Retired expat from the US living in Thailand the past five years. Haven't missed the US for a moment. Every day great here. Going back to the US would be my WORST nightmare. Place is a complete.mess. happily bye bye forever.
just look at this dude. all relaxed. washing the car. birds singing. safe. nobody robbing the local for cigaretes. nobody bashing his car in for ten quid in change. just a happy dude.
Watching the news it appears the whole world in caving inn. Riots disharmony people feeling not valued underpaid whilst the wealthy carry on regardless not suffering anything. Ahhhhh glad to Live in Thailand.
You have imported people who think such things are a normal way of life. What are European countries thinking, really? That everybody is nice and posh like them and the world is a happy place?
Thanks for your sympathy, it was sad to watch, he has moved to a different area to escape the torment but there is little support for him if he were a criminal then he would get all the support needed. Sad World.
As I walk in the central part of Hua Hin, all I can feel is the acceptance of those around me. No hate, barbs or unwanted comment. Everyone is accepted whoever or whatever you are or want to be. Only a few more months until it will be permanent for me. The tranquility and quality of life especially in your neck of the woods is such a far cry from the UK and all that is wrong there. Thanks for saying what others cannot or will not - for whatever reason.
The state of policing in this country is rock bottom. It is clear the offender gets better treatment than the victim. We are the laughing stock of the world. Sticks & stones may break bones, but any form of bullying is wicked and if endured over a period of time can be life changing for the victim. I'm sorry your nephew is dealing with a life he never asked for, let alone the abuse he has to cope with. Unfortunately he is not alone. My disabled partner had lit cigarettes thrown in his hair by school kids in uniform outside McDonalds, the police and the school did nothing. Britain is indeed broken on so many levels.
Thanks for that. We live in a different World here, Respect for others is high on the Thai peoples value's here. No standing around shop doorways intimidating people. Thanks for watching.
my friend defended himself against two aggressive thugs & got 6 weeks in Walton jail, you can see his story in my comment to this video. I'd have give my friend a medal not jail. Thugs get away with murder these days.
Left the UK in 2008. Everytime I go back it gets progressibly worse. I cant imagine a scenario where I will live there again. Crime, poverty, awful healthcare. I dont recognise my city anymore that I grew up in, half of it is a no go zone for normal people.
I agree, watching the Budget yesterday and being shocked is that all they have to offer. The Country is in a mess. Who will help the UK when we are bankrupt for being kind to others. The term Sinking ship comes to mind.
Hi Leslie, I watched your heartwarming video about Nathan's past and it brought tears to my eyes. I want to express my appreciation for your kind words. Here at Mediterraneo Marine Park, we firmly believe in providing a safe and welcoming environment for all our guests. Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated and we are grateful that Nathan had a pleasant experience with our staff and animals. We were thrilled to hear about Nathan's love for dolphins and how he interacted with them. Our team takes pride in ensuring that our marine life are well taken care of, and Nathan's visit truly brought smiles to our faces. We cannot wait for Nathan's next visit in 2024! Our doors are always open to him and we hope to provide him with an unforgettable experience once again. Wishing Nathan all the best in achieving his goals and aspirations. Thank you for sharing your story with us. It truly touched our hearts. Warmest regards, Mediterraneo Marine Park Team 🐬
Moved to Thailand 15 years ago. Living in a quiet area like you. Never had any trouble. Neighbours very friendly. Young people respect you. The UK has gone down the toilet.
Top video Les, I'm with you all the way, so happy to have left 'Broken Britain ' behind and moved to Isaan. Sorry to hear of the struggles for your Nephew, reassure him that people in other situations are caring.
Thanks for that, he has been forced out of his home to get away from the Scum the Police are helpless as to what they can do, but the victim could be prosecuted for trying to defend himself. What a sad world we live in. Thanks for watching.
I was once attacked by bikers while walking down the street with my husband in Richmond, London. It was daytime, there were people everywhere, but I was walking close to the roadway, and I had a bag on my shoulder, the bikers tore it off my shoulder, I fell and injured my arm. Someone called an ambulance and they took me to the hospital for examination, the police came to our house in the evening and gave me a police whistle just in case, they offered me a psychologist, but I refused. Then this incident was written about in the local newspaper. I love London very much, but I'm planning to move to Spain. London is too expensive now... I will miss England and the British❤
Many thanks Watching the News again and it seems the working class again suffer for asking for a wage rise these are being blamed for inflation. It would appear the Banks win. ( again )
So sorry to hear about your nephew Les .The country has gone to the dogs .Been coming for a long time .Like you said crime is getting worse the streets are not safe and don’t even get me started on the politicians .Hopefully now within the next 5 years I can come to Thailand and retire for good .
I watch with Horror the demise of the UK. Boris 99% of people knew he lied and now some of the defensive MP'S are defending him what a shambles toe Government are. Snouts in the trough before the Next Trough feeders arrive. Thanks for taking time to comment.
Unfortunate what your nephew has had to deal with his entire life. The same legislation is happening in Washington state that has happened in California regarding shoplifting. Crime ridden streets, the feeling of being unsafe, skyrocketing costs, are just a few of the reasons I will not go back to the United States to live. Thank you Les.
Thanks so much for your comment. I seen him at the end of his rope. Sad to see his feelings. No support but now we have made efforts for assistance so we hope we have turned the corner.
Agree with everything you've said. Im in Middlesbrough, ive been robbed at knifepoint, burgled 10+ times, attacked in my own house, I know nearly 50 people who have died from murder, suicide or OD. The UK is brutal.
Sorry to hear, Middlesbrough was a nice place at one time then it slipped into a state of high crime once the drugs got a hold of the place, it is a place of nightmares for those who live there now. Sorry to hear hope things improve. Best wishes Les.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream Must be the roughest place in the British Isles. Why didn't you move? I do not recognise your description and I have lived in England for 86 years (south).
I've had 1 experience of needing police and 1 of needing ambulance, i've never phoned them in 30 years except for these two times (lucky i suppose). 1. Police, gang of 15year olds ripping garden fence off and throwing eggs and stones at my house, caught it all on camera, police asked me if i really wanted to do anything about it because of their age and 'they would know it was you' ....too much paperwork for them. 2. Ambulance, was told it would be a 4hr wait.... what??
Yep is it worth it, yes it is and should be done, little criminals turn into Bad criminals as they think they can get away with it, and in most cases now they do.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream i agree, and yet the policing seems to be not to combat crime, it's to retrospectively look at it and do nothing. Yet there now are a load of 'auditors' going around and showing how the police are using their powers illegally when it suits them. it's a complete shambles.
I'm having very serious discussions with my wife about returning to her home country of Colombia. Weirdly I've walked around her home town at night and never once felt threatened. It has wonderful wildlife and countryside. The weather is great. It's not over populated. The police are helpful and are allowed to do their jobs. When they do, they are not criticized for it by various quarters. Sure it definitely has its problems but on balance it seems a lot less problematic to be in Colombia than the UK at the moment.
It depeds where you live. I feel happy and safe where I live. There are other places, I would not go near. It is elements of the proletarian class, which cause the problems of crime and voilence. Keep away from their enviroments.
