this reminds me when i was a kid, we had this huge flashlight that used 4 D batteries in line with a yellow light bulb, lots of weight for such low light output

of all the hand held lights i have tried i love all of my 4D mag lights. have a couple shiny 3D in my rv.
and used the 2 AA at work in a holster on mu belt
( holster also holds a multi tool).
just like my very old Stanley thermos, even own a soup thermos.. some thing are made to last.
over 40 driving a truck things get bounced and bashed. so quality counts.

Another plus of NiMH is that they're less leaky than alkaline batteries. Every Maglite I've had a leaky battery is difficult-impossible to remove. And, of course, batteries are much more likely to leak today.

Always remember to check your batteries anyway every week, if necessary. Some battery brands are indeed better than others.

Love your reviews on these flashlights and radios. Always useful, you helped me to learn about them to actually make a purchase on a flashlight and small radios. Thanks again for your videos! 73!

These are still great lights, sometimes found too expensive for what they are. Grab it in sale and chuck it in your car or garage. Yes there are higher lumened chinese lights around, but often with less quality and you won't leave them in your car. 190lumen is sufficient for in and around the house and car. If you're out on the ocean and look out for a drowning person, bring a different light, but that one will blind you indoors. For general tasks and specially for the 20 bucks you got it for, they are indeed awsome.

The ML50LX is a nice upgrade, but it is longer. I think almost as long as the 3 C version of this one.
This is a nice “stubby” light. An 18650 version would rock but, hey, it’s MagLite… get some EBL Cs. NiMH give it a nice heft and won’t leak all over inside (how all my mags have died).

I stopped using Maglites when I started having trouble with batteries getting stuck in them. If they could fix that problem I'd gladly use them again.

Never understood why people gave Maglite sh!t, my 35 year old one still works. Did do the LED upgrade though. Yes there are higher lumen lights out there, I had 2 and they are broken. Plus they require expensive batteries. 192lm is great for in and around the house and general camping. Eyeballing a blue one for my son, nib on second hand market.

Maglite is nice but Surefire and Streamlight are the best. 🙂
I love my Streamlight Microstream USB and the Surefire Backup MV.
    Your Reviews are awesome !
