I completely agree about buying a Durston being best. I also agree with your point, that any rolling mill is better than no rolling mill. So for now, April 2023, and being brand new into this, I'm going to buy what I can afford right now and Im guesing that it will help me save up for a Durston. Me and my first rolling mill, working together to save up. Thats the theory anyway, lets make it happen now. Cheers Andrew, great useful film.
I have an older Durston rolling mill that is beautiful and in perfect condition do you know if Durston sells the gearbox handle to make it easier to push or do I have to buy a whole new machine in order to get that feature?
@@Atthebench thank you so much and Andrew. You are always so quick to respond, It is a model that is probably six years old so I'm sure the new gearbox will not fit it. I guess I will have to sell this one if I want to get one with a gearbox that is easier to push
you know, i just hit like on your video before it starts...very important information before i go knee deep...gathering all parts, just recived my thongs to hold my crusible dish.....so happy right now

Super interesting video. I like this process more than the way I was doing it by removing the rollers and polishing by hand.
I have never removed the rollers ... didn’t even know that was possible
Great tip Mr. Berry !
Thank you,Cory
Thank you Andrew.
So helpful - thank you.
love this video xx which rolling mill model are you using
Well thought out technique

If it is just the handle then they sell them. If it is a whole gearbox you need then they don’t have any old gearboxes and the new ones won’t fit

@@laurenyoungs ah. If it doesn’t have a gearbox then you can’t fit one as the frame is different
@@Atthebench thank you so much Andrew. I guess it means if I want one I have to sell the one I have.
A great tip, thanks Andrew. (How did you do in the raffle? :-) )
I am buying one Sunday!
Gute Idee man echt klasse danke
Thanks...is a Goodyear way to save material to....
Thank you for video! I only wish a little metal polish would take 28 years of my body ;)
Dear Andrew my rolling mill squeaks infact it cries ..ive tried everything and it hasnt helped and its not more than 5 years ..what should i do
Probably there are parts that need oil or grease (the ball bearings of the rollings?). If that doesn’t solves it, ask a machinist.

And here I was worrying about how i'd take mine apart and maybe put it on a lathe to clean. Thanks!
what is that certificate of?
with all due respect it would take days to achieve high polish using that polish and at that speed