The Uk is not the same place. It is crazy. I am sorry for your nephew. And all he had to endure. Good on him for standing up to them. The parents need to be called out. Not setting any boundaries for these kids. Happy Sunday.
It is plain to see, all snouts in the Trough until the Next bunch of Elite rulers take over and start feeding from the same trough. Where is the Good News.
Great video Les! I’m not from the UK but completely understand your frustration with the lack of respect in society today. No one place is perfect, but I am certainly looking forward to the opportunity of retiring and living the dream in Thailand myself one day! All the very best!
I left in 1979 .Over the past 5 years when i return it has plummeted into a state of disrepair. So very happy that i decided to leave when i was 24 years old .So sorry to hear about your nephew ,he deserves so much better .
Your nephew, you, me... in certain parts of the uk, the threat of violence is always there. It's simply a broken country. J.G. Ballard talks about this in his marvellous 2007 South Bank Show interview - Or Martin Amis 2014 'This is England'. I think you will enjoy those 🙂
I have ever see the Tourist shop at Stansted Air port called " Glorious Britain" i had to laugh and shake my head!?I live in Italy some of the year,i agree the UK seems to be getting worse year by year, food banks and knife crime!Good luck with your move!
I agree what you said about the UK.It's going down the toilet fast!I had 2 teenagers steal parcels from my van year's ago, told the Police very near by and they said there's too much paperwork to do so were not interested,i knew where they went in a block of flats but i couldn't do anything by the law!?I live in Italy some of the year now and every time i return to the UK things seem to be getting worse, everything is run down, seaside resorts, city centres, poor roads,i see people taking drugs everywhere! The cost of living is high as well as the insane house prices!People put with it while those idiots in charge do nothing!Makes me really mad!😡
What’s this story got to do with immigration? At no point did Les say that the bullies were immigrants. The problem in the UK is 13 years of Tory government.
The cops know who every single one of these thugs are, they know what they do, they know their guilt and tricks to avoid arrest, but the problem is the cops hands are tied. It's the law, the state of litigation, and the fear of upsetting minorities & certain demographics that has been brewing for decades. It's a crying shame.
The Prisons' are full so less punishment is given out for all crime. They know this now so commit as much as they can but remain under the threshold of going to Prison. They know how it works and of Course having Legal Aid defends them at the expense of the people they rob.
Some years ago, Rosa Monckton filmed a documentary called ‘Tormented lives’ which is still available on TH-cam, highlighting exactly what this gentleman has experienced with his nephew. Heartbreaking and disgraceful what people who have a disability have to put up with, along with their families.
This is still going on talking with my nephew he is still not getting the care needed, frustrating with the care authority not doing what they are getting paid to do. Thanks for watching.
Today I am flying back from pathos Cypruss having been here for 2 week with my partner I am absoluteley dreading it🙁 The anxiaty is kicking in all ready 😢 this year I am looking to sell my house and look at my options abroad I absoluteley hate the u.k its a horrible depressing place to live unless you are super rich and live in a descent area !
Best wishes for your return and hope things get better but somehow I think not, options we all have options and planning helps us to achieve them plans. Hope all goes well for you both. Best wishes Les.🙏😀🙏
Nice Video Les It's stuff like this is the reason we are leaving the UK early next year and coming to Jomtien.Crime, huge inflation, poor pension increases over the years are resulting in poorer and poorer living standards continually year after year.I have a family member who has mental health issues and like your nephew a easy target for bullies and end up suffering from huge anxieties.Which as you rightly state very little or if any support to help. When you said he told you he felt safe over in Thailand it brought a tear to my eye along with anger and frustration that our country is no longer a very safe place to live.
I wish I could afford to bring him here for longer than the two to three weeks holiday he has had. Seeing him smile ( rare as it is ) was a great feeling. He is a challenging person anyway but to have some happiness in your life is a great feeling. At the moment he is having a trip to swim with Dolphins not in the UK But my sister sent a picture and a Huge smile. Thanks for taking time to comment.
True story, in 2016 i went to Thailand for a month, Bangkok for a week, Phuket for a week, phi phi then Krabi. In that time i made lots of friends from lots of different parts of the world, many nationalities that were nice and the Thai people themselves were brilliant and helpful. One night me and my friend went out for a drink and we were randomly started on by 4 drunk lads from birmingham all of places (not far from my hometown) and i couldn’t believe it. Even the police were cool as hell with us after the whole ordeal was over.
Thanks for the video. My wife and I currently live in the usa. We are here until her medical treatment for cancer are completed. I watched your video and I agree with you 100%, not just about GB but also the usa. I heard my parents says the same thing about the problems with "The youth" and thought, "Old people".... now that I am "Old" I see their perspective. Honestly I watched the shit show unfolding 30 years back. It's not going to get better, only worse. You and others that see the demise of civility and have options are lucky to leave to find tranquility elsewhere. Those that cannot will suffer until there is a significant shift in society. Sadly, that day is but a dream
Les..sorry to hear your nephew's story but it doesn't surprise me one bit..it seems that nothing has changed for the good since the Fiona Pilkington and daughter horrific case in 2007 in Leicestershire ( please google & read it) .. I am living in Thailand more by default then design..came across here for 6 months in 2019 and stayed through the ..emic and never returned. I miss the UK that I grew up and worked in where I was a copper but the stories I hear and read now make me pleased I stayed in Thailand..doubt now if I'll ever return except maybe for a visit..big maybe! A friend was here on holiday with his wife a couple of months ago..told me what it's like now..horrible.He's looking forward to retiring to either Thailand or the Phillipines in a couple of years.. Phillipines because they have been there several times and like the country and the reciprocal pension agreement with the UK but when I explained to them your workaround made them think it could be Thailand... The Justice system is truly broken..read last week that Coiln Pitchfork is to be released again..he's a double child murderer and rapist..what the f**k! he should have been given a whole of life sentence..but he'll be walking the streets again. Mate I despair. The health service is a postcode lottery. Lucky if you can get a GP appointment.. The list of failures goes on and on but like you say crime is out of control...the Police have lost it and people such as your nephew have to suffer their appalling inadequacy. A graduate can now join the police and in 3 months be working in counter terrorism.. don't make me laugh. You needed a good 5 to 10 years policing experience before being considered for such a role. I could go on and on but think I've made my point. So sad to see the country I grew up in has gone to hell in a handcart.. Take care mate..
Thanks for that, very much appreciated, I grew up in a poor household but I think ( know ) we had a good childhood growing up. Front Doors left open great neighbors but would you leave your door open now. I think not. We have not been out in the car for 3 days and just checked the doors and not locked but silly yes but in the UK it would have gone for sure. We have no fear of thieves here and I can't emphasize that feeling having suffered break-ins in the UK. The feeling of well being is priceless. The UK is going down hill, todays revelations and video of party's at No 10 and all the politicians knew and all lied about it are now saying sorry. Only because they have been caught. They are as bad as the Scum on our streets.
What goes around comes around. Parents are entirely responsible for this by failing to discipline their kids and teach them the difference between right and wrong. A minority of course, but it explains why you got to this result. Parents can no longer smack their kids. If a country adopts lenient and degenerate policies, don't be surprised it will enter terminal decline with a chronic moral crisis, and outrageous abuse of the rights of the decent, honest citizen.
