    The sp1200 was not made for hip hop it just was a drum machine the people from the hood made this machine hot flipping sample and got real create after we made this sapling machine hot this machine sold like hot cakes thanks to mr Rossum for the development of the sp1200 you made a lot of bother's rich. Like I said this machine was jut for bands who didn't need a drummer but remember the hood made this machine good🤑!

    There is the sp 1200, its the original and its a historic machine and even if its been remade or whatever. The sp 1200 will always be the real deal

    Great interview! I think the remake of SP1200 with original circuits and stuff would be something that would totally sell nowadays, especially if you're monitoring prices of SP1200 for past few years. The demand is huge, so are the prices. Is it even possible to start talking with Dave about crowdfunding this project?

    I only wish they would have touched on how hip-hop producers used the 1200 for more than just drum sampling as it was intended; or how bass filtering was invented using the filtered outputs, etc. But Dave Rossum didn't seem to be aware of much more than the importance of the machine to hip-hop--understandable, of course, considering his age. Little did he know that J. Dilla--one of the greats on the instrument-- was the artist whose beats were released with a cardboard SP-1200. And the interviewer was so excited to even be interviewing the guy that he probably forgot a lot of questions he would have asked if he were more composed. I can just see him kicking himself on the way home. All that said, this was an incredible interview! Two real Menches!

    Oh no, so my MINT R-8 is a piece of crap :(

    • @bdw0lf
      @bdw0lf 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andrew Piatek I have to agree with Hans on this i'm afraid. When the R-8 came out I was recoding an album and the producer/studio owner loved it. In my track it sounded like someone banging on Tupperware , all the sounds in the mix sounded over bright and some how flat at the same time. I got into a massive argument and I lost a week of recording time over it .. In the paraphrased words of Brian Eno it will aways be an antediluvian piece Of junk. If you love it yourself then do something great on it .. more power too you:)
