that I if I didn’t put my foot down while I could & pack our house up & move us tf as far away from those “friends” that I possibly could, that we would just continue on the say path once he got released. So that’s exactly what I did. Didn’t take me a week to do everything by myself & moved us across the state, changed our phone numbers, blocked them all on every social media’s, & made sure that none of them could find out where we moved & was done! Best decision I ever made! That was 10years ago!

That's it! I stay home with my son & spend time with him as well as work on my channel & other socials. I bawled all the way through with you. I watched my older son go through opiate withdrawal and it was rough. He has 2 years clean and sober now. ❤️ My younger son goes on and off the same pills. It's sad - 3 treatment centers later and he's still not clean long. I hate addiction.

This one had the past running around in my head when hearing it. I can relate to everything Tom is talking about on both sides. My addiction, as well as others. Some of those others died in their addiction. Me witnessing the death and destruction drugs caused others opened up my eyes. Everything Tom puts out I somehow can relate to it all. I am 44 yrs old and have been an addict for 22+, so a little over half my life I have been using Heroin and like you I have felt the incredible pain that the deaths from an overdoses bring to our families, friends, etc.. I am not able to comment on my feelings towards addiction at the moment. Wounds of losing my father to it are still too fresh and I am still so angry with him. I hate addiction. But I am happy that you were able to come back from it and be sober for ten years. You should feel proud of yourself.

I've watched my husband come clean of adhd meds. It's so hard to watch someone go thru that pain and be able to do nothing for them. I mean, we validate them, cheer their successes, cry with them for their pitfalls and wish desperately we could take a fraction of the burden from them.

I understand your pain, I saw my mom abuse drugs and Alcohol and getting abuse Mentally and physically at a really young age.. seeing that and being homeless at the same time.. im blessed that my mom got clean and sober! I remember going with her to every AA meeting and I loved going to the meetings, when I first heard Tom McDonald he was barely coming up... I have respect Tom and Nova and I have respect for you April! And everyone who has been through or seen Addiction &/or Alcoholism and seen it first hand, trust I know that pain and suffering, i have PTSD and a small disability, thats a little about me. You are strong my lady. It takes a special person to open up and tell about such personal things. I too was addicted to pain pills. Opiates to be exact. I was on oxycontin and oxycodone for 6 years to combat pain from cancer. I watched opiates kill a good friend of mine and I decided I didn't want to be on them amymore. That was the toughest thing I ever went through in my life. The pain was no longer from my cancer but every square inch of my body. And the dope sickness on top of that made me think it wasn't worth it and I should just go back to medicating. It could have been so easy, because the Drs still would have prescribed them to me. It has now been just shy of 2 years clean and I feel great and my pain from the cancer is manageable and quitting was the best thing I've ever done. Stay strong girl. There are a lot of people in your community who will be here for you I'm sure. I am one of them. Keep up the reactions hun!

I let them go 5 years ago and when I chose to break free, I had to remove myself from all the cancerous people in my life that I knew would lead me back into my depression. This reminds me of my pop pop who was smoking so much that we told him many times to stop but he wouldn’t stop then when he had a stroke and passed away, it hit me really hard and cried and cried because I miss him, my mom’s mother which is my grandma and my Daddy’s dad which is my granddaddy. It makes me stronger but it’s hard to let it go so the Lord is always on my side with my family and friends that gives support 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😭😭😭