We grew up in a poor working class area My Dad worked at the steel works my mum at the cake factory. I had a good life growing up was caught telling a Lie twice by my dad and punished very hard never did it again, I tell one story and never have to think about a story because its the same story. We all tell little white lies. My Morals Scruples and Principles come from my mum and dad who I thank them for so much.
A lot of parents don't want to discipline their children. They want to spoil their kids. They can't bring themselves to punish them, because they're an extension of themselves. Perhaps they give the excuse that they don't want to ruin their parental relationship with them. Deluded and toxic of course.
I myself have had issues throughout my life, never diagnosed in any way, but I know i'm different and people can tell i'm different, I also have a really high IQ, which causes a lot of problems for me, especially in the workplace. I prefer to be alone, because it's f**king exhausting trying to have a conversation with most people. I pretty much stopped going out once I reached my 30's, I buy everything online, go shopping once a week, go out cycling or walks locally, but I stay away from the town. Out of town attractions like national trust and English heritage, museums, anything away from town centres is fine. It can get dangerous for me because my brain is always doing 200mph, I don't always see danger as it's unfolding, I struggle with tone of voice, the facial expressions etc and when people make nasty comments I don't always realise it until hours later and then I get angry about it after the fact. These people are not clever, they're just repeating one liners they heard from someone else, because one liners are like bait, you can't respond to them in the same length of time, and usually if you do try, they'll interrupt, you'll get angry and then you end up looking like the aggressor. This also applies to passive aggressive acts, like someone bumps into you causing you to spill your drink all over yourself, nobody saw that act but they absolutely will see your reaction and you will look like the bad guy if you do. You could play them at their own game, but I my brain isn't wired that way, I don't walk around dreaming up ways to annoy people. The body cam was a good idea, the rest was not, you really have to think about the law before you start arming yourself to the teeth. Once you start carrying weapons, even for self defense, the law is not on your side. Your nephew has listen to some bad advice and like me he probably doesn't quite realise whats going on until later, he's then gotten angry after the fact and gone seeking revenge, something i've had to stop myself doing soooooo many times in my life.
Sometimes people struggle through life and others never see. Best wishes for your future and hope happiness comes your way. You seem to have a grasp of what is happening and being able to control it matters. Well done. 🙏😀
Interesting comments, i lived in both affluent areas and rough areas in the south of England, its typically the same over the decades as they passed, from my teen years in the 70s to my days in the early part of this century, dominated by alcohol abuse and drugs, especially on a Friday night. When i remarried in 2013, i wanted to do better and live better, so we immigrated to Cyprus. Best decision i ever made as i ended up still in the EU, healthier, happier and most certainly safer. We moved in 2014, i now speak the language, and im currently awaiting my final Cypriot cards for full citizenship, which i will get in October. I also have a UK passport, so i can visit my kids and grandkids again, do i miss England? Nope, I'm often asked that question and i simply say, why? give me a reason.
That's why I prefer to stay in Malta for the rest of my life, I felt more safer in that place than back at home in the UK. I did ask the staff if they would hire me at the marine park and they said they would, though due to laws and regulations about working in Malta is going to make it second to none.
They protected the Scumbag because my nephew stood up for himself against the months of bad mouthing and sprayed the Scumbag. The evidence was there bad mouthing then the spray Scumbag 1 victim 0 This gives the green light for more abuse.
I retired in December 2014 and moved to Germany to live next to my only brother. My 3 sisters still live there but they are quite happy. They all live in very nice areas. Only one lives in London and she lives in a very upmarket area. I live in a village in a tourist area near the sea and its 99.9% German. The only things i miss are M&S and a good butchers and the Pies i used to get from a special pie shop. Its 90% pork in the butchers here. If you want a joint of beef or a whole chicken or Duck you have to order it. Joints of lamb, Guinea fowl or game forget it.
If your well off and live in the nice area's then the chances are you never see what is happening, but living in Germany I never got to see that wonderful part of the World, so many places left to visit. Thanks for tasking time to comment and for watching. Best wishes.
I agree and can relate, I have got asperger's autism, and there are some really nasty people out there especially when you go towards London, completely agree and might think about leaving soon. Cheers mate 🙂👍🏾
Very sad indeed. He should not be living through this trauma as an autistic person. He should be getting help from his surroundings to build his confidence.
Looking at the best places to live in the World Portugal ranks high. I feel Spain has lost its shine because of Brexit it is more difficult to stay long term there. There are many factors. But go live in various country's to get a feel of the places. It is an exciting time exploring. Thanks for your comment.
A pub got robbed in eston, and while it was getting Robbed with the fire door wide open a police van drove past it twice and stopped outside the fire door and still drove off
Thanks Les. Without losing something, winning isn't so great. We have lost a country of birth, but we have gained a life that is infinitely better. Like you, I will never return to Britain. My British passport expires next year. I will not bother to renew it (dual nationality). I detest almost everything Britain (and the other nations of the ‘five eyes) has become.
Hi I do not detest the UK but having discovered a better life outside the UK I chose not to go back to a Country that is on the slippery slope to violence and perhaps civil disturbance because of the actions of those who Rule us. One Rule for them and another one for the Working Class. Were not all in the same boat.
I agree, here where I live people still respect people and especially more for the old and infirm. A caring society something the Western Country's have lost.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream Absolutely. I used to work and live in Thailand in the 90s, and its totally different culture in terms of the attitude to infirm and elderly ( especially elderly ). Hope I will be able to move there soon, for good.
My view is that the Tories will lose big time and the new government will be just as bad as the previous, we have kicked the can so far down the road it is hard to see a way back.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream Yes, they’re all the same party. People will stick to Tory only because they know what to expect. The Tories are the best of the worst. Even those with money only live in London during the summer months, the rest of the year they are soaking up the sunshine abroad.
Uk has spent 10 x more money on arguing about planning permission to build a tunnel under the Thames than it cost india put a craft in the moon last year
Just done a video about Rip Off Lawyers, the snouts are in the trough and these negotiations are no better, a jolly boys club making money for each other. If your a member of the Club then your rewarded. Working Class people need not apply.
Great video, but however I'm sure that if you moved to Liverpool, Merseyside you would never want to leave, because people who want to leave the UK seem to change their mind when they move there because they think its the best city in the world???? The crime is not too high in Liverpool but i personally think its a horrible, run down depressing city to live in. Any one heard about the obsession with this city?
Liverpool lol, I have herd many stories about Liverpool and none have given it your perspective but I can't comment as I only visited it once for a day. I did like what I seen. Thanks for watching.
Which part of the UK are you from? Was your nephew living in the same area when he was attack? I'm so sorry your nephew has had to put up with so much for so long..

