Fantastic video and nicely laid out. I have exactly the same sound and only recently has it dropped below 0. I can see that the belt moves side to side by a mm. I think I'll be doing thr cam belt too as it's also a 10yr item on the service schedule for the XC90 I believe.

Very helpful, thank you. Just about to do this job on my car(same model and year). Making the same noise on cold and goes quiet as it warms up. Have genuine Volvo bits coming hopefully tomorrow.

I ordered a Gates tensioner bracket , but only comes with 1 wheel . My supplier said " Thats the correct seriel number bracket for your Engine number " . I have not started replacing yet , do i need 2 wheels for the bracket ? Regards .

Hi. The engine on what I did the serpentine belt change is the T18 version D5. The tensioner consists of two wheels and the bracket. I guess you have to check what your engine requires. I am not familiar if Gates sells tensioners with one wheel and bracket also. Logical is to change both of them ´cause they worked the same time and are both same worn out. And also they don´t cost all that much. But once again I am not sure about Gates product line. Mine was INA and everything was like it should and shown in the video. All the best.

Viewers : Be aware even the registration finder got my part wrong , i needed the part that was slightly longer metal frame with 2 wheels . CHECK your part before you order , you will need a torch to view it correctly .

I reviewed my D5 timing belt video and there is a slide where the serpentine belt part code is visible. I checked mu video materials and can say that my tensioner code is 31251251. For example: www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/engine/accessory-belt-drive-systems/belt-tensioner-v-ribbed-belt/1019486/@@emclearance5694
