I have been a fan of Assaf Avidan for 15 years. It's a pleasure to see someone watching it for the first time, a bit like experiencing it myself...
All three projects of "In a Box" are special. You can see Avidan's development as an artist through them.
"In A Box 2" is more about guitar while "In A Box 3" is more classical with piano and strings. Both have much of Assaf's talent, technical skill and special voice.
Also try to find a video of "Over You Blues" from a live performance to enjoy Avidan's bluesy side and sense of humor.

He's such an unique artist, you just know it's him as soon as you hear it. Saw him live recently and that was an amazing experience, I cried the whole show, no exaggeration 😂

Ever since Ren recommended this guy, Asaf has been a huge favourite of mine. He’s very versatile, incredibly creative and full of soul. His lyrics are very dark and philosophical.
I adore this man and his music! The “In a box”-series is him locking himself in for 48 hours while recording as many of his (chosen) songs as possible live and without tampering with the recording. What you hear is what you get, an honest performance in the moment.
In a box 1 contains older songs of his, In a box 2 continues the concept and In a box 3 is the very latest live recording (highly recommended!!). The songs I listen to most are
“Rock of Lazarus, (in a box 3)”, “900 days (in a box 3)”, and “The Anchor (in a box 2)”
Love the In a Box series...one of my and my son's favorites. Thanks for doing a reaction to Asaf. Other favorites: 900 Days, Labyrinth Song, and Lost Horse.
So so happy to see this reaction! I had front-row tickets to his Montreal show on Jan 12th (2 weeks ago) and was GUTTED when I couldn't get there. I'm hoping he extends his tour this year to somewhere closer to home. Please do go down the rabbit hole, he is such an interesting and creative and highly talented artist.

Asaf has become one of my favorites since Ren sent me his way... I am in awe of his freedom of expression, he is truly a vessel of whatever there is beyond!

Nice reaction! I'm still newish to Asaf's music. I think all of the In-a-Box stuff is him re-recording his old songs in a stripped-down setting. Sometimes it's just him and an instrument. Sometimes him and a looping station. Sometimes he's got a handful of other musicians with him. But they all have this unplugged feel and they're great. Two of my favorites that you might look at next are 900 Days and Love It or Leave It.
I’m quite new also, but absolutely adore his music 😊 can’t get enough of his creativity and soulful sound. The song “Different pulses” is also a real earworm, both album version and live.
I have a question cause you seem to have a lot of technical knowledge - that beginning voice he uses that is really deep, is that his actual voice, or an effect of the microphone that makes it so deep? Because that would mean that he has a crazy vocal range.
It is his voice. He has a massive range. Check out in a box 3 - 900 days. There he also goes this deep. 😊