The day England was England has gone its a hell-hole i just go back to UK just to see my grandchildren after a few days i cant wait to get back to Thailand. You can see civil unrest in UK yet with this corrupt Tory government. very sad to hear about this dreadful thing with your nephew
Thanks for your comment, my 9 week stay ensured I would never return to live there I will see out my days else where. Boris Johnson should be in prison for the lies he told and damage he did to the UK. Sorry rant over have a nice evening
On holiday last year in Cornwall in a very nice caravan park, with my family, my grandson whose 6 and autistic, had lots of noisy fun running around always accompanied by his dad, but the amount of pompus comments made about him by other guests, mainly retired was shocking, don't just blame the young or foreign people, these where all white and middle class, ignorance is universal and disgusting.
Hi thanks for the comment, my answer to these pompus people, we were all kids at one time and I enjoy seeing kids enjoy the moment. We were all guilty of making noise one time or another. Thanks for highlighting this. 🙏🙏😀
I am 43 and I am autistic. I have lived in the UK all my life born and bred. Every day I wish I could leave. I have always said there is no way I would want to raise a family in the UK. I aspire to eventually sell up and move away. There is no reason why I want to stay here. Apart from the frequent bad weather, I don't feel safe here. I am always on edge and had to be put on anti-depressants. It seems most people that work, work hard for a pittance and then get taxed harder so there is no incentive to try and better yourself. The living conditions for most people are poor. The people are vile and rude and maybe that is because no one is happy here. The UK is regarded as the worst country to bring kids up in, in the developed world after the US. No wonder the decent people are leaving. The Government don't know what they are doing and are so corrupt and clueless. The open door immigration policy made the situation a million times worse. I firmly believe by the end of this decade, the UK will be a 3rd world country. It's pretty bad when in London especially, teenagers are getting stabbed to death. I'm so glad I never had kids. The UK is a horrible stressful place to exist. I really can't wait to get out.
Thanks very much for taking time to comment. I agree Life in the UK is not getting better as it should be. I hear every day it degrades a little bit more every day. Best wishes for your future plans. Take care Les.

