I think this is the only footage from that godawful 1992 US Tour - the same tour where Graham eventually smashes every window of that bus in a drunken rage, where they developed chest infections and ulcers, where each member ended up with a black eye (except for alex, he had two)
I fully relate with Damon when he says how Americans were rude, I live in the country and every time I go to a city I hate how rude the people there are. Guess he was right about American culture making it's way over here.
Jonny Locke I think it depends on the city and where in the city you go In my city if you walk through the neighborhoods almost every person you greet will say hello or ask how you're doing, where as if you go downtown there's so many people that it'd be impossible for people to greet each other. Although I will say this interviewer fucking sucks and needs to relearn how to speak to human beings
I have to agree. Despite their crazy antics, Blur are pretty laid-back and love chatting about their music. And let's be honest, Damon and Alex weren't wrong about chivalry in America.
As someone who was born and lives in America, this is awful. these people were so rude and for what?? Like hello? Ugh I feel so bad for Blur, literally just watching this hurts. I promise not all of us are that horrible 😞
The interviewer was only 16. We were called at the last minute to do this interview. And she knew nothing about them. We had no time for decent lighting. This was shot in their trailer. and it was 1992.
It's no wonder Damon doesn't like America, the entire country is basically like one giant mall. XD The poor lads look so tired and depressed here and the clueless and obnoxious interviewers are just making it worse. It's a little hard to watch. Married with Children...really? *facepalm
7:02 it seriously pisses me off how he was just trying to talk about his opinion/ experience and she had to go make him feel guilty about it I feel like you see this a lot in the interview
Actually smashed K and indignantly yanked my headphones off after she called him Damian, especially since he'd already very politely said "I'm Damon" twice and been ignored. F*ck's sake, I can't; not with a pandemic on. I'll come back and try 'er again once there's a vaccine. Everything that's already been said about this tour just gets compounded when you see something like this and realise it's what was bombarding them from all sides on a daily basis. Either pompous "rock journalists" or silly nits like the above or bored chat show hosts, none of whom had bothered to listen to the music or learn about the band in order to ask more than superficial questions that mostly revolved around the "novelty Britishness" of it all. What a massive missed opportunity. For America, I mean. Makes my heart ache for the poor lads. All that said, thanks much for uploading it. Sobering reminder.
Well I understood him perfectly, Gra does normally have very good diction, sometimes he just takes a couple of seconds to choose his words, and that interviewer just kept talking over them!!
As distressing as they found this, I wish there were more videos and footage of 1992, not just what's on No Distance or Starshaped. Also loved the Scottish guy, like to see them understand him 😂
Pricless footage. Where did this spring from? Would have been good in the No Distance doc... Theres no footage from the US 1992 tour. First I have seen (although its not the live shows)
I am not bulling Damian he won't be bothered by my comments he's a millionaire pop star And he's old with a thick skin like a me who is also a old man with a thick skin I am just offering a opinion that Albarn is being a bit off with the lady interviewers who being nice to him and he's not respecting America when there hosting him over there But does it really matter it's just a old pop band interview from thirty odd years ago
the interviewers are talking as much as all three of them, which is not how a productive interview is supposed to go not to mention the interviewers are very rude and were basically mocking them.
I'm glad they managed to get through this difficult period and come back with MLIR and Parklife. As you could see during one of the Starshaped film interviews 1992 was so bad they didn't have anything to say about it at all.
you really can tell just how bloody sick of the states they are, they just look like they can't be bothered anymore. luckily they had brighter pastures ahead of them :)
Theres nothing wrong with damons accent i think they were just having a wind up coz hes english and has an essex accent like me i wish i had the gr8 pleasure of talking to them i have such a burning crush on damon❤
she fr called damon damian 💀
8:23 graham and damon look at each other and laugh sarcasticly lmao

Patrick Grant shit...I wonder what did they do with the bus windows hmmm. Maybe they were around USA looking like a band of homeless people
damon yelling "id like a cup of tea please" is my text ringtone lmao

this was so painful to watch😭 feel bad for them
I have to agree. Despite their crazy antics, Blur are pretty laid-back and love chatting about their music. And let's be honest, Damon and Alex weren't wrong about chivalry in America.
Damon had already said his name a bunch of times and she still didn’t get it correctly 💀

Ik the interviewer was annoying as hell
@@jtatum6900 yesss:((
Ive seen a few of the american blur interviews and they dont get much better. The interviewers are so dense😒

@@Times2Productions How could the interviewer have been 16? She stated that she had 13 year old twin daughters.

I think they mentioned Married With Children because so many English bands loved that show and she was trying to warm up to them.

Doesn't come across as a brat to me, he was quite genial here for Damon
Married with children was a great show America accents are great Albarns accent is bland and dull