In E.U the rape is 5 to 15 years behind bars 😂 some criminals are eligible for parole in less than 5 years.. Murder and torture is maximum 25 years, with some exceptions Polland Holland and France 🇫🇷...it's a pitty but the bitter truth what about there les? The peaceful people are protected ? I know they have stricter laws
Thanks for that, there are many video's about the Prison system here and they are tough, that's why no one wants to go inside so crime is low here because the punishment is VERY HARSH.
Much as I sympathise with any victim of crime, wherever they live, I suspect that the real reason why you're not going back is the lifestyle you enjoy here in Thailand. Hope for more Thai related content Les. 👍
We sold up in the 'YUK' 20 years ago and relocated to Cyprus for good, and still living the dream ! With 300+ days of sunshine a year, and never suffer with stress or depression like we always did in the 'YUK'. And were really sick of being taxed to death and being ripped off for everything. From a happy 'UK' tax exile ! Thailand is a good place to live as well.😎😃
Police are not doing proper police work in England or the Usa these days.Thailand has a bit of a police state but at least they protect the poor as well as the rich.
I think the police are just as frustrated in that they catch them and the Law makers do not punish them hard enough because the prisons are full and it is costly. The cycle then repeats. Crime is a Risk Reward business and the Risk is getting lower now. Thanks for watching.

My nephew is still a target even though he has moved they still mock him on youtube. There are some sad people in this World. His mum like yours was also targeted although this has stopped now he has moved away. I will link this message to my nephew so if he wants he will send you a message. Thanks for your story. Best wishes for your future. Les. 🙏🙏
Sad but very true Les, sorry to hear that your nephew has had such an unhappy life because of these wasters. Sadly many countries in the west are similar, laws seem to be stacked against the vulnerable and decent hardworking people, the thugs have all the rights... AND THEY KNOW THE SYSTEM. Hope life improves for your nephew. Les as you say you are living the dream in Thailand and long may it continue. Best wishes from Ireland 🇮🇪 🙏🙏.
Thanks for taking time to comment. Today he is having some happiness as he is swimming with dolphins, such a big smile on his face a rare event these days. Thanks for your kind thoughts. It is true I have found my little bit of Utopia living here.
Southeast/East Asia is more aligned to the values of politeness, respect for everyone, rules and peacefulness that the traditional British culture is based on. I am positive if your nephew came to Thailand and Southeast Asia in general he would be treated very well and absolutely adore everything from the food, friendly locals, beautiful beaches and scenery and culture.
Hi and thanks for the comment, when my Nephew came here he was happy being here never felt threatened and was never stared at. Feeling safe is a big factor living anywhere. Living in the UK he is targeted for being different. Very much appreciated taking time to comment.
I left in 1970. Whenever I've gone back things seem to have gotten worse. Particularly north of the Trent. I remember Stkle and the five towns as a fairly bustling ares. last time I saw them they looked decyted. The UK hasn't moved on. Anything that has gone ahead there is in London and the South East. Ev n when you consider something as simple as high speed trains France, Italy and Spain have thousands of miles and the UK has 68 to the Chunnel
I am grateful to having lived in the UK we were poor as a family, I bettered myself worked hard only to see in my later years those that did not work will never work when they receive cash not to do so, then work on the side to boost their income. Crime does pay in the UK now shop lifting is a increasing problem. I could go on all day but thanks for taking time to comment.
Very sad how the vulnerable get targeted. Sorry to hear about your nephew Les. Tell your nephew to get a little legal advice. From my understanding of the law he can legally wear his camera in any public place. You are full allowed by law to video or take photograph's of anything your eyes can see from a public area. Being in a privately own space such as a shopping mall would be restricted but in publicly owned spaces he has no issues. It does not matter if for example that group of yobs did not want him to film them he has the right do do so & no copper can make him stop. For example say these yobs were in there own front garden of a house they owned if he was on the public pathway outside their home he has the right to film or take photographs of whatever his eyes can see. Some people may not like the fact he can but that does not stop his right to do it. Tell him not to be intimidated by the police who try to bend issues in their own favour without having the authority to do so & I suspect that because of your nephews condition he is an easy target for intimidation. The camera thing is absolutely not an issue if he is in public area, so if he feels safer using his body cam encourage him to do so. There are many examples on TH-cam were normal folk protect their rights to record & take photographs in public & they do audits of public spaces & public buildings often met with aggression by people & also police officers at times who actually do not have a full grasp on the law. It is funny how so many people are triggered when they see someone filming or taking photograph's in public. Often instead of getting on with their own day the can't stop themselves from asking why the person is filming & feel they have the right to know, which they simply don't have. Moving on from this a friend of mine was a quiet guy but could handle himself could box well & new some Ju-jitsu, he was brought up in a tough family & could not read or write but a very decent lad never looking for trouble & would go out of his way to help others.after training one night he & his younger sister called in a local chip shop for some food to eat on their way home, this chippy was in a problem area for thugs & two decided on this occasion to confront him insulting him about his clothes the glasses he wore & the way he was walking as he had an unusual walking stance after being in callipers as a child. They kicked the football they had at him very hard & continued with their aggressive actions, my friend stopped to tell them he did not want any trouble & they should not mess with him (these to lads both mid to late teens were well know bullies in the area but my friend did not know them from Adam) as he was talking to one of the lads he seen out the corner of his eye the other lad taking a swing at him. My friend immediately dropped his training bag blocked the lads punch hit the lad square on the chin & as the lad drop he wellied him in the head, the lad was out stone cold by the time he hit the floor, he then turned to face the other lad who had shot off like a ten bob rocket. My friend being let's say a little slow then walked into the chip shop with his young sister & got their chips to eat on the way home. The staff in the chip shop asked what all the commotion was & my friend just said oh some lads fighting. As he came out of the chip shop the lad he had hit was still on the floor & his not so brave mate was a few hundred yards away shouting you've killed him ( he hadn't though, the lad just had a broken jaw & was knocked out) cop's caught up with my friend & his sister & asked what had gone on almost befriending him as my friend tried to explain what had happen, one copper even said he's have done the same, anyway end result was my friend was taken into custody & charge they even has his sister walk home alone, end result my friend got nicked & had to serve 6 weeks in Walton nick Liverpool. In my opinion these thugs got exactly what the deserved & my friend should have got a medal not nick.
Thanks so much for the story, again those who suffered from the hands of the thugs pay the price. The Camera issue I agree he should not have a problem but having this on him has been weaponized against him, I will not go into details but it is causing problems for him They have even resorted to putting youtube clips of him and adding evil comments total SCUMBAGS. He is not having a good time, this is the result of Standing up for himself. How do you stop the taunts of up to 20 Scumbags who now have something to do and taunt a vulnerable person. Put them in a room with me and a baseball bat and I would explain the error of their ways.
I understand you enjoy Thailand but you are living a "good" life there, theres many that will probably tell you how horrible it can be. I agree with you, the UK seems to be slippery, but hasnt it always? Scraps in pubs, muggings, etc. Could it be that we and many peole who comment are just getting old? Im sure our grandparents were saying the EXACT same thing when they retired in the 1970s 80s etc. They probably depicted the UK as hell on earth when Thatcher took over and before her there was war and poverty. As we age we seek safety and comfort, the world has always had bad people on it and always will i think we are just less tolerant and less educated on how to deal with change and problems. Let's remember the internet ruined a lot of humanity. I recently toured SE Asia and i saw some extreme poverty, it also has quite low hygiene in some areas. ..BUT....Nowhere is perfect which is the beautiful part about life because none us are perfect either. Keep on keeping on. All the best people.👍
Agree with the state of our country But if we all ran away we have surrendered. It's all over Europe mate. Boils my piss to see what's happening to our country.!!
I agree with what you say but the Government has destroyed the British way of life, the good old days soon no one will remember the good old days. How bad is it when we can't defend our own borders. I will chose the country I feel safe in and can afford the cost of Living. Sadly the UK is on the slippery slope. Where do you think the Government will draw the line.
Hi Les being a new Zealander and I'm looking at spending some of my retirement in Thailand part of the year but that won't be for a few years I have friend also a kiwi he has a few dollars from his kiwi saver but is primary source of income will be his super he is 65. and monthly his income is 2000 nzd about 43 000 baht he's not a big drinker has a few cold beers at home. and likes fishing the beach. Outdoor s he's not a whoremonger but of course he's a red blooded male he doesn't want to live in Pattaya but somewhere in Rayong or bang Saray is it possible for him to stay in Thailand on that amount he wants insurance and he has money of course to fly back home if need be and he will have money to purchase a small motorcycle he doesn't smoke also is s pretty healthy what are your thoughts also he can eat thai food just once in a while he would like a steak or a Sunday roast cheers ❤😊 🍻 Auckland New Zealand 🙏
Hi thanks for your comment, yes it can be done for that amount, Basic yes but some would say Basic here is better than their home country. I know guys living on this amount and are happy and even the Entertainment is available for this amount. Hope this helps, I would suggest a extended stay living on this amount to see what it is like before taking that Big Step.
Sadly the UK 🇬🇧 is lost for many reasons. Left in 07 and haven’t looked back. And it’s accelerated in self destruction since then. A certain Mr E Powell may have been right.
The news here in Thailand would appear the UK has hit the self destruct button. I can't see a way forward and better people than me are struggling also to see a way forward.
As for this bully problem. Send the video to social media instead of police . You might find some one for seemimgly no reason travels miles and miles out of there way and sorts it
Well done mr and nice to hear that he’s more happy there your son, England With leadership no do nothing about corruption is no good for English people, remember first Ukraine 🇺🇦 then Israel 🇮🇱, English is your Nation leadership of England 🏴
A large portion of English people are aggressive and malicious. The police are more focused on crimes regarding money and politics, as opposed to protecting the people.
Hi thanks for your comment, the cost for solving crime is expensive is why petty theft is not worth the effort. But the harm it does to the victims is immeasurable. All people want to feel safe but this is in decline now. Opportunist thieves are everywhere. Here I feel safe secure and never worry about such things any more which is worth its weight in gold. Thanks for watching.
Yep so sad but the U.K. is in a bad Place. You worked hard , here for many years Les.....But never say never, remember that health issue. Dear Kev in Thailand , should have come back......just depends on your own situation, of course. Hope the lad gets a fair go
Many people have said this to me what if you get Sick and want to come back to the UK, I Will take my chances here. Thanks for taking time to comment but if I am ill I will pay for treatment here. If it is Life threatening and I cant afford the treatment then I will accept that my time has come. I will not return to live in the UK for any reason.
Strong Decision Les👍 Just been watching the Sunday News Progs.....Just unbelievable, how much mess we are in. Sadly these shows.....do focus on ‘The Blame Game’ , it gets boring after a while. One of the reasons I see myself in Thailand soon. Cheers
Retired expat from the US living in Thailand the past five years. Haven't missed the US for a moment. Every day great here. Going back to the US would be my WORST nightmare. Place is a complete.mess. happily bye bye forever.

I found that on my 9 week stay, every video made I complained about the cost of everything. Enjoy and best wishes on your return.
l would describe the UK as dying imo, but it appears to be the same for most of the western world.
Why has the Western World hit the self destruct button. Greed is the key word now Greed
Isn't it interesting how Western countries going downhill
It's getting worse in Norway too. every week there is some kind of machete or knife stabbing. just worrying
Watching the news it appears the whole world in caving inn. Riots disharmony people feeling not valued underpaid whilst the wealthy carry on regardless not suffering anything. Ahhhhh glad to Live in Thailand.

@Vegard - got any immigrants from Africa or Middle East in your country ?
You have imported people who think such things are a normal way of life. What are European countries thinking, really? That everybody is nice and posh like them and the world is a happy place?

Sorry to hear this about your nephew. My son is autistic and we are planning to leave the Uk before his teens.
Thanks for your sympathy, it was sad to watch, he has moved to a different area to escape the torment but there is little support for him if he were a criminal then he would get all the support needed. Sad World.
I m so sorry man. As someone who suffered bullying when young, I totally understand the pain. And yes the uk feels often unbelievably unsafe
Thanks for taking time to watch and comment, itis very much appreciated.
We will be there next week in Hua Hin,. You have said in a Nutshell my feelings about this. Thanks for taking time to comment.
And I would have got that kid and shoved them into a bin
my friend defended himself against two aggressive thugs & got 6 weeks in Walton jail, you can see his story in my comment to this video. I'd have give my friend a medal not jail. Thugs get away with murder these days.
The UK police are on the side of criminals and antisocial scumbags, unfortunately. They are against law abiding people.
This is absolutely disgraceful! Love & respect to your friend! 🙏
Hi Leslie,

Moved to Thailand 15 years ago. Living in a quiet area like you. Never had any trouble. Neighbours very friendly. Young people respect you. The UK has gone down the toilet.
I would agree 100% with your comment. It's nice to live such a life. Thanks for watching.
Yep, the UK is terrible! What job do you do in Thailand?
@user-ns5yn8ux2u I taught English in a primary school for 10 years. Now I am retired, enjoying the good life like Les.

Wish to hell I could leave the UK I hate it now
Top video Les, I'm with you all the way, so happy to have left 'Broken Britain ' behind and moved to Isaan.
This country lost common sense years ago

So sorry to hear about your nephew Les .The country has gone to the dogs .Been coming for a long time .Like you said crime is getting worse the streets are not safe and don’t even get me started on the politicians .Hopefully now within the next 5 years I can come to Thailand and retire for good .

I waited with a fractured hip and wrist for an ambulance 16 hours was told within 4 hours. Once I got to hospital I must admit they were very good.
@JanetJames-dw6xo yes if only too.

It is a sorry state at the moment. and there is worse to come. Thanks for watching.
Ditto for Canada. Up to just under a million per year. Large percentage on the dole.
What’s this story got to do with immigration? At no point did Les say that the bullies were immigrants. The problem in the UK is 13 years of Tory government.
Yeh and one of them has just stabbed 3 people to death in Nottingham and tried to kill 3 others.
Nothing to do with immigration. Look at politicians , it comes from the top
Their hands are not tied! The police are corrupt and cowardly and DO NOT want to do the righteous thing!

The Train is too far down the tracks to turn back. People want to feel SAFE but Crime has hit everyone in the UK.
You needed
a good 5 to 10 years policing experience before being considered for such a role.
They are as bad as the Scum on our streets.
love that you showed us what a mercedes looks like :)
You are so right there too may i say.
Thanks for watching very much appreciated.
That's why I prefer to stay in Malta for the rest of my life, I felt more safer in that place than back at home in the UK. I did ask the staff if they would hire me at the marine park and they said they would, though due to laws and regulations about working in Malta is going to make it second to none.
Sadly Nathan this will not be possible. Best wishes mate.
It's a disgrace Les! When you don't have proper law enforcement and laws that protect the law abiding citizens. Then it will turn to anarchy.
My Nephew has Autism and puts up with a lot from ordinary people, he struggles more than we know. Best wishes to you sir, 🙏🙏
Not just London many parts of the UK is bad other UK cities and towns are worse people are no longer friendly or tolerant .
Very sad indeed. He should not be living through this trauma as an autistic person. He should be getting help from his surroundings to build his confidence.
Believe me everything that can be done has been done and guess what now No funding. Thanks for watching.
Do you think Portugal and Spain better options?
Looking at the best places to live in the World Portugal ranks high. I feel Spain has lost its shine because of Brexit it is more difficult to stay long term there. There are many factors. But go live in various country's to get a feel of the places. It is an exciting time exploring. Thanks for your comment.
Beautiful location, trees, bird song, light aircraft, etc.,
Thanks for the comment, I do live in a nice location.
A pub got robbed in eston, and while it was getting Robbed with the fire door wide open a police van drove past it twice and stopped outside the fire door and still drove off
Sorry to hear hope they were caught on cctv walking away.
Maybe they were overseeing their operation.
Could nt agree more Les - it wont be to long before we will be living in Thailand - my wife is Thai -might see you one day Bud
Thanks for that and thanks for taking time to comment. Best wishes for your future plans on living here.
Thanks Les.
Without losing something,
winning
isn't so great.
Les, sorry for what your nephew has to go through. But it is a symptom of disease and degeneration of our Western societies and not just UK.
The Government were partying under the nose of the police and they didn't see it 😂 😎
Or chose not to see. The trust in Politicians is at a all time LOW.
Totally agree
don't blame u, UK gone down hill..... can't wait till I leave xx vee
Sad to see I grew up in a nice Country where did it go.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream it's gone m8.....😭. don't know how we lost it 😔
Well done to nephew for sticking up for himself police totally useless
Government corruption and incompetence is ruining the U.K. I can see many people leaving in the next few years, with the Tories remaining in power.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream Two cheeks of the same arse.
We left the UK years ago because we could see this coming , would never return to UK.
Thanks for that I did the same 14 years ago, I could see the UK was on the slippery slope. Best move I made. Thanks for taking time to comment.
I am truly sorry that this man is right.
What the Hell has happened to my country.
Thanks for watching.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream What did you hear about it? and would you move there? Many people are obsessed with that city!
Birmingham is worse full of crime and mental health issues in people it's a very miserable and depressing place .
It’s been on my mind for months
Come and have a look, this will then give you a better perspective. Best wishes.
Which part of the UK are you from? Was your nephew living in the same area when he was attack? I'm so sorry your nephew has had to put up with so much for so long..
Redcar North East Coast and yes he lived in the same location and moved to another area now but still bullied by others but not as much. Thanks for your concern he has a difficult life.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream I lived in the north of England for much of my life. However, had to move down to London in 1983 to find work, as Maggie Thatcher was closing everything. Couldn't see any future both back in the north or for the UK, so left in 1987 for New Zealand.
It was a good life when I was there but from the 2008 it crashed and burnet, Austerity lol it was hammer the Working Class 15 years of Austerity and they still want more. The bailout for Covid our grandchildren will be paying for that. I can't see a fix at all.

Me too
@@RetiredandLivingthedream I am an 86 year old Englishwoman and I will say that this is the best country to live in. It is not the lovely country that it was in my childhood but I would never live in another country. I have travelled extensively and lived, for three years, in Colonial Africa where I was very homesick for England.
You sound like a northerner to me. Perhaps you have not seen the lovely parts of England.
@@valeriedavidson2785 Hi and thanks for taking time to comment. I have spent many happy days in various parts of the U.K. and working in some great locations.Yes I grew up in the North East of England. I grew up in a very poor location so knew about living with little to no money. As you say there are nice places to live within the U.K. if you’re lucky to be able to to afford to live in wonderful locations. Although poor I had a happy upbringing but looking at the poor areas within the U.K. now we live in different times. Instead of improving standards it would appear that every thing has been sacrificed. Growing up in poor area’s now is not as good as as it was when I grew up. Poverty should never happen in the 6th Richest country in the World.
That is a total exaggeration.

I can say NEVER. 100%

Its the politics. once my children grow up and get there own lives am planning my move down there.
Thanks for watching best wishes on your future plans.
I didn't add the emogie! So who's is doing to what and why???
You got me there. Don't know.

Your correct I'm from Redcar. Thanks for watching.
I return to the shitehole 2-3 times a year; overpriced; lack of social controls and policing. No thanks!
I try and not go back for the same reasons. Thanks for sharing.
No one cares about each other in the UK and the governments have messed the country .

Crime is the same here like any other country.
Just visit the UK or America and you might have a different opinion. Thanks for taking time to comment.
As for this bully problem. Send the video to social media instead of police . You might find some one for seemimgly no reason travels miles and miles out of there way and sorts it
Sad world we live in the vulnerable are targets. Thanks for the suggestion.
Born in France, spend 46 years in France, now I live in UK for 5 years, uk us definitely better than France
Wow I was leaving the UK and going to live in France I thought France was better than the UK, this was 15 years ago. Best wishes in the UK.
🙏
i'm the same i want to move to Lithuania
Find the best location for you and you'll be happy.
Well done mr and nice to hear that he’s more happy there your son, England With leadership no do nothing about corruption is no good for English people, remember first Ukraine 🇺🇦 then Israel 🇮🇱, English is your Nation leadership of England 🏴
The world is in a mess at the moment. Thanks for your comment.
And someday I hope to do the same! Well, I will.
Cheers
